Super Carniceria El Herradero

There's something about these tiny neighborhood carnicerías that just make my heart skip. This is one of the tiniest I've ever been to and isn't as fully stocked as most but it still has a full service meat counter with great sales! There's a gentleman always roasting chile's and grilling in the parking. He greets you with a wave a smile when you pull up! I've been dying to strike a conversation with him. Maybe next time, they told me you can buy steaks there and he'll cook them right then and there for you. Yum!

THE BEST Chorizo we have ever had! Can't wait to try more of their meat and food. My husband ran in to grab some chorizo and told me about all the awesome other things they offer. Soups, tamales and a wide variety of meats and more.

Herradero is a family meat market and deli chain in Tucson, with some of the most excellent Mexican food and ingredients in the Sonoran Desert. Whether it's their meat and Mexican cheese selection, the deli, or their selection of delicious corn and flour tortillas among the most well-made available anywhere (La Noria Brand corn tortillas come in two sizes and are THE BEST corn tortillas in town), or their fresh green corn and pork tamales, you can't beat it. The chorizo is fabulous. They sell both pork and beef and a third kind which is a mix of both pork and beef. Unlike the greasy meatless thing that passes for chorizo in L.A., this is the real deal. Their nopales en chile colorado con carne de puerco is scary good and I seem to keep discovering more goodies everytime I go there. Jamaica, spices, herbs, cactus, chiles, veladoras, you name it. Next to the check-out counter they have a small pharmacy section that sells Mexican medicinal products that are effective and popular for good reason. You can even get a quick lunch from the small deli that will fill your tummy but won't break the bank. Love this place!!!!
