The chocolate cake! The chocolate cake! Ok ok yeah they have good burgers and dogs too. Haha. This place has the most awesome decor. Straight from Chicago all the way to Tucson. We are so lucky. I love the Chicago style dogs. You can get sweet or hot peppers, ketchup, mustard, onion. The burgers are amazing. Full of that juicy beefy flavor. I love the old school fries. Crinkle cut. The Chicago style beef sandwich is my favorite. I get it dry with the sauce on the side. You can get sweet or hot peppers. Very fresh bread and just the best of flavor like it came right out of the oven. You can also get the beef to go and make it at home!But you must leave with some chocolate cake!

This place is known for the dogs, but I have to shout out the chili cheese fries ($5.19). The fries on their own are first-rate (I got their unique Hot Giardiniera [$0.89] on the side and dipped 'em), but adding the saucy cheese along with that Portillo's chili sends them to another dimension.Now that the initial hype has equalized, there should always be plenty of room inside, and I think as summer wanes, the patio seating will be so pleasent in the evenings.All the service team seem courteous and friendly.

Was out shopping and was craving Portillo's Chopped Chicken salad. To my surprise, Portillo's was sampling items from their catering menu when I arrived. I enjoyed half my salad (saved the other half for lunch the next day), and sample of pasta, Italian beef, meatballs and cake. I never knew they had meatballs! They are only on the catering menu but NEED to be on their regular menu, they are soooo good! The pasta and beef were yummy. I tried the salted Carmel spiced cake. The cake it self was really good but the frosting was a bit too sweet for my taste. Amber and Mark did a great job of serving the samples and answering any questions about catering.

If you have the time, I recommend dine in.Ambiance/Cleanliness-The ambiance is fire, it's got a very well curated selection of decorations that feel like diner 1950's. Really had a good time checking out the decor. Super clean. 4 starsService-The staff member stationed at the front of the house ignored me, leaving me standing there for more than 5 minutes. In house orders are taken at the BACK of the restaurant...having never been here before, I didn't know. Once I got sorted out, it was "ok". 2 starsFood. Got a Big Beef combo, crinkle cut fries and a Coke. The sandwich was delish, char grilled sausage cooked perfectly, great flavor, beef on French bread with peppers, onions and giardenera...jus dip. 12 bucks for the sandwich. Finally went in at 5PM last night..Hot dogs were fantastic.price was very reasonableFriendly service. Very 50s decorated and super clean. Fries were great. So here it is late lunch today.Close by and why not.Foodvto be discovered. A SINGLE BACON CHEESEBURGER did not let me down.It was amazing.The Onion rings also were excellent and again very good food for a very decent cost. This was my first time at a Portillos and I'm blown away! The food is delicious, the staff are friendly, accommodating and very fast! The restaurant is huge, clean, and beautifully decorated. We had the chicken sandwich, veggie dog, and lemon cake and everything was flavorful and tasty. I will have to come back for the famous chocolate cake!

Woah baby! When Portillo's opened in Tucson in February of 2023, I knew they were busy, but I didn't realize what I was missing out on. Upon arriving on a Friday evening, I was surprised to see the exciting restaurant that is brightly themed from wall to wall was nearly empty. My friend and I wanted to try as many things as possible so we split the Italian Beef Sandwich, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Broiled Chicken Sandwich, and Beef and Cheddar Croissant. Our conclusion: go with the beef. The chicken sandwiches were both mediocre but both of the others came loaded with juicy Italian beef that was unbelievably tender and savory. Fries were better than expected too. We'll both be back to order the large Italian Beef that we think will warm us up just right on a chillier day.
