Enormous selection of scopes, from older than me (58) to brand new in the box. The person who runs the business, Frank, is very knowledgeable about telescopes and helps figure out alternatives. I know a bit about scopes, but an injury makes what I need a little specific.I did not listen, bought the wrong one, came back the next day and listened and got the right; a Celestron 6SE. No problem: he took care of me, no "financial penalty". I go there for advice and accessories. Between him and the various amateur astronomers popping in and out, I've learned a lot. Thank you!

Had a pair of binoculars repaired here. Price was fair, service was MUCH faster than sending them off. The owner is a nice guy and knows his stuff.

My husband stopped by here today and found many problems within the store. He has many years with Astronomy and he was appalled by the condition of the things they were selling. The scopes, lenses, and other products were ALL covered in a thick film of dust! The whole store was unorganized and cluttered. When asked a question, the staff showed they were uneducated about products and about Astronomy itself. It was as if someone started the business and just decided to abandon the place. This is suppose to be an expertise shop with Astronomy but it appears as if they have gone downhill. You can get a better deal online and get complete and correct answers to your questions. For example: http://www.telescopes.com/ is a good place to go.

I am conducting a research study for which I need a microscope and a camera.I had the microscope and called around to find the camera. Frank said he could help so I brought the relevant part of the scope into Frank's establishment. He said there were two cameras, a low pixel option and a high pixel option. I chose the high pixel one but then needed an adapter.Frank blew smoke up my tailpipes for 6 weeks (he is only open Fri, Sat and Sunday and NEVER answers texts, has a phone with no voice mail and ignores emails).I was told a month ago that his machinist friend would make an adapter for "anywhere between free and $100" and I told Frink to have him do it.Weeks went by. Finally, on Friday, Frank called me to say that he was swinging by the shop that evening to pick up the adapter. I told him that I would appreciate a call on Friday after he picked it up and would come by the next day to get it and the camera. He agreed. No call.No response to my texts or my [no voicemail] phone calls (of course). I went to his shop, which was open. There was no adapter. No call to save me the trip and no adapter, no visit to the machinist, I presume, as well. But he did pull out some sort of cheap camera that was of far too low a resolution to meet my needs and tried to sell me that.I told him what I thought of his way of conducting business by lying to his customers and then trying to sell them crap and walked out.Go somewhere else unless you enjoy doing business with a liar.

Was disappointed to find that during the height of Covid-19, this store's owner, (as well as at least one head person up in their competitor's store, Starizona) is obviously "anti-masker" person who couldn't care less about passing on the virus to their customers and their families. In fact, there's an energy there that they almost want you to mention they aren't wearing a mask so they can parrot some AM-radio "alt-right" rant. Lovely. In addition, this store was a completely filthy mess -- dust everywhere, and all the equipment on sale looked disheveled. From the prices matched with the visible shape of the equipment, I'd say this store is a complete rip-off. I will not be returning, and buying all astronomy equipment in the future online.

"Hundreds" of used scopes available. 1/2 the cost of a new scope. Frank seemed like a decent guy, and said if there was anything wrong with the scope to bring it back and he'd fix it. So far it seems to work fine but spent most of the first night practicing alignment. Stellar Vision's a one man show, so be prepared to wait a bit if the place is busy. There is a fair amount of dust on the scopes as he keeps the doors (front and back) open. But he gives the scope a good cleaning before it goes out the door. I'm too new to telescopes in general, so it will take a bit for me to determine if I have a good piece of kit or not. Seems fine as I could align and point to Jupiter in a short while. Took 4 attempts to do power on alignment for this first-timer, but I got the job done. Viewing was poor with full moon and city lights, but I could see the bands of Jupiter (if a bit hazy) and 3 of it's moons. The Moon was too bright for an f/10 OTA and was washed out (I need an ND filter), but focus seemed decent as far as I could tell.

As a resident of both New York and Tucson, the "telescope shop" as my kids call it, is always on the "to do" list when I'm in town. The product offering is awesome, prices reasonable, owners/staff are super friendly, and their knowledge is deeply informed. I have yet to go to a night viewing session, but it sounds like fun and a great way to preview tech before a purchase.

Stellar Vision is a different kind of astronomy shop. Although it is possible to buy new equipment from Frank, most of his stock consists of used equipment. He literally has hundreds of used SCTs, refractors and reflectors of all description. Admittedly, most of the stuff is pretty old, but occasionally he does have some nice scopes/mounts for sale. I was looking for a used 8" SCT for star parties and found exactly what I wanted at Stellar Vision. It is a 10 year+ old Celestron GPS Nexstar 8. Used equipment is hard to evaluate in a store during the daytime, so I gave Frank a check for the purchase with the understanding that I could take the scope home and check it out overnight. I sent him an email with the details of the deal in writing. If anything was wrong, I could bring it back for a full refund (he held my check). Well, the scope GPS did not work, so I did bring it back. But Frank fixed the problem within 24 hours and I ended up buying the scope. Frank, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with and very knowledgeable. The price I paid was no bargain, but a fair price. I would certainly do business with him again. Note that Stellar Vision is pretty much a one man show, so be sure to call ahead to make sure the store is open and someone is there. He does have regular hours, but occasionally steps out on other business. Even if you don't buy anything, it is a interesting place to visit. And don't mind the dust! You might just find a jewel under it!
