I adopted "Ace" {who became Chaco} here in 2020 when he was 10 years old. The shelter is small and run by volunteers, which at the time seemed to be a kind woman and her daughter. I had over an hour drive to get there and they met me cordially. I had phoned ahead and they promised not to let Chaco be adopted before I arrived, which was very kind. I had my other dog in the car and they allowed him into a fenced off area to see if the 2 dogs would get along - many places will not allow this, but it was a critical issue for me. To rate a shelter based on its website is unfair. This is a quality caring place run on a shoestring - they get no funding other than donations. Sadly, Chaco passed away last week and I will be sending them a thank you donation in his honor and memory.

We got our cat, Chappy Papi, there this past Jan. He had been waiting for his forever home since at least October. The shelter is no-kill. It is small, quaint, and well maintained. Nice and clean and no smells. We made an appointment to meet Chappy. When we arrived we were greeted by one of the volunteers. The place looked very well kept. It didn't smell like many other shelters. The dogs who were staying there were outside in the yard getting some exercise as it was sunny and fairly warm. The volunteers take them out and bring them in when it's closing time. This is when they clean the kennels. She was cleaning the cat room and feeding the 2 resident cats at this time. She had us sit and brought Chappy out for some interaction. We fell in love and said we'd adopt him, but had to wait to Feb. 3, pay day. She contacted one other volunteer via phone, and they "lent" us the fee, which if I can remember is around $60. They gave us a blanket, some food and a toy for our new cat. We thanked them profusely and took Chappy home. We repaid the bill in total on Feb. 3. Chappy is loving his new forever home. We are so happy he's part of our family.

These people are wacho nuts. There's no place on their website to make a donation. They say there is, but there isn't . . click on any donate link and it takes you nowhere. They say click the "donate" button to the right of the webpage, there isn't. Try and make a comment! Click on "comment" and it says you must be signed in. Don't have sign in information to type in, it tells you to go back to their website where you find . . . NO where to sigh up. I guess these folks are so flush with money, they just don't need donations!
