Who knows if Tuxon was a charming roadside motel in its heyday. In any case, this hotel probably underwent a stylish glow-up all thanks to the folks behind elevating this gem to what it is now. My kid booked a King-sized bed studio for us that was every bit comfortable during our long weekend stay. It has a lot of personality and packed with a boutiqueish mix of raw-looking walls, industrial pipe touches and (faux) cactus plants inspired by Arizona's surroundings. The stylish inside really doesn't compare to the motel look on the outside. The bathroom is another highlight with a sizable sink+vanity area, the shower is designed with large subway tiles+black handles and the rain shower was all I thought about after my flight was seriously delayed from O'Hare to here on a Friday night due to weather.Other basic amenities include a hair dryer, shower+shampoo+conditioner, makeup remover, mini fridge, complimentary water bottles and a 40+" tv that we couldn't seem to get it to work. My other gripe is the room not having any USB charging ports by our bedside tables or anywhere in the room. Plus the limited outlets, made charging inconvenient. If it weren't for each of our portable chargers we brought, it would've been a mess. Another issue was the fact that we unknowingly booked our studio right by I-10 so all we heard was the constant traffic noise from cars passing by. It was difficult our first night- we pulled through and somehow tuned it off. What would help tremendously- especially this side of the hotel are noise-reducing double or triple-pane windows. Anyhow. While my kid and I didn't trek on foot, Tuxon is conveniently located (at least to us it was) to a lot of the destinations I planned for our short stay. I mean, the most we drove was about 40 minutes to head to Saguaro National Park or Sabino Canyon. Tuxon offers other comforts too- just ask the front desk. My kid and I didn't take full advantage just because we were out til late the few days we were here. Housekeeping was great and so was checking in and out. We had a nice experience during our 4day/3nght stay, We felt comfortable, relaxed (despite being by a major road) and satisfied with our bed, bathroom, services, and the overall clean atmosphere of Tuxon.

First off, props to the hotel for trying to make this an updated experience. The rooms are newly decorated and chic. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The outdoor murals are outstanding. That said, it's still a motel and is right off the freeway. The walls are paper thin. They do a great job of securing the premises at night which is good. Just be aware. It's a motel.

I really wanted to love this place, but so many things added up to make the experience not so great. First, the good: the place is cute and renovated. It is aesthetically pleasing, especially to someone like me that loves the retro vibe. Also, the staff is very nice. Everyone we met was really friendly. The pool area is also very nice and relaxing. Strangely, they have cabanas that no one uses because they are $75, almost the price of a room here. The bar has decent drinks, but the food is hit or miss. Unfortunately, the good didn't take away from the negatives. First, this is an old property that has been fixed up, so it is inevitably noisy. Knowing this, I specifically asked for a quiet room on the top floor to minimize hearing people. The clerk gave me a bottom floor room and assured me no one was above me. Both nights there were people above and you could hear every step. Then there was a major issue with the hot water. It would get super hot and then go cold and then cycle back to super hot. There was no way to adjust it to make it comfortable. One afternoon after visiting the pool we barely had any hot water at all. Maintenance came and it was hot for the minute they were there, which did not fix the issue long-term. Since the phone in our room *also* did not work, there was no way to call to report it, and I didn't feel like constantly walking back and forth. Finally, it has been a real hassle to get a receipt. I was told one would be emailed, but it never was. I emailed and got a one sentence email that didn't address my issue, then they stopped responding to emails and won't answer the phone. They definitely charged my card though, which is frustrating. Also the fire alarm went off at 5:30am because someone was smoking in their room. The staff was apologetic, but I imagine this is not a one-off situation. It should probably be mentioned that the rooms are SMALL. We had two double beds and one was so close to the wall that if anything fell, it was quite a hassle. But that was far from a dealbreaker. I think this is properly is fine for a night or two, and if you expect it to be what it is. They can work on communication a bit and definitely fix the hot water situation.

Had a one night stay at the new IHG purchased Voco - The Tuxon. Hotel was a great value on points and had a very comfortable bed so slept well. That said, there were a few issues. When I came in the room the light switch wouldn't work, and I figured out I had to slam my fist on it to get the lights to turn on. As I was falling asleep I could hear my neighbors checking in and they had a dog. The walls were really thin but luckily once in their room they didn't make a lot of noise. In the morning I took a shower and the water was hot, then cold, then hot again. Lastly, I called down to the front desk to ask for a late check-out and nobody answered, so I just checked out at their normal time. All small things, and I'd stay there again with how few points they charged. It's about a 15 minute walk to the free light rail to Downtown, too, so that was nice.

Artsy boutique hotel that makes a rough part of town look appealing.I've spent my summer enjoying a series of staycations across Arizona, and Tuxon is one of the more intriguing properties--it has *personality*What I loved: It has a sizeable pool with plenty of seating. The lobby has a great bar with a brief but surprisingly good cocktail selection, and it serves food until like 10pm. They sometimes host trendy evening events. What was less than ideal:The rooms were OK, but I didn't really like the bathroom. The entrance is an unusual sliding door. The shower is tiny and weak. But overall, it was still comfy. This has plenty of potential for fun, and is a decent reflection of Tucson's urban aesthetic--it's just a brief drive from downtown, after all. If you're spending an evening here for a show or a game, this is a pretty good overnight stay.

Stayed at this nice little spot just outside of town. nottoo far from campus. very contained and safe spot in a not so great area. boutique vibes with mid century look. rooms are great and easily accessible. very easy access to highway and downtown. Staff is friendly and helpful. Didn't spend a lot of time in the main bar/ lobby area but it seemed cool. Didn't spend a whole lot of time there but it was a perfect place for my purpose. Dropping off the boys at college.

What a gem! We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel and would definitely 100% come back and recommend to anybody who's in the Tucson area. A mile from the entertainment district downtown. Super comfy bed and pillows. But, the best part was how dog friendly they are! We have two little Frenchies who absolutely love the place. Friendliest staff I've ever encountered at a hotel. Having a full bar is a plus in our book. Special shout out to Adriana.

This place was so cute and affordable! Found it while passing through Tuscon. It felt very safe and was gated and even had an EV charger which was nice! We did a late check in and the service was amazing! I can't remember the name of the woman who helped us but she was so friendly and accommodating! The breakfast and coffee in the morning were great too! Would highly recommend!

5 stars for me means It was not only good but I'd come back and recommend it. This hotel had the feel of a retro 60's Los Angeles apartment. Looks and feels very modern and dare I say chic. The bar and breakfast were better than what I would expect in a small hotel in Tucson - but so many things about the hotel were surprising. Very clean room. Was provided a late check-out upon request.

Came here to during a trip to take my daughter to her first concert (Beababedoobee - I'm sure I spelled that wrong). My daughter picked the place off the internet. Since I wasn't familiar with the area it ended up being farther from downtown than I thought it would be. I didn't feel unsafe in the area but it's among a row of motels. The ambiance is cute. But the room was smaller than I expected. wasn't thrilled that there was no real closet or drawer space and the bathroom was tight too ( although the bath products were a plus). The bed sheets on one of the beds were actually not that clean and it looked like blood spots were on them so the teen and I shared a bed. Now the restaurant food was super good though as were the drinks and the portions generous for the price. This wouldn't be my first choice were I to return to the area. And as a Marriot Bonvoy member I guess I expected a little more.
