So happy to find a park my daughter enjoys!!! We have been around Tucson trying to find a nice park with shade and this place has lots of shade covering a large and very fun structure! There are lots of climbing options which is great for gross motor development. Over all a perfect play spots for kids!!!

We've taken to walking in the park on weekends in lieu of walking downtown these days, and McDonald Park is pretty perfect for it. It has a nicely paved path, and when the path is busy with people (yes, we are taking distancing seriously), there are some unpaved trails that connect around the perimeter too that we can duck out on to. The paved trail is very well kept, and on our last visit, we noticed that the park employees actually go so far as to blow dust, dirt, and debris off of it periodically too. The entire loop is about 0.75 miles, so we do a few laps, and it's a peaceful experience. The dog parks (there are two) here are pretty cool, too. They get lots of use, and they seem to be very clean. We've never seen anything but dogs having fun!McDonald park also has LOTS of baseball diamonds and grassy areas, which is awesome because we enjoy tossing the softball around. We go at off hours, so we never run into organized games, so there's always plenty of space for us to play. We also use the basketball court often, which is paved nice and smoothly, and the net definitely has been replaced when needed. There are lights on the court, too, so play during dusk is possible. The park also features a playground that is almost always being used when we're walking around or playing ball. I'm not sure on its upkeep, but the rest of the park is clean all the time, so I'd say it's probably fine too.Something that some people may not notice, but I do, is that there are lots of garbage cans throughout the park, even a bunch on the walking trail loop. No excuse to litter and muck up our beautiful natural spaces! This is a really great park with a lot of amenities (even bathrooms). It is well taken care of. The verandas and picnic table areas, as well as the parking lots, very rarely have any trash around. And the trash cans are mostly empty. Everything seems to be in working order, and if it's not, it is by our next visit. The staff here does a really great job!

My friend and I took his kids here to play and his kids enjoyed the park. The play area is kid safe with plenty of wood chip cushioning around all the play equipment. The bigger kid slides still have a lot of life left, but some of the toddler plastic equipment are sun faded but are still in good shape. There is plenty of benches for parents to sit around the play area, and a few covered picnic tables. Car parking will not be a problem. Restrooms are available, but I suggest to bring wet-ones as kids track dirt on sinks and toilets. Go and enjoy this park and it's scenery of the mountains as a back drop. .

Lovely lil dog park!Well kept and had plenty of places with doggie bag dispensers. The small dog area was small...like really small. I let my Butters run with the big dogs and she had a blast! Spent about two hours there on a Sat and only witnessed one minor dog fight! Not bad. Responsible owners and friendly pups =)+ They have plastic chairs everywhere for your convenience- Was there in the beginning of January and my Yorkie was full of those pesky lil burrs. Took an hour to get em all out so beware if you have a breed with long hair

I'm writing this review for the kids' part of the park. For additional feedback, you could probably just scan the dog park reviews and disregard any references to dog poopy bags, and you'd pretty much have a description of the kids' park. The park is kept very clean and there is a large variety of equipment that is age appropriate. There is some sun protection on some of the big kid equipment, but the little kid equipment is pretty much direct sunlight. There are a few covered picnic tables for snacks and meals - super handy! * Please note that the playground is not fenced in so if you have a runner(s), you may be dodging after him/her as the dog park is very attractive for the little ones!

Most of the parents, grandparents and caregivers that bring their kiddos to McDonald Park playground genuinely seem like they love their little gremlins, and are willing to help corral with those of us who are outnumbered and outgunned by our offspring. The covered playground is litter-free...not a hypodermic needle in sight.A picturesque, mostly shaded, paved trail runs the perimeter. Young walkers can handle it.It's also kind of nice to have toilets that flush, especially when there are two little monkeys crowding around me while I do my business.Negatives? It would be nice if they had a splash pad. Immediately offset by the fact that there are no winos bathing in the splash pad.

Nice park for little kids that is tucked in the NE foothills. We have taken our son here for many years. Play areas are nice and well maintained. Dog park as well in the corner of the park.

Saturday at 530 am is reserved for the two ladies who can't control their 4 greyhounds. These dogs attacked my puppy and these two ladies could not manage their dogs. I guess I should have known, since at least one of them was wearing a muzzle. Granted, my puppy is 50 lbs, but the wayward greyhounds incited a riot and my husband had to pick our dog up to get her out of there. The other patrons if the dog park thankfully stepped in to try to control the greyhounds. Do not bring your dog here if the greyhounds are already in the park. I think it would have been ok but for this incident. The grounds are kept nicely and we just hung out in the small dog side.

Really nice small quaint park hidden away. There is a nice shaded play ground for kids, and some trails and walking paths. The restrooms are decent and there is plenty of parking. There is a dog park also, which is really nice. However the people who go to the dog park are a bit snooty-- if they think your dog is "aggressive" they'll just leave and you'll be there by yourself. It's their way of letting you know you're not welcome. Personally that's a pretty stuck up way of behaving in my opinion. But now you know if you show up with your dog and everyone else leaves, they don't want you there.I saw some guys do this to a woman a few days ago. Her dog was barking and apparently this was considered "aggressive"-- so they all got up and left her there alone. What a juvenile way of behaving! But the good news is then you get the dog park all to yourself!! While everyone else leaves and takes their dogs with them because they don't want you there! Ironically your dogs get to play as much as they want if you're the one getting ostracized!!But if your dog is extremely well behaved you'll be fine here-- you'll be welcome-- as decided by the other judgmental snooty dog owners.Besides the snootiness in the dog park area, the park itself is nice!
