I am a foster for SARA and have had the pleasure of loving and socializing several different cats. They are wonderful, fun and sweet cats. The director, Stacy does everything that she can for her cats and her people and you can tell that she puts her heart out there. She loves what she does and so do we. Can't wait to foster my next batch so that we can spread a little more love in the world

I'm a foster for SARA. It's a small animal rescue group and I love it, a very good experience for a first time foster. Stacey, the boss, loves what she does a d practically bends over backwards to help her fosters and adopters. We like to keep it small that way we really know the personality of all of our cats and match them up with appropriate fosters and adopters. All cats are 95$ which covers spay/neuter, micro-chipping, age-appropriate shots, FIV/FeLV testing, and any other necessary medical care completed.Food, litter, and money donations are all accepted and go directly to animal upkeep.

They would rather keep a kitten inside of a 2x2' cage than let a loving family who has an existing indoor-outdoor cat adopt him.We specifically noted in our application that we had an indoor outdoor cat at home but they still let us go through the motions. We waited for a week, scheduled a home visit, visited the cat multiple times at PetSmart, only to have a third party contact us to tell us we were denied. We specified that the new adopted cat would be indoors only but were still denied. We are appalled and sad. Considering we were even willing to make our indoor-outdoor cat indoors to be considered. So so sad.We hope Cedric finds a home as warm and loving as ours would have been.

RUDE!! I called asking for help for a depressed kitty that I was doing everything possible to keep from sending her to a kill shelter. I called and left a message explaining that she was a particular kind of kitty and best suited in a home where she was the only pet. A man called me back, he didn't even bother to ask me any questions. he was clearly exasperated, in fact, he sounded almost insulted that I had even bothered to call them for help in the first place. He told me that they can't take a cat who can't be around other cats. Well, she's dead now. She got sick, so I could not, in good conscience, get rid of her, or send her to a shelter. So, I worked with her, until she could go no further. Hyperthyroidism was the disease and she did not respond well to the medication. In the end, we had to make the agonizing end of life decision for her and we let her go. Of course, she would have gotten sick, regardless of whether the shelter stepped up to help, or not, but I am still posting this because it is abundantly clear that they do not want to have to go above and beyond for the cats. They just want it to make pretend that they do.

I've adopted two cats from SARA and they were informative and supportive every step of the way. The process includes a home inspection. As a first time cat owner, this was very helpful for understanding things I needed to watch out for. They know the personalities of their cats and were able to help me choose a second one when my first kitty got lonely.

I attempted to adopt a cat in need and was blindsided by the application process. I filled out an application in the store and was question about my answers in front of everybody And made me feel really uncomfortable. The director made me feel like I had to answer for every foreseeable issue that would happen if I adopted the cat. As if I have a crystal ball and can tell them all the potential areas of how I will protect a cat. I get it they are taking care of their kittens but expecting a future cat owner to have answers to all these unforeseeable circumstances and what if scenarios was ridiculous. Then I was told that the decision wasn't even the directors decision and it was a foster parents decision based on my application. I never even had a chance to meet the foster parent or schedule a home visit. I have had indoor cats for over 30 years of my life and know how to care for them. My application was denied based on their presumptive answers to their own questions. With so many cats that need a home they made me feel like a circus animal jumping through hoops trying to help them out. This organization is very controlling and you better go get your fortune checked before you try to adopt because you need to know what can happen in the future so that you answer their questions properly. Or else you can expect the same experience that I received.

We tried to "adopt" a cat from SARA. It was a disaster. They said the cat was house broken, and shy, and would probably take a week or two to adjust. Later we learned that the cat hid under the bed at the previous place and the litter had to be placed under the bed with the cat. The cat went under a couch for two weeks, pissed on the couch and floor when we were gone. So we would have had to keep the litter box in the living room. When we tried to move the cat to a room where she could do less damage, she appeared to be feral and ran around the house in a sheer panic. Finally we came to our senses and told them to come get the cat. They took the cat. We asked for our $95 back (yes, very, very pricey) and they basically said it was our fault, that they would refund $45 and we would "donate" the rest. I never agreed to a donation. I see that many of the cats on there website are diseased. This cat is up for adoption again. Buyer beware.
