We've ordered takeout from the Italian Peasant on our last two trips to Tubac and have had great experiences both times. Our first visit was on Fourth of July, when we ordered a pizza and baked ziti. Both were delicious and we were relieved to have a fridge in our hotel room, since the portions were quite generous. During our visit on New Year's Eve, we had garlic knots, a Caesar salad and cheese ravioli. All excellent, again. And despite a very busy restaurant that appeared to be a bit short staffed, everything came out quickly and without issue. We usually travel with our dogs, so dine-in hasn't been an option yet, but the restaurant is a great space with nice ambiance and fun decor. We'll definitely be back on our next visit.

We were coming back after spending time across the boarder and looking for a lunch place. We decided to give this place a try. It was a little busy (got busier while we ate) but we found a table (seat yourself). It was a little bit before our drink order was taken but they were delivered and food order taken right after. My daughter and I split the bolognese - which was $19.99 and didn't come with any thing else. Luckily I ordered Garlic Knots (6) but that was an additional $6.99. My husband got half meatball sandwich w/french fries. Overall the food was okay (taste wise) but cost wise & what was received was steep. Although those around us mentioned that they "drive all the way out here" to get their pizza. Still give it a shot as you may have a different experience

We have visited the Italian Peasant several times and have enjoyed the food, and service each time. The Italian food is good, I especially love the bolognese sauce, so meaty and and rich. They have the best Alfredo sauce too. The Greek salad is giant and so good. The antipasto board is good but for me, not fond of the egg plant. They also have vergood hamburgers and clam chowder. Sadly, I always forget to take pictures, I so enjoy our visits to the Italian Peasant that I put my phone away and just immerse my self in the dining experience.

Surprised this place had mediocre reviews in Yelp. We went to celebrate 2 birthdays and everyone in our party said "definitely coming back". We shared all the food we ordered from pizza to garlic knots to pasta, and we loved them all. Delicious, fresh, tasty and authentic. The pizza crust is fabulous. A must go ! Great food, clean, good service. Not a fancy place but very open. Those bad reviewers need to have and give it another chance. You will change your mind!

Rating a 1 star for a few reasons. We went a few days ago and we ordered garlic knots and they were never delivered. Our waiter never checked on us after taking our order as well. It took thirty minutes to get our check. We noticed he was very attentive to one or two tables and the rest of us waited forever for our checks. Once we got our check I had to have him correct it as he charged me for the garlic knots and for a large salad when I had a side salad. My spaghetti and meatballs were served lukewarm & the meatballs had no flavor. My husband enjoyed his pizza and in laws enjoyed their lasagna & bolognese pasta. For the 4 dishes, side salad, & 3 drinks it was over $122. For the portions and food we received I felt this was very high. We decided we'd give it one more try after going a year or so ago and & also not having the best experience. The last time we had lackluster service and the pasta to go with my eggplant parm was served cold.I would not suggest this restaurant unfortunately unless you have all the time in the world and prefer your food on the colder side.

Years ago this place opened as a Pizzeria.. owner from New York knew how to make pizza. Unfortunately he died and the restaurant has gone through several owners. Pizza is ok, but I always order crisp but not burnt thin crust. Full Italian menu available

Italian Peasant was a decent value. The pricing was a little off putting, but the portions were generous. We ordered two soft drinks that were 20 oz (at least), Artichoke/Spinach Dip, Caesar Salad, Regular-Size Baked Ziti and one of their chalkboard Specials, Cod Piccata. The pacing of our service was nonchalant and unusual. We grabbed a couple of menus and seated ourselves (customary per the signage). Our server came quickly and brought our drinks with same speed. We placed our orders and were surprised to see my huge Caesar arrive first. He placed the salad in the middle of the table as you would an appetizer, as if we were both to dig into it. This salad would have easily fed 3 people. It was well-constructed (I ordered extra dressing for 50 cents) and pretty good. I would have shared the salad, but no additional plates were brought to the table and my guest declined the salad. The Dip was served after about 10 minutes (we had expected it to be served first), but, after waiting about 5 minutes, had to ask a different server for the bread that came with it. This appetizer was steaming HOT and was easily enough for at least two hearty consumers. Our server did bring plates this time, and although the flavor of the Dip was delicious, the artichokes in the dip weren't cut to a size that was dip-able. Our server hadn't brought any bread, but we flagged down the other server and were presented with 5 toasted slices. We then received the Ziti and Cod, and although the Ziti looked good (and was delicious), my Cod Piccata looked like fish and chips (fish sticks kinda burnt) and french fries. I thought, well, this is the way they prepare piccata in Tubac. I wasn't ready for fried food, but I tried a couple of the fish sticks (sized like mozzarella sticks) , then decided to re-look at the chalkboard to make sure I saw what I saw. I then saw Cod Filets with French Fries also on the chalkboard specials along with the Cod Piccata and one or two other specials and realized the server's misunderstanding. He was good enough to remove the Cod entree from the bill, after offering to correct the entree. I declined the offer as my companion had pretty much finished their meal. Our tab was $65.23 for sodas, salad, dip and ziti not including tip) and went back to our hotel with 3 boxes pretty much filled with Salad, Dip and Ziti. We wouldn't mind trying this restaurant again because the menu is fairly extensive and varied. And we're now forewarned about the large portion sizes that go along with the prices.
