Always closed, does not follow through with store hours. I finally caught a woman there working, moving placement stuff at front of store. She took one look at us and said she was closed. I had my young daughter of 8 yrs old, and I felt that she discriminated against us because we weren't all adults. She was rude and then went inside and locked the door. Save your money and take it to Copper Country instead.

I kept forgetting about this place, and finally stopped in to look around after work one day. It's fantastic! I picked up a darling bonnet for one of my en-route-nieces, and some horseshoes for general good luck, and a bar of soap that smelled great. My one nitpick is that one basket of soaps was marked NO ANIMAL TESTING NO ANIMAL PRODUCTS... but the soaps were individually labeled as goat milk soaps. I know that much of the world doesn't care about things like that, but I'm vegan, and I DO care, and would have expected better labeling practices from a store that emphasizes animal welfare as a goal.I did like that I got a discount for having rescue kitties of my own!Overall, an awesome, reasonably priced, way cool little store, and one I'll return to over and over, especially for household items and gifts.

I LOVE this shop. I can feel the great energy and a sense of discovery as I wander the shop. Sadly the hours that they are open are very limited because it's run by volunteers who also rescue animals for Tucson CARES. If there is a rescue, they often have to leave the store. Clearly, animal welfare comes first. The shop is really eclectic and the rescue group that operates it crams a lot of merchandise into the space. Kismet has reasonably priced items from vintage clothing and accessories to natural products. They have pet items, housewares, antiques, collectibles, metalwork, fantastic jewelry, handmade items by local artists and kitsch. Some of the rescue cats visit the shop and will try to befriend you by "paw fishing" for attention. I recently learned that Tucson CARES operates a booth at the Midtown Mercantile in the 4000 block of Speedway so I went there last Saturday. The booth seems to stock the same selection of merchandise at good prices. I think it's Booth 207 in one corner of the second building. One of the volunteers told me that they also hold a "flealess market" in the Kismet parking lot several times a year and offer rock-bottom prices and vegan treats. I've found quite a few quirky gifts at Kismet but I especially like that I'm helping rescued animals. I always write a note with the gift to let the recipient know that their gift also helped pets.
