La Paloma Academy

My son has been going to LPA for 5 years now. I give this school a 1 star because the majority of his teachers have been absolutely phonemnal and helped my son evolve into the young brilliant child he is today.  However the leadership at this school from principal ewald is absolutely HORRIBLE which is why it does NOT have 5 stars. Principal ewald will ALWAYS point the finger and play the blame game on everyone else except for who really needs to accept responsibility for the actions that were taken place.  He talks down to the parents with his huge ego and is very combative which is unprofessional.  His inability to effectively communicate/confront parents makes him a poor principal. I have no respect for him because of how he handles school issues but I do like the majority of the teachers at the school.  So since he isn't teaching my child I'll continue to keep my son at this school but be aware of this horrible leadership.UPDATE (8.3.18): I removed my son from this school after finding out the school was having the students pick up bloody bandaids/broken glass/and other trash around the outside campus during the after school program. They were teaching the kids it was everyone's responsibility to clean the community & didnt give them the proper tools to protect themselves or acknowledge the parents. The school is being cheap & trying to cut corners when this is something the janitor should be doing. This is child labor! No one at school could give us a clear answer & refused to pick up the phone after hanging up on us. This is one of the SEVERAL issues your child will encounter if you decide to enroll them at LPA. Also ask them about the "red circle game" where the PE teacher is allowed to throw footballs, basketballs, & soccerballs at the children as they walk around the basketball court & they have to catch it or be injured & NOT allowed to throw it back at the PE teacher. The PE teacher calls this game an evasion sport. More like target practice for him. They switched out the balls with rubber balls when the authorities showed up. This is one of the many dishonest actions that will never settle right with me with how this school handles issues to cover up mistakes. So for your childs safety do NOT enroll them to this school.

Horrible!!! thats all i can say for this school!! no communication with the teacher to the patents! called several times to have teachers call back, n not once did they return calls!! bad for iep students no help at all!! all bull crap!!!!

I used to go to that school and I loved it as a kid I loved it up until this year they just they changed principles and the principal now just does not care about the children safety if there eating or not I tried to talk with her about one of her students letting me know that she's not able to eat in the lunch line without her ID And all she kept telling me was I have to do crossing guard duty I said I get that so you're not worried about your students not eating and the only response I got was I have to do crossing guard duty worst principal I have ever met do not recommend the school to anybody after that it's not OK in any circumstances you should be more worried about your children you know Health than crossing guard duty and you have three other people out there helping you set up for crossing guard

This is one of the worse schools in Tucson, they provide no extra help for a child who struggles with their grades!!!! They let teachers bully students and do absolutely nothing about it. They have very RACIEST Teacher that works there !!!! Also if your Child GPA isn't above a 2.5 they are excluded from everything including the 8th grade trip nothing like singling a child out' After begging for extra help for 2 years and they still haven't provided it" Seriously consider placing you children somewhere else, maybe a school who actually cares about the child and gets the help they need. This school is completely useless along with some of the teachers!!!!!

after school program is the worst they are mean to the kids. they have lots of new staff morning and after school that don't care since Mr Ewald left this school I don't recommend I know a few parents that have taken there kids to other schools

Amazing school, I put all 3 of my children through this school and am so thankful for the foundation they have.
