Reviews can vary depending upon the time of year you visit. Fun facts - Planted in 1885 with cuttings from a"Lady Banksia Rose" that had been sent from Scotland, as the tree was first declared the "world's largest" in the late 1930's and has only continued to grow since then. The canopy of the bush-cum-tree now covers nearly 5,000 feet of space and is elevated from the ground by a series of wooden and steel supports. Each year, after the shed husks are cleaned out from around the base of the tree, the plant blossoms with clusters of small white roses. website http://tombstonerosetree.com

Fun museum to visit while in Tombstone. Interesting history and photos. The highlight of this is the world's largest rose bush- and it's quite impressive and like none other I have seen. Bloom season has just ended and so the beautiful white petals covered the floor or danced down the rafters while standing there creating a beautiful effect. While the smell of roses lingered I could only imagine the fragrance during bloom season. Cheap admission.

That was the biggest rose bush I've ever seen. I wonder what it looks like when it's in bloom?

Fun and inexpensive stop. Located right across from the trolley depot, you ca get get $1 off the entrance fee of $5pp if you show them your trolley ticket. The location houses the World's Largest Rose Tree (in Ripley's Believe it or Not) which blooms each April. We were there while it was in bloom and figured let's go see this famous tree. My mom loved it and I thought it was pretty cool. I didn't realize they also had a museum too until we got inside. The tree is located in an inner courtyard and is like 8000 sq feet with a 6-ft trunk base. They hold it up with pillars. Because the area completely covers the courtyard, the tree is called the Shady Lady. The rose was brought over from Scotland in the 1880s and the same family has owned the location since shortly thereafter. The guy that runs the entrance is the great great grandson of the woman who saved the tree and kept it going. So talk to him as he (as well as the tree) is a living part of Tombston history! The museum is also very nice and has a cute cat who was sleeping so comfy on a historic bed :D

Worth it to see the huge Rose Tree (very picture worthy as well) but also check out the other artifacts and static displays of what real life was like back then. I'd arrive early as it becomes a little crowded later on during the day. One of the landmarks of Tombstone that should not be missed.

I have lived in Vail AZ for 15 years and it was not until recently that someone I work with asked me if I have ever been to see the worlds largest rose bush in Tombstone. I had NO idea what he was talking about, as many times as I have been to Tombstone. How did I not know about this gem of a museum/site?We made a special drive up, it was worth it even through the rose bush was not in bloom. It costs $5 to get in -- totally worth it (your ticket is a cute postcard you can send to someone). There is SO much history in the museum part of this site. So many cool historical artifacts. The rose bush is gargantuan. I actually just sat out there and looked at it for 30 minutes... there are little tables/chairs outside. There is also an adorable dog that pads around the museum, his owner mans the front desk as you enter. Any place that is dog friendly, is a place I am gonna love.

It was fun to walk through the museum, and also to see the garden in the back. It was serene and unlike anything I've seen. It would look even nicer in April, although it's still lovely during other times of the year.

Somehow somewhere I heard about a "Tombstone Rose"... and you can only get them "IN" Tombstone... So for some reason I just knew that I had to get one!I walked around town like a fool thinking where am I going to find this elusive "Tombstone Rose" ... and right around the corner I see this sign... my mind had to think about a it a bit... so stop in and asked "Do you have a Tombstone Rose?" Why yes, they did! They have cuttings planted to sell, she said for me to go in and pick one out so I got the see the huge Rose Tree while I was in there... very cool! I didn't look around at the museum but I'm sure it's cool too. When in Tombstone... plan to bring home a "Tombstone Rose"!!!

If you love Western history and are looking for a very interesting small local history museum in Tombstone -- with a truly remarkable (world's largest!) rose TREE thrown in -- do go to the Rose Tree Museum. When I think of roses, my only reference is bushes. The Rose Tree is simply amazing. You have to see it to believe itAnd, if you're a gardening enthusiast, you can even buy cuttings for your own garden -- who knows, in 150 years your roses (well, probably not YOURS) might be pronounced by Ripley's Believe It or Not as the World's Largest Rose Tree?
