Sad to say i did not like it. Except for the crust/breading that was delicious. I had 3 pastizzi. Split pea & curry. Corned beef & peas. And another i don't remember the 3rd. He threw in a complimentary one that wrapped a hot dog I did not like. I also ordered 2 dessert minitzzi. One blueberry and one nutella cream. The desserts were lacking in filling. There was a dab of filling and nothing more. But again the crust/breading was good. Then you get there and they tell you unless you want to buy a frozen dozen you must wait for an order of 3 and 2 desserts to be cooked. And the wait is 20 minutes. They do have a nice clean bathroom. I will not come back.

Got a bag of the variety pack and my oh my, so tasty. The pack has 3 of each: ricotta cheese, split pea and curry, SW, and tal pizzeli. Stick the frozen goodied in the oven for 30 minutes and all done.I ordered online and picked up at a beer place near my house. Joe the owner is super friendly. He offers some real tasty treats.

Coming from a family of Maltese immigrants, I grew up with Pastizzi. My parents passed away more than 15 years ago and had not had Maltese cuisine since then. When I heard of Malta Joe and his pastizzi, I had to find his bakery! Coming from Danville, Virginia, to Tucson, Arizona was over 1,700 miles. A pilgrimage of a sort! Well worthwhile, Joe was awesome, social, kind, and excellent at his craft. His pastizzi were just like my mother's. I highly recommend without hesitancy his bakery!

Seriously. Ever since the kind owner gave my husband and I free samples a few weeks ago , I've been CRAVING THEM!!!!!! Wow. Light, delicious, full of flavor and cooked perfectly! His pastry is flaky and golden brown. The concept of Malta Joe's is brilliant! The pastizzi's are easy to eat! You can literally feast on them while socializing or walking your dog. We each ate two and immediately wanted more. He offers 4 different flavors, all amazing! I am so excited this food truck has opened in Tucson! And we are really looking forward to buying more! Please support this food truck! You will thank me

Absolutely delicious! Malta Joe makes the best pastizzi my husband has had outside of Malta! And my husband knows his pastizzi. He's Maltese so he's had a lot of pastizzi over his lifetime. In fact, we recently visited Malta where we had the pleasure of eating pastizzi from lots of different places. (Our favorite was Crystal Palace). We were in Malta for about two weeks and I kid you not, my husband had pastizzi every single day, sometimes multiple times a day. Once we were back in the states, he kept craving pastizzi. He told me that growing up in Detroit, his aunt would make delicious pastizzi before she passed away. He said there were lots of places to get pastizzi in Detroit where you could buy them frozen and bake them at home and he wished we had that out here in Arizona. So I went online to see if I could find any local places that make pastizzi. That's where I came across some great reviews for Malta Joe's Baked Goods, so I thought I'd give him a try. I ordered two dozen pastizzi yesterday and picked them up today. As soon I returned home, my husband asked me to put several in the oven right away so that he could try them. He wasn't going to get his hopes high though because he said that the frozen ones he used to make in Detroit never tasted as good as the ones that were fresh from the bakery. But once I pulled these out of the oven, he took one bite and was really impressed! The crust was light and flaky, the flavors were rich and savory. He was genuinely delighted. Yay! I'm so glad we found Malta Joe's. I have a feeling I will be ordering from him on a regular basis!

These little pastizzis are the perfect bar snack! While hanging out at the Hop Shop a couple weeks ago I was able to try this food truck for the first time. Joe was walking around handing out menus and recognized my friend and immediately brought over a couple to try. They are a nice size and delicious bite to have while sipping beer and hanging out and Joe is so sweet! I tried the chorizo and bean pastizzi which is just that wrapped in a nice flaky pastry dough, yum! I'm so happy they are becoming a regular spot at THS.

Had to try the pastizzis and wanted to see if it tasted like the ones I had in Mdina. It was close enough. I only tried the ricotta one but the dough reminds me of sfogliatella. Will try the savory ones when I see the food truck.

I had the opportunity to sample Malta Joe's Pastizzis when I was last at Dragoon Brewing Company. They have a food truck to offer up their delicious Maltese eats on the go! Like a lot of people I had no idea what a Pastizzi was when I saddled up to the Malta Joe's food truck. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I had a Southwest Pastizzi. Filo dough wraps around a filling of bacon, hatch chilies and ricotta cheese for a full on flavor explosion. I also sampled the split pea and curry and it was also just a perfect balance of savory filling to crispy and delicious filo dough. I was so impressed that I looked them up and am happy to say you can purchase these at their store to bake at home!

Malta Joe is the best place to eat in Tucson. Joe himself is marvellous too. He is the heir of a great culinary tradition formed at the crossroads of the cultures of Sicily and North Africa, an unknown treasure of the world's panorama of traditions. The pastizzi, the flagship item, are of course divine - savory pastry is always forgotten here. Yet even beyond... the gooey timpana, the signature Maltese baked lasagna and sold at streetside shops all over the nation? The ftira, the national sourdough bread of Malta, stuffed with tuna, tomato and olives or even just with the Gozitan gbejna, small goat cheese cakes riddled with cracked peppercorn and aged in the caves of Ghawdex, Malta's smaller northern island? The bigilla, the broad bean paste, the Maltese alternative to hummus, seasoned with marjoram or mint? The qahaq, amazing pastries full of slits to let their figgy guts spill out? Many larger metropolitan areas have no Maltese culinary reputation, but Tucson does to its enormous fortune. be sure to support such a great venture and try something new. you can catch Malta Joe at Rillito Park on Sunday mornings as well as in his bakery.

Their food truck doesn't actually make anything fresh. 5 of us ordered a sampler. We would've ordered so much more if it was good. You need to be suspicious of food that's ready immediately. What we got was old and dehydrated. I'm sure it was really good if it was freshly made, like food trucks are supposed to do. I would never spend another Penny there. Fancy truck, garbage food, they expect you to pay high end prices for. I'm at the beer house right now, and all the food is coming out as they order it. Too bad you haven't figured out if the food is fresh they'll order more. Most people will only order from you ONCE
