It's not my neighborhood park, but it is the park I visit most often. Why I like Palo Verde Park:There is a walking track around the park. There are bird's nesting in the baseball field lights. Maybe this is true of all baseball fields, but I've noticed these. This year it's a pair of ravens, but last year hawks were living there. There are two dog enclosures, one for small dogs. I don't have a dog, but it makes for distracting dog/owner-watching as you walk the track. It is bounded on two sides by an enormous Oleander hedge, and on a third side by an open lot that dips to a wash with a lovely bridge linking it to the neighborhood and further, to a cross-walk on Kolb. Vermilion Flycatchers hang out here, which are pretty entertaining to watch as they catch insects on the fly and return to their perch http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vermilion_FlycatcherIt's a great place for a picnic.

This park has a lot of breathing room, and little personality. Here, you will find designated places for playing soccer, basketball, baseball/softball and for hanging with you pet. They also have tennis courts that, and I'm not even kidding, are so poorly surfaced that it gives the perception that the courts are trying to peel themselves away from the park. There is also a small area for children to climb and slide and play. On our visit, the park was very quiet. Too quiet? There were a few people walking the paved loop. A couple of teenagers were having a grand time, playing basketball and yelling obscenities toward one another. And there were two people just chilling -- alone -- in their vehicles in the parking lot. Strange. I imagine this park gets packed during the spring and the summer when families want to rush out and grill all day, then spend the rest of the later afternoon kicking the ball around and playing board games. The park is perfect for that. For now, in the lull of winter, it is a nice place to spot some quiet time.

Wonderful park to take the dogs. Felt very comfortable letting my dogs run off leash because the park is located in a very low traffic area. The park is very well taken care of. It has open fields, tennis courts, fenced in dog areas and ball fields. There are also plenty of water fountains.Compared to Reid or Himmel, this park has a lot less people which makes it nice.Highly recommend!

This review is specific the dog park located here. Overall, this is an OK dog park. It is mainly gravel, not much grass and water is available for dogs. Here are a couple things that could definitely improve the park.- The trash cans are somewhat inconvenient to put dog waste into. This is mainly because they're push lids and there is poop on them from people pushing them through with whatever they're picking it up with. - There could be a little more seating.- The crowd can be a little seedy sometimes, but overall it is ok.

My husband and I bring our two dogs (Shepherd mix and Corgi) to the off-leash area, and generally have a very nice time. The dog park is separated into two areas, one for small dogs (under 30 lb) and one for bigger. Seems like there are far more people in the small dog area, generally speaking. There are a few picnic tables, but it would be nice to have more, and the poop-bag dispensers are always empty, so bring some baggies with you. The grounds are pea gravel with a few cement walkways, which my dogs are still getting used to. The dog fountains are nice, but my dogs are iffy about drinking from the community tubs so I always bring a dish of my own.On the plus side, the other dog owners I meet there are very nice people, and it's a great opportunity to socialize your dog and get some extra exercise. Reid park is a fair bit nicer, but this one is much closer to my house, so it's good enough for usual Saturdays.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this park! I take my 2 dogs here for the wonderful dog park area they have. it's not full of dirt like the others that get them dirty when they run around. Swimming pool, tennis courts you don't have to pay to use, great softball and baseball leagues. No complaints here. Beautiful as well!

Nice park very family friendly. The pool is itty bitty but perfect for a quick cool dip. We enjoy coming here and our son has soccer practice. Always well maintained and not a lot of loitering.I recommend it if you are in need of just a place to stroll around if you have kiddos. Enjoy!
