I was in just after the restaurant was allowed to reopen. They had not restocked much, not all things were available from their purveyors, and ,frankly, they were unsure what to order. 1 cook, 1 server and the owner. Put down the menu and ask, so what should I order? Told me the items they had and I was in the mode for a New York. I was good The beer was cold. I sat at the bar, had the whole place to myself. The tuned the TV to the channel I wanted. afterward, I went to the outside patio on the west side of the dining room, had a coffee and smoked a cigar. Thanks - I needed an adult lunch.

This place sits on top of a hill overlooking northern Nogales with a really nice view. Place is really cute and clean inside and has a nice formal dinning experience. Nice wine selection and an all you can eat salad bar for $10.00. Usually when you hear all you can eat you think it will probably be The plain old salad bar, it actually had fresh vegetables and a potato salad and coleslaw that was really good.Steak was exceptionally cooked, rice and beans were delicious. It even came with a mini chimichanga that was amazing. The wife ordered 2 shrimp tacos and the shrimp were jumbo size with great spices and they were a meal in its self. This place is amazing and they have a really huge bar area. Even though I don't drink.I will be returning real soon!! Service was great as well.

I am from Tucson and age here visiting one of my offices. This place apparently has newer ownership, but the restaurant has been here for years (so I was told). We arrived for lunch shortly after 11am. The place is clean and is nicely decorated, it had an upscale dining feel to it.We ordered the salad bar, a mochomos appetizer, and I had a steak sandwich as my main course. The salad bar offerings were limited, but they were fresh and flavorful. I had some home made potato salad and cole slaw, along with some of the greens. This was an awesome start to my meal and proved to be a bit much. The appetizer was ridiculous. Deep fried shredded beef, corn tortillas, lime, avocado, guacamole, chips, salsa - OMG. This was fantastic and by the time I was finished with my portion, I was full. The meat was amazing and everything tasted super fresh. The guacamole was just right and not overdone of fancied up.The steak sandwich arrives with a side of fries and I am already full. This thing was delicious too. The bread was a hoagie style that was toasted and buttered, super moist. The steak was piled two slices high and was cooked perfectly. It was seasoned well and was not tough or chewy. They topped it with grilled onions, I was in heaven.Only negatives - the fries had a bit too much salt but I couldnt eat them anyway. The tortilla chips served with the mochomos could have been cooked slightly longer, but these are minor. The prices - a little higher than normal for a typical lunch but because of the quality and service, worth it!5 out of 5

My first time here and it was a Friday night. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is for the Alfredo chicken wings. Otherwise it'd give it 1/2 a star!!! This is so sad for Nogalians to put up with this ridiculous crap starting with the sewer problem they've got going on. I couldn't even pee in peace with that foul sewer odor emitting from who knows where. I spoke to the so called manager "Doris" who said it was not THEIR problem, it's a SEWER PROBLEM!!!Obviously, she DID NOT care when I brought it up to her attention. Their customer service is just as bad, bartender Luis was very rude when I told him about the poor customer service that was rendered. He said it was due to us being in A BORDER TOWN!!! OH HE'LL NO, that should not be an excuse for poor service. PEOPLE don't settle for so so service just because you live in Nogales. You DESERVE better. I'm hoping the owner Mr. Mercado does justice for this place.

This is ABSOLUTELY the WORST restaurant in the whole country! Salad bar came out of cans, calamari was dark brown and clumped together. There is no handicap stall in the restaurant, my $25 steak was smothered in some god awful sauce that tasted like brown liquid salt. The baked potato was literally cut in half and the "fresh vegetables" definitely came out of a freezer bag. The enchiladas were also covered in some atrocious liquid, I've had better enchilada sauce straight from a can. This was supposed to be a nice anniversary dinner for my parents, we should have gone to McDonald's. They actually tried to charge us for a steak I took two bites of. When I sent it back and told the server that everything was TERRIBLE, she shrugged and no sign of management. When my wife complained, they threatened to call the police. I'll do you one better Mr C, I'm going to make it my mission to get you shut down, sued, and hopefully jailed!

This restaurant was recommended by colleagues in Nogales Mexico. I stood at the hostess desk for five minutes w/o any service. I sat myself down at a table hoping for service. I heard the employees in the back. At one point an employee waived and said welcome. I sat for another five minutes and still received no service. Sad to say I got up and left with no communication except 'welcome '.

This place is like a time capsule. A classic steak house that hasn't changed in 50 plus years. Great wood and leather furniture with understated decor... that is admittedly getting a little worn. The menu is nothing exciting, just your basic steakhouse stuff. They have various cuts of beef plus shrimp, scallops, and fish options. The steak is served with a baked potato and the seafood with rice and all dishes come with a side of steamed vegetables. You also get a trip to the salad bar included as well. Most of the entrees were in the $25 to $35 range but with so much food I think that is a good deal.Everything is prepared simply but well. On my most recent visit, the first time I have been there since my teen years, I was pleased to discover a modest wine list is available upon request and they do have a pretty good selection of Mexican beers. The service was courteous and professional, though not as attentive as I would have liked... but in fairness it was a busy night. This place is a Nogales institution, so it is worth a visit if you are in the area and want a nice dinner out. The only other upscale dining options (relatively speaking) would be in Tubac or at the Rio Rico golf resort further north on I-19.

Good steak, good fish, good old school restaurant for groups when you're in Nogales. What started as a group of 8 grew to a group of 20. The staff took it in stride. Sure there were times when it took 15 minutes to get water, but who wants water after a 10 hour day in a factory followed by a 1.5 hour wait to get back across the border? The menu is slightly intimidating, since it's essentially a notebook. The list of appetizers alone takes up 3-4 pages. There are a lot of steak and seafood dishes. I opted for the trout, though pretty much everyone else got some kind of steak. Every entree came with a trip to the salad bar. The salad bar was nothing special - chopped romaine, canned chickpeas, sunflower seeds, canned beats, processed salad dressings in beige plastic containers with beige plastic ladles. While we ate our salads, we could see the chefs in the kitchen, which when you consider how old the building seems, is something that not a lot of places had at the time. The chefs were really working it. And they even rang the bell when the orders were up. The staff did a decent job of getting the food out when it was still hot and to all the right people. The trout was a little more done than I would have liked, but the flavor was still good. Everyone raved about his or her steak, but then added that it was a little too salty. And even though the prices seemed a little high on the menu, the whole thing was very affordable at the end of the night. It's a solid Nogales favorite, and one I'm sure that we'll be back to in the future, based on all the smiling faces when we left.

First upon entering the restaurant, we stood at the hostess stand for about 10 minutes, there was nobody around. We then went into the bar thinking that we would be attended faster. We noticed there was only one employee taking care of the whole restaurant. This was the most horrible service I have ever received at a restaurant. Totally unprofessional for a plate that cost $35 dollars. It took more than 10 minutes just to get a drink. The calamari was dry and it looks and tasted like it was fried in old oil, they gave us the driest lemons I have ever seen. There were so many things wrong, there was no paper in the restroom, the waiter did not have a mask on, and we had to send our food back 3 times.Wouldn't recommend.
