I went here this past Saturday evening and it was actually my second time here as the first time was attached to my Sonora moonshine review. My first time was great. After resting at the restaurant we learned about the speakeasy, got a card to gain entry, texted the number, and went in a bit later. The staff asked great questions to understand our desires and brought delicious drinks. The vibe was nice as was comfy seating. This second time was no different. This time a male staff helped my friends and I. He went above and beyond in service!! My friend had a drink pulled up on her phone that she wanted but unfortunately they didn't have the mint liquor so she went with something else. However when he brought out the drinks, he had scoured his inventory and found what he needed to bring her the original drink she wanted! Another friend didn't really drink her drink and he noticed at the end and inquired about it (something I wish more servers would do at restaurants but they don't seem to care like this), anyway she wrote it off but he persisted and made sure she left happy! I really appreciated that kind of service. The also had live music this time which really added to the vibe. I'm so proud of Tucson for having a spade like this. It was really cool and worth visiting!

Prohibición is a must-visit if you're in the mood for a bespoke cocktail! The bartender asked my friend and me about our preferred alcohol, flavor-profile likes and dislikes, favorite added elements, and whether we preferred a booze-forward or more mellow cocktail, and then disappeared behind the bar to work magic for us. She produced two utterly unique cocktails, and both of us loved them! I wish I'd written down what the bartender told me of mine, but here's what I remember: it was a wintery play on an Old Fashioned, with pomegranate and cranberry joining the usual orange, and it was smoked with rosemary. It was really, really fabulous. The speakeasy aspect is fun as well -- chat with the staff upstairs at Sonora Moonshine for directions on how to be escorted down to the dimly-lit, red-light and leather basement.

Been wanting to try this place for quite some time now. It did NOT disappoint. This is probably one of my favorite bars downtown. The ambience is dark and intimate. The bartenders were so friendly and the cocktails were incredible, unlike anything I've ever had before. There is no cocktail menu, so they really spend time to get to know your drink of choice and flavor profiles you like and don't like. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you're looking for a great drink.

Very cool experience! Wow. I loved the atmosphere and the hued lighting. The service was stellar. Bartender asks what flavors you like and they make you something. If you don't like it no big deal, they'll make you another. However, the bartender was on it tonight and made the most delicious drink. 1 drink with tip was $20... but probably best drink I've ever had. Would recommend 100%.

Prohibicion is the speakeasy bar that is located in the basement of Sonora Moonshine. The idea is neat, you have to text a phone number to see if there is room and be invited to be able to access the speakeasy. A little disappointed that the waitress at Sonora Moonshine gave us the number and let us wait around, only to tell us later when we asked her how long people typically wait, that the speakeasy was not going to be open for another hour. It's information that would have been helpful to share proactively. We eventually (30 min or so later) got a text back that confirmed availability and told us to come by "around 6". We returned to Sonora Moonshine just before 6 pm and waited for a bit. The waitress asked us if we were told to go wait by "the door". The text we had received only gave us a vague idea of time, and no location or other instructions were included. I understand this place opened not long ago and they're still working out the details, so I'll be lenient on this.Eventually someone came up and escorted us along with another party downstairs. The space is nice and very speakeasy-ish but it was hard to find coherence in the theme. There was retro music (excellent, by the way) playing, some furniture (will upload pictures when my review is live), red lighting, two neons that read "Prohibicion" but also weird colored lasers in the staircase that didn't seem to match the rest. No other touches that would help define a theme or amke the place more unique, either. There is a menu upon request, but the bar specializes on crafting personalized drinks so if you're willing to go that route, you won't see a menu at all. The bartender will ask you questions about your preferences in drinks and flavors, and create something just for you, which is fun. Our drinks were good, no complaints there. We didn't know how much they cost until we got the bill (I believe they were $16-$18 a piece, in line with what you'd expect for a place like this nowadays). We had to be somewhere else by 7:30. We let our waiter/bartender know we had to leave, settled our bill, took a few photos in the staircase, and then found ourselves stranded. We later found out that the staff has a remote control to open and close the door that leads out of the basement. We were surprised that the bartender, who was aware we were on our way out, and likely saw us leave / take photos in the staircase on our way out didn't make sure to open the door for us. No one told us a remote control was needed and we looked everywhere for a button to open the door. You would think that would be needed, for emergencies at least. All in all, a nice little space with a neat idea behind it. The execution was a bit wobbly, but again, we went early on after it opened, so they may still be working things out.

Cool basement bar with cocktails made to your flavor preferences. Not sure if they can do this on busier nights, but it was an awesome idea. I told the bartender my preferences for flavors and got a great cocktail that doesn't really have a name. The place is quaint. The photo of the paper is the notes the bartender took of flavor preferences.

Prohibición is such a fun addition to the downtown basement bar scene with curated cocktails for all palates. I came with a friend on a Friday night around 8, and we were able to head down to the bar right away, but when we left at about 9, there were people outside waiting, so keep that in mind when planning your evening. Our bartender was friendly and eager to create something we'd love. My drink was refreshing and fruity, just like I'd requested. My friend is a bit more adventurous and asked for something with savory elements, and the bartender delivered on that request, too, with elements of cucumber and salt. Because they cater to your individual tastes, drinks can take longer to make here, so I recommend coming when you have the time to sit back and enjoy without feeling rushed. It's a really unique spot, and I look forward to all the surprising flavors I'll experience on my next visit!

Some of the best cocktails I've ever had! I love the personalization in making the drinks! The mixologist has a conversation with you about your tastes and spirits you like, and whips up some of the most amazing drinks you'll ever have! Atmosphere is intimate and perfect for a date night. This will probably be a regular stop anytime I'm in the Tucson area!

Upbeat jazz and red lighting for cool vibes. Bathroom also had moody lighting, but too moody and it was hard to see.Bartender was friendly and eager to please. He really tried to make sure he captured our tastes and improvised successfully.Water refills didn't happen unless we asked. Service was slow once more people arrived, but not his fault since he was the only bartender on duty.
