The lady working the giftshop was lovely. She was very helpful and got my mom and I a great deal with the senior national parks pass. Tumacacori is a beautiful spot in Tubac to explore. There are some great trails to walk and a lot of history to read, see, and learn about. I am glad we got to experience this beautiful park.

Fun experience for the whole family. A very cool part of history and it's not too far of a drive from Tucson. I love walking through the old buildings. It really feels like you're stepping back in time. A wonderful perk I've noticed is they often have someone there making fresh tortillas and they will give you a bean and salsa taco FOR FREE! I've only gone to this park twice and they've been there making fresh tortillas both times. Love this park.

We're back with a guest. This time we started in the church and visited the outbuildings, the lime kiln, and the cemetery. It's like Time just stopped 200 years ago. Just looking at the unfinished parts. The lime kiln was used to make a plaster surface in the church. The source of lime is 25 miles away. The effort is unthinkable. Just to have a smooth surface to paint on inside the church. Applied over the adobe sod bricks. Arizona History..

Glad we made the visit here. Walking the grounds is relatively quick. There's not a lot of signage on the grounds so be sure to grab the self-guided tour book for more information, and you may want to watch the introductory video before walking to the church. Once you're done walking the grounds, you'll walk through the museum (on the way to the exit). There was more information in here about how the Native Americans interacted with the Spanish missionaries. Start to finish, we spent about an hour here.

This was the highlight of my trip. Pictures truly do not do this place justice. It's a work of art. The meuseum is informative and the displays are very well done. I found myself actually taking my time to read everything rather than rushing through it to get back outside. As someone who suffered a foot injury and has trouble sometimes this was easy walking and the trails were not super narrow. I absolutely recommend checking this place out but start in the garden, then the meusum, end outside with the mission. Staff was pleasant and social.

This place was an absolute gem. I really enjoyed the history video playing as you start the tour of the grounds. It was so interesting learning about the indigenous peoples and communities that thrived in the location long before. The grounds felt special. I just wish the garden area where the fruit trees are were maintained a little better to find the walking path. But overall, I had an amazing experience visiting!

Tumacacori National Historical Park is a gem. It explains the history of the area with Father Kino to convert the Indigenous people living in the area, and also introduced wheat to the area. That is why there is a lot of wheat flour based tortillas in this area as opposed to corn. There's a self guided tour book, but a lot of days there's a volunteer tour guide, which was much more interactive and detailed. It took about one hour total, and was very informative. There is also a museum inside as well. When we visited, there was also a station with volunteers making flour tortillas and salsa. The flour tortillas were made by hand without a tortilla press, and they were quickly cooked on a wood fired stove surface and topped with salsa and beans. The salsa had a kick to it! Apparently on other days there are blacksmith and other demonstrations.

Absolutely stunning. Tumacacori National Historical Park is a must-visit in the southern Arizona area. We learned about this national historical park in a book of historical places that are managed by the National Park Service, and it was definitely an awesome road trip to while in the area. We left Tucson in the morning and arrived to Tumacacori National Historical Park in the late morning on a Sunday. With that said, there were not very many people at this site. The grounds are beautiful and you can spend a few hours here, if you really want to bask in everything and learn about the history. After you park, you can pay the entrance fee with the ranger in the gift shop. Everything is self-guided, so we walked outside, first through the main church and grounds, and must say that this mission is very well-maintained, especially given that this was all constructed in the mid-1700's! Amazing. Walking through the historic church and seeing the walls, rotunda, and sanctuary was unbelievable. This is the oldest Spanish mission in Arizona. Although there is a lot to see outside, you don't want to miss out on the Tumacacori Museum, which was built in 1937 and is also on the National Historic Landmark. The museum features in detail the story of Father Kino and the mission, and its expansion elsewhere in Arizona. For anyone who loves history, I highly recommend visiting the Tumacacori National Historical Park while in the southern Arizona area. There is a lot to see and learn here, and reminds you of civilizations prior to. Amazing.
