Things have been seeming much better, Dr. C is always personable and direct. We have been normally getting seen in a much more timely manner and the staff is also very nice. The MAs are super sweet. My mom had cataract surgery and all went well. No more giant rooms full of people.

Well its amazing how they tell you to be at your appointment 15 minutes early. So you do so. And then sit in the waiting room for another 30 after your appointment time. Once in a room the 1st part of the check up is done right then. The nice girl tells you the doctor will be with you shortly. And you sit and wait another 26 minutes and still no doctor. This place says it for the relationship to the patients. Still you sit and wait up to 30 minites longer for the doctor to come in Guess maybe the doctor might need a little help. Since he isnt able to be there when they tell you "doctor will be right with you shortly".

Worth the wait. Find me a doctor's office in Tucson (especially) that you don't have to wait and I'll know where to avoid. Kauffer is great - although he in my experience tends to under promise and over deliver; a problem I can certainly deal with.

Stay away. Incompetent back office when it comes to customer service. My aunt sent a check for $5.28 in early March, for what was owed after insurance They didnt cash til April. In that time my aunt died. Because the bank automatically closes a checking account after notification the person dies the check bounced and then this office charge the family $30 fee. So if you want to pay for someone else's incompetence go ahead and use them.

customer service terrible. appointment time 9:00 am by 9:45 i gave up. no one came out and said anything until i canceled my appointment, said people earlier were late and were trying to accommodate them. they should have been put in open slots and not messing with other people's time . time to move on.

The quality of care was great intill I met the doctor . I think he should go back to school or at least admit that he doesn't know anything about Graves disease ( Hyperthyroidism) before he calls his patients a liar. What a waste of my insurance and my money. And my time. And I still have the electric like pain that shoots through my eyes and the pressure in the back , and the uncontrollable twitching. Would not recommend.

TL;DR - Went in, they added paperwork, ignored my requests to self-pay and insisted on researching on how to bill the insurance company. They were going to dilate my pupils without any advance warning (like bring a friend to drive me home) and wasted 30 minutes without my ever seeing a doctor. If you want the full story:I'm an FAA certificated pilot and eyesight is crucial to my certificate. For years I've gone to an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) or a licensed eyecare professional for an annual eye exam. These take about an hour, cost around $150, and usually cover not just the eyes but general health that could affect vision. None have EVER dilated my pupils or left me in any condition where I couldn't drive home.Having heard about a new eyedrop medicine ("vuity") that improves presbyopia ("nearsightedness") and a recommendation to a doctor who lives two miles away, I called Tucson Eye Physicians. It turns out the doctor Vuity recommends had retired, but TEP gave me an appointment with another doc. Then they called and said he'd be on vacation, and found me another appointment. The disorganization should have been a clue. They said they'd email me the day prior to the new appointment, but they did not. Second clue.I followed their instructions to go to their website, download and fill out the forms. These are scanned forms, so I actually was supposed to print, and manually fill them out. I brought the forms with me and showed up to the appointment -- early. The lady at the front desk never smiled, but seemed obsessed with my insurance card. I don't have vision coverage but she explained that they "...are a medical office..." so medical insurance covers the visit... BUT there's a part of the exam that is vision only and I'd have to pay for that $50... and sign three more forms they do not have on their website. Seems shady or insurance fraudy to me but hey, it's $50 which is a small price to pay for top-notch vision care. I said sure. She kept going on about the insurance... it's an HMO and where's my referral... so I finally said I'd self pay. That didn't stop her from asking her next-seat greeter station about the insurance. I once again said I would self-pay and to ignore the insurance. That didn't phase her and she continued looking at how to bill the insurance. By this time 15 minutes had gone by. Again I said I would self-pay (3rd time). She said she'd "have to ask the manager". ASK THE MANAGER WHAT??? I've never been in a medical practice where they have to ask the manager if they can accept payment. FORTUNATELY, THANK GOD, the manager approved them accepting payment. Overall it took three times for me to say I'd self-pay and to "ignore the insurance company" and now twenty minutes had gone by.After all this time she let me know my pupils were going to be dilated. WHAT?? I asked how long they'd be dialated. and she said typically six hours but it varies from person to person. Why was this not discussed before I went there... now I won't be able to drive home!! (I tried that post-lasik and the headache was immense... you'd be amazed how our pupils compensate for subtle light changes and when they don't it's a searing pain in the head.) She said I could "wear dark glasses."At that point I'd been there 25 minutes, filled out forms, had her ignore my repeated (3x) requests to ignore the insurance thing and just get on with it, and no eye exam in sight (no pun intended) let alone having to call someone to come get me because I can't drive with dilated pupils.I walked out.All I wanted was an eye exam, and an evaluation if I'm the right candidate for Vuity. What I got is 30 minutes of my life gone forever, multiple discussions of insurance that I literally said we can ignore and I'll self-pay, and then no exam. During this entire time, none of the six people in the waiting area were called back for their doctor visit. Will not go back. Would recommend other steer away. If they don't like my review I'll bring it up to the insurance companies in the state and see if those guys think it's ok. I don't.E

The lead MD and owner seems fine. This clinic is mis-managed and consistently wastes everyone's time. Every appointment I've had has taken 45min- 1 hour for basic semi-annual testing and most have started 15-30 minutes late. The last straw was when I called to re-schedule two months in advance for a 9:15 appt. The confirmation text message also confirmed 9:15 AM. The receptionist, when asked at 9:45, said I had a 10:30Am appt, even though I wrote 9:15 AM on the check-in form (which no one looks at). The response, when I asked to be seen immediately to make things right (and not wait until 10:30) or I could find some other clinic, I was told to find another clinic. No apology given by staff. Very poor social skills. The front desk staff blamed a 3rd party appt reminder company, not themselves. If you like service like the DMV and are retired and have all day to spend, and have little self-respect, enjoy.
