We had visitors from Scotland. Mike is into making furniture and I have been wanting to stop in to visit Tumacacori Mesquite. We were treated to a tour of the grounds with Mike asking lots of questions while we admired the beautiful cuts of mesquite. Mike learned the proper way to drop and preserve pieces of precious stones in his woodworking projects. The showroom has finished pieces for sale and you can go out to the stacks of cut and uncut mesquite to purchase for your special project.

If you like to work with mesquite, check this lumber yard out. They are a mill and you can find thousands of board feet of rough sawn lumber ranging from 4/4 to 12/4, and up. Because of the way they saw and stack the lumber in the same order, it's possible to get pieces that are consecutive, allowing great grain bookmarking. Each piece is dated so you know how long it has been drying, and the price is marked as well.

A "tale of two personalities".Perhaps the best......as well as most unfriendly, inhospitable, .......customer service I have encountered.Last week after walking in the store front, I was very politely shown around, helped, and given advice on how to proceed with a shelf making project. I was shown around the lumber yard at the invitation of the lady helping me and we looked at pieces of wood together. I was invited to return with a template of the form I needed so we could match the wood to the project. I was told they would be happy to help me get the correct size and would cut the wood I anticipated buying. I left encouraged and excited. The person who generously helped me with all this was the lady who (I believe but am not certain with her husband) owns this business. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience. This week, after making my template and taking measurements, I returned in the afternoon. There were no other customers and it was 3:30 on a Tuesday. Unfortunately, the kind helpful woman was not present......instead my wife & I found her husband focused on his phone sitting behind the counter. We didn't even know he was there as we looked around, commenting favorably on the displayed pieces, until we got up to the counter and saw him sitting there, not looking up, let alone greeting us. He clearly, had no desire to get up off his chair, let alone help us. I started to explain that I'd been in the week before, gotten advice, had my template etc. He quickly informed us (1) he was too busy to do any work at all for 6 to 8 months and (2) he was too busy for 6 to 8 months to even make 3 to 5 cuts in a smaller 20 x 17 piece of mesquite if I bought it from him to do the work myself given he was busy.He finally hesitantly said only "I'll sell you the wood". Everything about his manner and tone said I don't care at all about service or you.So ....if the lady is behind the counter, then by all means go enjoy this place .....but if Mr. Unfriendly is there, I suggest you turn around and look elsewhere so he doesn't spoil your afternoon.Needless to say, I declined to put him out by buying mesquite there. So many other places have mesquite and a service orientated attitude all the time. For what it's worth, I don't write many "reviews" (maybe 3 or 5 in my life).
