Your review helps others learn about great local businesses.. With new owners this place is 100% better. New sheets, new towels , clean rooms and free wi-fi and cable. And the price is great!

This motel is not your run of the mill establishment. From the outside it falsely appears to be "motel anywhere USA". However that is not the case. You can tell much love has gone into the remodeling of this property. Steve, one of the owners has taken great pains in selecting excellent pieces of furniture and accessories for each room. They are very inviting, relaxing and bot at your normal motel room. You feel like you're staying at a upscale hotel. The property offers you an outside seating area, small porch areas in front of the rooms and a pool to cool off in. My only suggestion, add a ceiling fan in the room to move the cool air from the air conditioner. It seems the air conditioner might not be large enough to cool the entire room. Orther than that, this motel is a solid 10! When in Tucson seek out La Siesta, you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find! He is planning to open a coffee shop soon. Enjoy your stay!

This is a fun, kitschy hotel for people who can accept an offbeat place and don't need to be at the Hilton. If you need a standard hotel room - don't stay here. If you like something off the beaten path and something with character - this is the place for you.The owners are extremely nice - she gave me her half and half so I'd have cream for my coffee in the morning. They have a great dog, too.The rooms are small casitas with full kitchens and a parking spot. Very cute! The complaints are - no hot water - major problem. In summer, I doubt this come up very often, but we happened to stay during a cold snap in December - it does get cold in Tucson, but not this cold and not that often. Having hot water is pretty essential and there just wasn't any. They did their best ti fix the problem, but they clearly need a new water heater - my recommendation is to get a water heater for each room or each two rooms, something like that, rather than the single one they have for the whole place now.The other complaint is also one that likely only comes up occasionally - the heater is an old 50's style wall heater - VERY difficult to control the temperature and we had to get up several times each night to change the level. It was either hell-hot or freezing cold. However, the room was nice and the people were extremely accommodating. A little more carpeting in the bedroom would be nice, maybe (it's tiled). We enjoyed our stay there and would stay again. Prices were very reasonable and the location is pretty central. I would recommend it - but I would recommend it very highly if they fixed the water and heat issues.

Pulling into the parking lot, I was already nervous about staying there. The grounds are disgusting, the pool was empty and nasty looking, the parking spots are way too tight, the staff was VERY rude, our room was very poorly cleaned (if at all), and it looks NOTHING like the pictures. I was hoping for a fun stay for cheap prices. All I got was the cheap prices. I did give it two stars because I liked that we had our own kitchen and a back door leading to a nice little smoking area outside. When we got there, we had to stand outside the entrance in a dangerous part of town and ring the doorbell. We had to wait for the softspoken woman who worked at the front to peek through her tiny peek-window in the door. When she spoke, I could barely hear her for two reasons. One, she was about as loud as a church mouse. And two, there was a train that went by pretty much the whole time blowing it's horn.So we got checked in. I was expecting a key card like every other motel. NOPE. She handed me a straight out KEY. Ok, I was fine with that. I thought it was different and interesting. We pull into out parking spot next to our room and I ended up smacking the door on the side of the wall because there is NO room under the carport. On top of the very little room, there was a BIG ac unit sticking out into the carport right where the car door opened. Not very easy for maneuvering. We finally got into our motel room. The bed was made. There was a tv in an entertainment center, a (very) stained chair, a small trashcan with no bag, and a rickety desk with squeaky drawers. We weren't expecting much for the prices. We continued to check out our room and discovered there was a decent sized bathroom, but it had no vent fan and one window big enough for anyone to crawl through (and the window had no bars or even screens). There were NO towels in the bathroom and half a tp roll left of the roller with no extras. I figured I'd ask for towels in the morning. No biggie. We continued our tour and discovered a nice sized kitchen. No complaints about that except the outdated accessories. Again, we couldn't expect too much for the price. We were surprised it even had a kitchen! We opened a door and discovered it took us out onto a shared back patio with overgrown dead grass and weeds, and an infestation of kissing bugs. (ew).Four AM rolled around, and we got woken up by our car alarm going off and someone running away from our car. Real awesome. We pull back the covers on our bed to find a condom wrapper. LOVELY. We pulled the covers back up and just layed on top of them. The next morning, I went to the office and had to wait for the lady to peek out the window. She refused to open the door at all, and when I asked if they supplied towels, all she said was "no!" and slammed the window in my face. I walked back to my room and was about to make a run to the store for some towels when my husband called into the office and complained, when she decided to hand deliver some towels for us and apologized for the inconvenience. Our friend, who was also renting a room there, was standing out back with us during one of our smoke breaks. The lady who worked there was out in the storage unit and decided to walk over and question us as to what we were doing. I'm sorry, if you didn't want us to stand outside and smoke out back, don't give us a non smoking room with a patio. As we were gathering up our things for check out, I was talking to my husband and our friend, and as I was complaining to them about the service, the (I'm assuming) owner came out of the room next to us and yelled at me that I need to quiet down (at ten in the morning.) I'll quiet down when the place is under better management.Needless to say, I was VERY dissatisfied, and the only reason for me to ever check into that motel again is if I start smoking crack and need a place to get high. Or if the place is under all new management and maybe hires some cleaning ladies who actually know what they are doing.

Wow that was bad! I thought we'd stay in a cool old motel but, this was anything but. First we couldn't find the place because the sign in front was either not turned on or it wasn't working. After checking in we went to the casita and we walked past several sketchy looking people who apparently live there. The key wouldn't work and I had to go to the office to get someone to let us in. Once inside it was clear that this would be a rough time. The room smelled bad. It was dirty, the tv didn't work and the air conditioner was overwhelmed by the size of the casita. There were no towels so another trip to the office. I was told the towels were still in the dryer. When they came they were thin and scratchy. When we pulled back the comforter the sheets were dirty and blood stained. Needless to say we left immediately! I dropped the key in the drop box and we peeled out of there. We got a room at the Best Western up the street. There are other cool old motels nearby but La Siesta is not one of them. Steer clear of this place! The other reviews of this place are are good but, they are old. This may have been a decent motel once but it's a dump now. Don't be fooled by the staged photos.
