As anyone who's lived in Sierra Vista for any length of time will tell you, small towns run on word-of-mouth. If you're looking for the best diner, the best plumber, the best doctor, etc., all you have to do is ask a few longtime residents and you're good to go. Which is great, if you know the right people; not-so-great if you're a newbie. But, after ten years here I thought I was well past newbie status...that is, until, by word of mouth, I stumbled upon Barbra McCraney and The Social Register. A successful, highly professional, completely wonderful FULL SERVICE CATERER (big deal in these parts) that has been in business for nearly 30 years yet has practically ZERO internet presence - hence the reason I didn't know about her. Because I'm a total web-nerdy newb. But Barbra, she's old school, all right, with a personality so bright and lovable, and years of experience so distinguished, it shines through every aspect of her business. From our initial meeting to discuss menus/linens/servers/bartenders details for my company's holiday party, to the final wrap of our skillfully executed event, the Social Register staff were consummate pros. And the food, I can only describe it as down home cooking meets upscale flavor. Lots of yum. Also worth mentioning: "Death by Chocolate" - out of this world! Truly. As in, must have arrived from another planet because I don't enjoy chocolate cake, ever (so, possibly I'm the alien), but my husband insisted I try a bite and, holy crap! Rich but not heavy, decadent but somehow light; too magical for words, just sooooo goooood! And there you go. Now you know. Tell your friends. Let them eat cake!
