Sonora Mia Restaurante

What a great find! Tucked away in a group of stores, we had to hunt for a few minutes but once inside we felt at home. Honest Mexican food at reasonable prices with a charming staff (three people total, this is a small, probably family-run cafe).

I was excited to try Sonora mia, especially after reading all the rave reviews. I invited some out-of-town guests, hoping to share a fantastic dining experience. Unfortunately, our visit didn't quite meet our expectations.I ordered the chimichanga and requested melted cheese on top, but what I received was a plate with shredded cheese that was not melted, piled under a mound of lettuce and tomatoes. When I brought this to the server's attention, he apologized but didn't offer to correct the issue, which was disappointing.Additionally, the food overall lacked flavor, leaving us feeling underwhelmed. Given that we were a larger group, it's possible they struggled to keep track of the custom orders, but it still didn't justify the lack of attention to detail.While I'm tempted to give Sonoramia another chance next time we're in town, this visit was a letdown. I hope they can improve on these aspects, as the potential for a great meal is certainly there. The food wasn't terrible, it just wasn't great.

Great lil place for breakfast and lunch! We had Chilaquiles, pancakes, oatmeal, and a shredded beef chimichanga. All were delicious and the service prompt. You order at the front and they will bring it out to you. If you happen to find yourself in Tubac, don't miss this gem.

Wonderful fast casual Mexican restaurant located behind Tumacookery in the La Entrada Shopping Plaza. It's a bit hard to find but so worth it! Great food! I love that they serve bottled Topo Chico and Jarritos - and my husband loves fountain drinks so best of both worlds. Try the Carne Asada fries!

Liked it ...Will Go Back!.- My wife and I have had a late breakfast here three times over the past two weeks. Food was very good. People were friendly. I will continue going here.- Today, We had the daily special which was tacos made the old fashioned way: fold soft corn tortillas around meat, and then fry them. They were really good.- We've had the carne asada fries: very interesting and very good. Pancake breakfast: very good. Chilaquiles: excellent! (I have never liked chilaquiles until stealing some of Sonoramia's version from my wife's plate.)- To properly align your expectations ...this is a small place, sorta like a neighborhood café in Mexico. There are six indoor tables, plus more on the patio. When I was here, orders were placed at the counter and then delivered to the table. Food cooked from fresh ingredients, as opposed to (what I call) prefab Sysco rip-the-bag-and-fry food.(I apologize for the quality of the photos; they were taken - not as review photos - but for the purpose of sharing with friends.)- One final thought: The locals are eating here ...

Amazing Tubac restaurant! Stopped in on opening day and had an amazing experience! The food was fresh and beautifully prepared and artfully platted. I sat on the new patio yet was not forgotten. The staff was very attentive and made sure I enjoyed my food and experience. I had a chimichanga for lunch - but can't wait to go back soon for breakfast!!

Found this gem on our first visit to Tubac and would go back just to eat here again. My chimichanga was light and crispy outside, stuffed with aromatic carne asada and accompanied by fresh tomato, cucumber, lettuce. My partner's tostadas with shredded pork were equally fresh and delicious. We sat outside in the relaxing patio, sipped our fresh fruit drinks (mine mango, hers lime), and enjoyed welcoming and friendly service. Couldn't have asked for a better lunch in Tubac.

Fairly small family owned business with great food served with lots of HEART. I had the CEVICHE , which was fresh and tasty. The girls had the Mexican shrimp dish. Very tasty, including the unique beans and rice. Had churros for dessert...YUMMY

We just had a super fresh, delicious lunch here. The staff is attentive and the service is fast. We will be back next time we visit Tubac!Yelp has the location incorrect within the plaza. If you are having a hard time finding it, it's next to Horses in Motion.
