Petfinder.com is full of useful advice for would-be and current pet owners, and is a central place for shelters all over the country to connect adopters with pets in need of homes. It is actually run by Discovery Networks... I think this is a very new development, since their website has improved greatly in recent months!I found my little Mabes and Clovey at a rescue through this site.

I love petfinder and have used it (as well as Hope, ARF, SAHS, FAIR to name a few.) Did I mention I have a bird, two dogs and ten cats? I am lucky enough to have a home, yard and studio that I use for some of my work so that I can have a number of animals. I really am at my limit now, but I secretly would love to help all of the animals of the world - oops, no secret anymore. Petfinder is a great resource for finding an amazing pet. There are so many pets that need homes and so many homes that need pets!

I found my baby Agui through Petfinder. Petfinder got it's start in Tucson, a reason to proudly wave our little Tucson flags.

Because I worked through PetFinder to adopt a pet, I assumed that I was dealing with a foster parent. I now believe that I was dealing with a scam artist. I think this lady's neighbor was relocating and didn't want to take the dog. So scam lady said that she'd take it, and told her family, "watch me get someone to pay me $100 for this mutt". They let me drive 50 miles to meet them, then told me that I wouldn't be able to take the dog home yet (without giving me a reason as to why). I asked them why they didn't text me to tell me that. No valid answer. More importantly, the dog was billed as a Yorkie but looked nothing like the pictures provided. Why is there not a "contact us" tab on the PetFinder website? If they are not vetting these ads, why is there not a disclaimer on their site stating so?

I've applied to have my puppy rescue listed on Petfinder and have not been approved.Sara Kent and Susan Greene of Petfinder Outreach do NOT appreciate my rescue's effort to find puppies homes.Susan Greene and Sara Kent can not give me a definite answer as to why my rescue has not been approved to list on Petfinder. My rescue's policy matches that of THOUSANDS of rescues ALREADY listed on Petfinder. We are no different from the thousands of small rescues ALREADY ON Petfinder.I am sure Susan and Sara are making more money than our family has ever made, and Petfinder employees also literally make a living off of animal adoptions. They are judging our rescue from a personal worldview that is not compatible with the reality of running a rescue.I've contacted the Emily Feslter, the Assistant Communications Manager for Nestle Purina, Petfinder's parent company and was told that Petfinder Outreach is going under investigation. She agreed that they were in the wrong. That was 3 weeks ago, Emily Fesler has not followed through, she has not responded to calls and emails.I am certain that the only factor considered is Petfinder's blatant discrimination against me and Emily Fesler not following through proves it even more.
