After a misunderstanding over my appointments (which prompted my previous low rating on Yelp), Dr. Patel and I met and came to a very satisfactory conclusion. We are now back on excellent terms.Dr. Patel and his staff are very thorough and efficient. I highly recommend Surya Psychiatric Clinic.

I've been a patient at Surya for about a year at this point, and have only met with Dr. Patel in person once. The entail meeting went well enough, and I was given a diagnosis within an hour, which was unexpected, but I appreciated the solid feedback in such a short amount of time. That said, I've had multiple appointments canceled on me with only a days notice since then, and rescheduling has always taken between 4-6 weeks. The only followup I was able to do with Dr. Patel was over the phone, which was a measly 10 minutes long (a late apmt. on a Friday - it seemed like he just wanted to get off the phone and go home). I felt VERY rushed and unheard. What's more, he didn't acknowledge the diagnosis he gave me 6 months prior, and claimed I only had indicators for that diagnosis instead. On top of that, the diagnosis was never documented, which could very well cause problems for me down the road.I've also been unable to get in touch with someone at the front desk recently. You're insisted to contact them through the patient portal. The portal would have it's benefits - if they actually updated your patient profile and documented your diagnosis. That comes off as being INCREDIBLY lazy and impersonal. This practice has caused more stress than it's been worth, and the experience absolutely hasn't been worth the copays. Such a disappointment, especially considering I was refereed to Surya by another mental health professional. They constantly claim to be "dedicated professionals" on their incredibly long phone recording (something else the use to avoid actually talking to a patient over the phone), but I never felt like I was being cared for when working with this "team." They've shown they aren't actually interested in working with clients, let alone actually helping them through their mental health journeys. I can't help but wonder why some people work in this field. Is he just doing it for the money? I wonder what karma has to say about that.

Calling and setting up a telehealth appointment was really easy. Dr. Patel was able to see me within a week. I confirmed with them that they took my insurance (always double check with your insurance company too). The visit went smoothly and I left with what I needed. However. After the appointment, I got a call from the really nice people at the front desk, saying there was an issue with my insurance. I won't get into too many details because I'm still trying to get them to call me back, but let's just say both my insurance company and I paid them in full for my visit, which I'm pretty sure is a no-no. I had to spend several hrs on the phone with my insurer making sure I hadn't messed up in the info I gave the clinic (I had not). Then they suddenly stopped answering the phone, and the answering service loops you back to the main menu regardless of which option you choose (new patient, prescription refill, other question, billing- all goes back to the main menu). I keep leaving messages and have not gotten a callback so my trust in this clinic has begun to disintegrate a little. If they correct the billing error, and return my calls, I will update my post. Otherwise, please be aware that you need to walk the billing office through everything because-according to them and my insurance company- they do things like look into your policy online but refrain from calling to confirm benefits. This can leave you thinking you aren't covered for their services even if you are. Not very professional of whatever company handles their billing, in my opinion. So full stars for Dr. Patel- he was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. And a "TBD" instead of stars for the practice itself because collecting the full $ from both me and my insurer and then weirdly ceasing to return any of my calls seems shady to me. And not following best practices for insurance coding and billing is a red flag. But I'm happy to update my review if (and hopefully when) they sort out the issue.

Dr. Patel was incredibly disrespectful. He kept telling me I was cutting him off, when he was the one cutting me off. He failed to provide a thorough and complete evaluation before providing his opinion. Additionally, his office required a $75 deposit prior to appointment and any amounts beyond my responsibility was supposed to be refunded to me. Despite contacting the office and it being over a month after my insurance company has resolved the insurance claim, I have no refund to be seen. I'll be filing a complaint with the medical board next week. Another pompous quack.

Impossible to get prescription refills w/o contacting them 4-5 times. They asked me to make a follow-up appointment, but I'm still out of meds. Good luck.

I spent considerable time and money on TMS treatments, including paying out of pocket for additional treatments at their recommendation, which did little or nothing. I question the high success rate of TMS that the industry touts. Also, at the completion of the treatments, I was told that it was not successful and was wished good luck. There were no recommendations or suggestions or help with my current condition.

Dr. Patel was mean, arrogant and judgemental not to mentiondisrespectful. I agree completely with the prior negative reviewand I'm also wondering if they will refund my $75.
