The day I went they were in Himmel Park, with tables nearby. The city will charge each truck $60 if they sit up tables, so I am not sure about other locations. :( The food was great, and the trucks were SO friendly. Each one took time to explain to us what they offered and asked us to please come back after looking at the other trucks. The food was fresh, and varied. The weather was beautiful. I love any place that offers food in quantities, and the personality is big plus, in my book. The traveling nature prevents cockraoaches too. LOL

For an opportunity to see two burly men serve up **danger danger Kim Jong Un spicy** Korean tacos in a shaky, bright red food truck emblazoned with the words, BAM BAM MEXICAN ASIAN FUSION, complete with a picture of a little Buddha in a sombrero, RUN - don't walk - to the next Tucson Food Truck Roundup. Then, RUN again in the opposite direction to douse your tongue in a vat of Mustache Mike's Italian Ice. The Tuscon Food Truck Roundup - a collection of independent food trucks that vary from even to event - is a great way for people to sample tasty, down-home, international grub served out of moving vehicles with fluorescent lights. On a Tuesday early evening, the Roundup was as the Sonaran Science Academy - an isolated bad location, in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Turnout was small, maybe only a handful of food trucks - but the stand out was Bam Bam. For $7.50, you get 3 soft taco "samplers" - one with chicken, another with bulgogi beef and one with spicy pork. While the beef was pretty unremarkable and too sweet, and the chicken tasty, the spicy pork was out of this world spicy, causing most people to run to the nearest fire hydrant to suck on its nozzle. Each taco was overloaded with FRESH veggies, better than that wilted stuff you've got at home in the crisper. Other participants that day included Vina's Baguettes, Jackie's Food Court, BBQ Rush and DC Jumble - Latin/Carribean Fusion - the only other interesting place I might have tried, had my tongue not been in a cast and I was eating dirt to soothe the burning sensation in my mouth. Most of the trucks do private catering and the Foodtruck Roundup gets out many times per week with different participants. Definitely worth a try and a great way to support your upcoming local businesses!

This is my first Food Truck Round-Up. I'll give the good, the bad and the... well not so ugly. No ugly really. The food and vendors were great! I arrived early, about 10 til 4, and food was already being served. The selection was quite impressive. I noticed that almost every vendor became jam packed with the exception of the Mexican food trucks. The kimchi truck seemed especially popular, I mean, a line eventually strung across the entire lot! I sampled 4 different eateries and was delighted by all. The portions were small enough so that you could go stall to stall. It's like a Tucson Meet Yourself on wheels. The smells were amazing. The food very local. I'd only heard of one of these vendors before so it was a real treat. And the bad...The biggest downside to this event was the location. It was not big enough. This should have been at a much larger. It was just crammed in there and the amount of people by 5 pm was staggering. The parking lot was basically closed off and people were finding all kinds of places nearby to jam in. The generators made it quite noisy in the area (would be nice if they were run by electricity?). And the venue was just too small for the amount of people. But! This speaks awesome for the truck roundup and its future. I would love to see this once a month! I enjoyed Hawaiian tacos from Guero Loco's Bubba-Que (2 bucks); a slice of neapolitan style pizza from Vero Amore that came fresh from their oven... YUM! Just 3 bucks. There was a funky pork/cole slaw sandwich on a bun titled the Alamo from Stolen Recipe BBQ. And the absolutely delicious Pin-up Pastries offered up a Whoopie Pie and a salted caramel cupcake that literally melted in the mouth- perhaps the tastiest desert I have had in ages. So, great selection, music, great prices, plenty of variety. The event should move to a much larger place next time, and I imagine it will just get bigger and better (and my waistline along with it?)

Had a great time tonight at the Tucson Food Truck Round-Up. There was a great energy, a ton of people, plentiful food selections, and easy and ample parking. One of my friends tweeted that it was "Truck Exhaust + Good Eats". That kind of sums it up. That being said there were also huge lines, I waited for about an hour for MaFooCo and my friend waited an hour and a half for Planet of the Crepes. The food that was well worth the wait, but like a boy scout you should be prepared. Take heed if you plan on going to an event like this, get here when it starts to avoid the long lines or divide and conquer sending members of your group to different trucks and sample together. Our group was able to hit 5 different hot-spot trucks using the divide and conquer approach. Seating is limited so if you have some folding chairs they will come in handy. There is a huge value in this event for those of us who don't work near a food truck. It's a casual and inexpensive way to get to try foods off the beaten path. I will definitely be at the next Round-up!

I really love this event!!! I like the fact that this time there was more food trucks and it was at a bigger space. Yes, I know that it was still not big enough. We got there exactly at 4pm, and it looked like all the trucks were already serving food. They also had quite a few tables set out for you to sit and enjoy your food. The lines weren't that long for me, I think the most I waited at a line was 10 min. Although, I did notice that at around 5:30 all the trucks had a long line. Especially MAFOOCO, their line was the longest. Planet of the crepes wasn't even set up yet and she already had a long line.Overall, I think that this is a great event where you can go and sample a few food trucks without having to chase them around the city. A lot of people complained about the long lines, but its something that should be expected. If you want to avoid them get there early.

This one took place in the parking lot of the the T. J. Maxx at the corner of Broadway and Wilmot which, if you ask me, is the perfect use for this parking lot that's full of dying businesses. We tried:Serial Grillers - their burgers and sandwiches have "killer" names like; the Boston Strangler, Hannibal, Fallen and Leatherface. You can get any one of them "bloody" by adding barbecue sauce. Maybe not the best imagery for your food but certainly creative. We had the Zodiac, with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and bleu cheese. Not the best burger I have ever had but a solid effort. Shameless plug: My wife said "your burgers are better", Awww... thanks honey.Jackies Food Court - I was simply trying to spread myself around so I got hand cut fries from them to go with my burger. Not bad but, again, not the best I have ever had. I took a Sonoran Dog home for my daughter and she said it was "good".Smoking Hot Barbecue - Wings... these were the best thing I had. Pecan smoked and covered with your standard wing sauce they got better with every bite. I can still smell the smoke on my fingers. I saw some frickin' huge sandwiches coming out of this truck. The long line should have alerted me and I was sorry I did not get a sandwich from them. I will be stalking them now.Red Wagon - To supplement her Sonoran Dog we took my daughter a half cheesesteak from this truck. It was her first ever cheesesteak and now she's a fan. She didn't even let me try it.I appreciate the effort it takes to organize an event of this scope and the organizers of this event seem to have gotten it right. The sound of the food truck generators and the aromas of smoke, sweet and gasoline bring back childhood memories of going to the carnival and walking around with a corn dog the size of a baseball bat - and who doesn't love a carnival - especially one that's all about food.
