This is what happens when true creativity, art and community improvement come together! The Rattlesnake Bridge is a unique, functional piece of art that is as pleasing to look at as it is to use! There's a lot of road construction at his silver fanged head so we started at the back end and walked through, it's pretty cool to be in the belly of a snake!! It's not the best neighborhood area and there are folks that have decided to call the area home so be aware of your surroundings just like anywhere else nowadays! Perhaps the Tucson Art Academy could take an interest and clean it up, after all, it is an artists creation!

If you've read my Spruce Street Suspension Bridge review, you'd already know my partner is an urban planner/transit advocate. Whenever we go somewhere new, we always check out that city's metro system or unique infrastructures. He wasn't with me on this trip so I decided to surprise him with a tale of my adventures to the Rattlesnake Bridge (this bridge has a rattlesnake tail...yes I sent him the picture to accompany the tale).I found this spot on Yelp and it was an adventure finding it in person. There is no parking next to it, so I had to park at Iron Horse park and walk around until I found an entrance to it. Note: If you're coming from that side, the ramp to the bridge is closer to the main street. I think my favorite part of the bridge was the rattlesnake tail at the end. It's fun to be able to say I've been inside a snake.

not a business. more of a landmark. was first bolt as a cobwebs Brodhead to keep people from throwing rocks over the edge. High schoolers! Head and tail were added later to make it look less plain Jane.

The name literally says it all... A bridge that looks like a snake. We were spending the day in Tucson and were looking for touristy things to do. Being a pretty small city, there isn't a crazy amount of things to do. I just happened to stumble across this bridge on Yelp and thought it looked so quirky... so off we went! It's located in Iron Horse park, which isn't really the nicest park, nor was it very nice of an area. But not completely horrible.... I just would not recommend going after sunset. It's a bridge that you can cross over, and that's about it. But it's a neat photo spot.... I mean, how many snake bridges do you see in other places?!

First of all, the directions don't take you to the bridge. It's about 2 blocks over.Second, once we found it, we had to walk past a park where a homeless man was urinating in a trash can. Third, graffiti everywhereFourth, 3 teenagers walked by and started whispering when we passed them on the path. That in itself was very uncomfortable.Lastly, we decided to take a shortcut back to the car and we walked down a path to find out that we walked upon the the homeless bathroom. There was literally human feces everywhere and even on the wall. I do not suggest this stop. Although it was ever so slightly interesting, the experience as a whole was a tad frightening and definitely not worth the stop.

Snake bridge is another one of those "love it or hate it" things in Tucson....but I gotta say I'm mostly a fan. How often do you see a pedestrian bridge that resembles a rattlesnake? And how often do you see one that rattles when you walk across it? I love crossing this bridge during Meet Me at Maynards. You see all kinds of people walking, running, cycling, etc. As others have noted, the bridge could use some love...this bridge was voted one of the nation's best road projects, after all.

Rattlesnake bridge has been on my Tucson bucket list since I moved here, 9 years ago. Finally, I can cross it off. It's a beautiful eye catching piece of art. This week we checked it out. The bridge is way shorter than it seems. It has that tucson southwestern novelty though. Great view & fun to walk. There's a little park not far from the mouth of the bridge.Parking... If your like me & just wanted to see the bridge. I would park in the del taco parking lot & walk over to the tail of the bridge. The business closest to the bridge is private parking.

It only gets better. On Craigslist today there was a post on "strictly platonic" that read the following:-snip-Hey any UA guys down to Streak the Snake? - m4m - 420 (Bdwy-Euclid)Reply to: [email protected]: 2008-08-12, 10:51AM MSTHey anyone down for a late-nite streak over the Diamondback Snake Bridge? Was there last nite around 3am and it was perfect - they even have the lights turned off.C'mon, let's party & live a little - hit me back!-/snip-I would so streak the snake, but that post very clearly excluded chicks and it's not my place to turn their experimental temporary dude ranch into something they don't want. I may show up just to see the nakedly platonic parade and hear how many times these guys trigger the rattle.

While I can't give the Bridge a full 5stars, I do appreciate its uniqueness. I run the Aviation Bike Path pretty much every week, so getting across Park/Euclid/1st/Whatever on the bridge is obligatory.I suggest one change, though. Repaint the bad boy. It should 'pop' a little more.

Gaudy architecture that actually has a bit of fun spazz to it. You can ride your bike across it late at night (avoid walking), you can even piss on it, unless they've put cameras up. Oh no.
