We originally had a failed mission to this restaurant because we underestimated how busy they would be at dinner time. We were told it would be a two hour wait and it just wasn't reasonable for our hangry selves and our toddler. I was bummed but we planned ahead to go the following week at 4pm this time and anticipated a long wait. When we got there at 4pm on a Saturday it was around 1 hour and 15 minute wait which we were happy with! We made the mistake of trusting the waitlist app and went all the way to target down the street to kill some time. We decided to head back when it said 4 parties ahead of us but in reality as soon as we pulled up I received a message saying our table was ready. I think they only hold the table for 5 minutes after they text so don't be like us and stay closer to the restaurant for sure! Now the important part:Service 10/10From the gentlemen in charge of the waitlist to the server who took care of us, everyone we came in contact with in this restaurant was so kind and professional. I was a server for a long time and I could tell that everyone in the restaurant was well trained! All of the food came out perfect temperature and nothing was forgotten. We were checked on frequently and the tables were cleaned throughout our meal. Food 10/10I was lowkey hoping I wouldn't like the food as much as I knew I would so that I wouldn't have to endure the long wait times again... but that's not the case. I'm already planning my next trip. Every dish that we tried was bursting with flavor. My husband and I had to pause after every bite just to let our brains catch up to our tastebuds. My favorites ended up being the Elote appetizer and the pastor tacos. The grilled pineapples on the tacos were chefs kiss!Everything else that we ordered was really good but those two will definitely be on our repeat list! I would highly recommend coming here but just keep in mind that their dinner waitlist gets crazy!

I took my friend here for birthday lunch. Yes, no reservations made. The young man who greeted us was pretty green. May I say if you enter my home, I will always welcome you warmly. He treated us like, What no reservations? Then when we were going to sit at the bar we couldn't sit " in the Splash zone". Not a warm welcome from the bar people or the host. Almost considered leaving if I didn't live on the other end of town. My friend lived maybe 2 mile's away. Who saved the day? Our waitress, was warm, friendly, helpful and the food was amazing. The staff looked great, resturants was beautiful and the food great. Only hiccup...not being greeted by anyone when you walk in. A wink, a raised hand or a nod goes a long way when you are too busy to speak.

Another Incredible Meal at La Frida! We loved this place so much that we came back for a second day in a row--and once again, everything was absolutely amazing! We started with the Costilla de Elote, and it was just as delicious as we hoped--perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. For our main dishes, we had the Carnitas Tacos, Kahlo Enchiladas, Fridachilis, and the Battered Fish Tacos, plus a Kids' Quesadilla for our little one. Every bite was fantastic, from the crispy, flavorful fish tacos to the rich, well-balanced enchiladas. The carnitas were tender and full of flavor, and the Fridachilis brought a fun, unique twist.I had the El Venado cocktail to start--smooth, bold, and perfectly crafted--then treated myself to a Piña Colada for dessert, which was the perfect sweet and creamy ending to the meal.La Frida continues to impress with its outstanding food, creative drinks, and warm atmosphere. If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out! We'll definitely be back again.

To celebrate the birthday of one of my besties, I introduced her to La Frida Mexican Grill and Seafood. I haven't been for a couple months and they have expanded with more parking, a necessity. They are so busy that people line up to wait for a table and so good that people do wait. I suggested to the birthday girl that we meet at 11:30; good thing we did because we nabbed the last table! We snacked on the chips and spicy queso while we perused the menu. Everything sounded so good. We finally settled on sharing Las Magdalenas, chicken enchiladas in mole, and Camaron Volcan, battered shrimp and rice in sauce. The first taste of the mole produced sounds of ecstasy, which we tried to control, lol. Everything was so good. Spicy and tender, flavorful, and perfect. We did need a to-go box but then came the complimentary birthday dessert. I don't know what it was called but there was ice cream, cinnamony crumble, and two crunchy chips, and it was served on a wooden platter with birthday wishes from La Frida carved into it. What a special touch! A fruity effervescent beverage accompanied was included. Service was perfect. We actually had three people attending to our needs. All three were sweet and helpful. This was a lovely birthday experience at La Frida.

Edit to add (2/16/25): Came back to try the lunch menu and was absolutely amazing! The prickly pear lemonade was soooooo good and sweet! Tacos and Flautas were delicious as well. Very flavorful food, amazing experience. Even met the Owner, very sweet lady! Food not only tastes good....it's plated beautifully! Another 10 out of 10! Definitely recommend! First time here with my girlfriend, it was such an amazing experience. Our waiter was "Gilbert" and he was absolutely amazing and explained what each dish was that we were deciding between as well, checked on us multiple times and had a smile along with everyone else that worked there. Everyone who worked there even said thank you for coming and I've never had that happen. Very beautiful inside as well. The food was very impressive and plated beautifully and also tasted amazing! We will definitely be coming back to try the lunch menu soon. 10 out of 10! That elote appetizer? Uhhhhhmazing!

Oh my goodness!! We were in Tucson for a little roadtrip and looking for some epic cuisine. We tried a little bit of everything! I had one of the mocktails, and although I can't recall the name, it was beautiful and delicious! I was delighted by the addition of the bobas. Three of us shared the chicharron steak, shrimp ceviche and Khalo Enchiladas! The chicharron steak was my favorite with flavorful crispy steak over guacamole. Next the enchiladas were light and fluffy with a sauce that you'll want to drink with a straw. Finally, the shrimp ceviche was delish and beautifully garnished with a whole shrimp... It probably wasn't judging us with those beady eyes while we ate. The service was great! Our orders came out promptly and everyone was busy but attentive. The restaurant was packed, but quiet enough to have a conversation. I look forward to visiting again real soon.

First visit to La Frida was beyond expectations! Greeted by friendly staff and lovely decor was only the beginning. Maribel, our server, was outstanding!!! When she learned it was our first visit, she brought us samples of all the sauces they use and explained which dishes they are used in. The food is not only delicious but visual works of art!As it was my husband's birthday, Maribel surprised us with an amazing birthday dessert and a lovely birthday song. Maribel was very attentive and gracious. We will MOST DEFINITELY be returning guests on our visits to Tucson.

The food-flavorful and tasty, but luke warm. Service was slow and our server wouldn't make eye contact with our table so we could get service. We had to ask another server to add drinks. One of our group ordered a margarita. It was $11. Our friend ordered a better tequila so they charged us:1: for the margarita with their house tequila cost ($11)2: an up charge fee of $4 for changing tequila (makes sense. It should have been done there but....)3: an $15 for a shot of a better tequila (so we got charged 2ce for house tequila and better tequila!)The entire cost for 1 margarita was $30. The server couldn't explain why so the manager tried (unsuccessfully) to explain. We couldn't get anywhere (logically) with him. Bottom line: good food, nice ambiance, but they lost 4 customers.
