This was a fantastic stay, in a great location right in the town. Staff was communicative, accommodating and friendly. Our room was clean and stocked well. It was a super convenient spot next to Sheifflin Hall where we were based for a 3 day paranormal event. We got to investigate Boothill Cemetary at night and saw the grave of our room's namesake, Mr Charlie Storm. We walked everywhere. Loved the semi-private entrances with nice front patios to sit at. Will definitely stay again at next year's event, thank you!

I was absolutely delighted with this little hotel! It is quaint, clean, rustic, in the right ways, and really comfortable! It is located, a block from the center of town, and yet there was no noise to deal with. And I was pleasantly surprised to walk into basically a two bedroom room! The main bedroom is part of the kitchen and sitting area, but there's a bedroom that you could close off from the outside noise if there was any. It is definitely cooler in the closed room because that's where the air conditioner is. It was perfect for two people who have differing ideas of what temperature they want.I would absolutely recommend this hotel.

This review is based on my recent stay at the San Jose House. We stayed at the San Jose house recently. The room itself is nothing fancy, I was okay with the oldness of everything as it actually added to the atmosphere of being in Tombstone. Areas of improvement: Our room was double booked. My family and I were lying down in the bed and the door access panel went off and another person entered the room saying they had the room booked. The manager sorted it out. Then it happened again with another lady attempting to enter the room. Additionally, the bathroom was rather dirty, other than that the room was satisfactory and the beds were comfortable. If you book the room through Expedia or one of those 3rd party sites you'll have to pay for the room in person. We didn't know this as we thought we paid for it through Expedia. We found out about a week after the fact when we were trying to get in touch with management about an item we left behind. With that being said, getting in touch with management was difficult, the email address on the site didn't do anything, the numbers we called all went unanswered and the only way we were able to get in touch with anyone was by sending a text to the property manager who then relayed everything to the hotel manager.

Great & honest staff. Unbeknownst to us, our son left his Switch at the motel. The staff called us to let us know & mailed it to our home. When we offered to reimburse them, they wouldn't accept it. The location was nice...walking distance to the main street in Tombstone. The room was clean & nostalgic.

THIS HOTEL DEFRAUDED US. I booked for two nights. On the second day, the property manager informed us that we only booked for one night, were already supposed to be checked out, and needed to vacate. We scrambled to find another place to stay only for the manager to come back and tell us they made a mistake, that we were booked for two nights, and that we could stay. When we told him we already booked a different room and wanted a refund for our second night since it was their error, he told us to contact the property owners (who do not live in Tombstone, btw). The owners did not answer or return any of my phone calls or texts, and when I lodged a complaint through Expedia (which I used to book), they told Expedia they won't refund us. This is hands down the worst experience I've ever had with a hotel. They ruined our trip and have now scammed me out of $100. DO NOT STAY HERE. Book a room at the Larian next door, which is cheaper, cleaner, and more hospitable.

Tombstone does not have a lot to offer as far as places to stay - no big name chains, you have to go to Sierra Vista for that. All of the motels are old and expensive and none of them have great reviews. That being said we chose the San Jose House because it had some of the best reviews and the lowest price. The sign on the front of this place states, "Tombstone's 1st Lodging House." They aren't kidding. The room was fairly clean, the A/C worked well, and the bed was comfortable. The room was dark and dreary and there was a lime slice stuck in the sink drain in the kitchenette area. The pictures on Yelp are not at all like the actual room we stayed in.
