Pretty cool event! The main stage was set up beside Corbetts, there were a couple of food trucks and an outdoor bar. The crowd was fun and the music was great. We really enjoyed Grammy award winning New Breed Brass Band.

Amazing. Fox Theatre tonight! Opened with the amazing pianist Kenny Werner! Did I mention amazing? Why yes! World class! Then onto the legend. 89 year old Jimmy Heath and performing magical! His charm and smile while working the audience and working with the student orchestra...was marvelous to watch! The festival is a world class event. So wonderful for Tucson. Wonderful for me!!! Looking forward to the Fiesta on the 18th. Looking forward to other events and Lizz Wright! Did manage to go to a few events. Including the free downtown Fiesta. 8,000 people attended. Was nice. I think they had some of the same bands as the previous year. That was disappointing. So I left. I know some other people felt the same way and left as well. However that being said, it is a great event. Some other people I know are getting ready for next year...as they should. 2 Weeks of great musicians...what a treat.

I'm so thankful that we won tickets from Yelp to attend yesterday's Jazz show at the Scottish Rite Temple. The performing artist was pianist, Armen Donelian. He played several pieces; I especially liked the piece from Fiddler On The Roof: Sunrise, Sunset. I remembered my father humming this song often when I was young. My BF especially liked 'Mexico', a piece that Mr. Donelian composed. As per BF's description: It had a Latin beat that built to a crescendo and wound back down to where it started.Mr, Donelian's second to last piece was called 'Metropolitan Madness'. It was a fast-paced, up tempo which reminds me of the hustle and bustle years in New York. Thanks, Yelp, for an enjoyable evening.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dee Dee Bridgewater, even though my seats were up in the balcony. The acoustics were still really nice up there. She, of course, is legendary. Next year, I'll find a way to attend more shows!

I had an amazing time watching Dee Dee Bridgewater tonight at the Fox Theater!!! It was my first time visiting this venue and the seats are very comfortable! The Tucson Jazz Institute opened the show and they were great! Such talented youth in our community and featured a couple songs with a tap dancer! It was a really cool collaboration and concept!Dee Dee Bridgewater and her band were amazing! They played a variety of jazz tunes and jazz genres, with some amazing solos and scatting! I loved he songs from the afrophysics album, as well as the piano and vocals cover of "What a Wonderful World." It was so fitting for what's going on right now. The last song, which was an encore was a classic Stevie Wonders song, and her voice just makes you want to hollar and have all the feels! So glad I got to witness her live and experience this through Yelp Elite Ticket Giveaway!

What a great evening! The husband and I were thrilled to snag two tickets through the Yelp! give away. It was a fantastic night at the Fox Theatre. A great event for the entire Tucson community. Jimmy Heath was so great to watch. At 89 (!!) he is still a phenomenal musician and his passion for jazz truly shows. We had a blast watching him and the Tucson Jazz Institute Ellington high school band. Parking was a bit eh, but that's not the fault of the festival. Definitely stop by a concert!

What an absolutely marvelous experience (courtesy of the ever-wonderful Yelp)! We went on the Jimmy Heath night for an evening of brilliant music, entertaining dialogue, and just overall magnificence. The group that started off the night were wonderful - just great music to squander away hours listening to. When the TJI kids came on, I will admit, I was a skeptic. I normally cringe at high school musicians (I used to be one... I'm not being judgy), but these kids were amazing! Partner that with the inexplicable charm of Jimmy Heath, and there you have it - a wonderful night in good ol' Tucson!

Had a great time at the beautiful Scottish rites building listening to Armen donelian - gorgeous piano playing and the acoustics were incredible. A lovely 2 hour show with a lovely variety of song choices. My favorite was his rendition of Sunrise/sunset from Fiddler on the Roof- gave me goose bumps!
