Kindermusik at Musical Steps

My 2.5 yes told daughter and I really enjoyed our time at Kindermusik with Mary. Every class was so much fun and very engaging. The kids get introduced to instruments and music beats - as well as fun games.Hope to return in the future :)

My son (now 7-years old) absolutely LOVES Kindermusik with Music Mary; in fact I'm not sure what we'll do without it since he's now preparing for his final session on the recorder. Not only has Kindermusik provided him with a social outlet, via music, but it has also motivated and prepared him for formal piano lessons. Through dances, musical stories, hands-on time with instruments, music fundamentals (ex. reading notes, experiencing rhythm), and organizational skill practice, Music Mary takes it to the top with her teaching elegance and pure kindness. As an ex-elementary teacher, I admire her teaching philosophy that encompasses a hands-on approach that is FUN. The atmosphere is always very positive and happy, and each session has a unique theme, which the children LOVE.The baby/toddler/pre-k classes are AMAZING to say the least. To watch a 1-year old pick up a mallet and begin playing basic rhythm patterns on a drum is simply beautiful. This program is a great music supplement for homeschooling, as well. Each class comes with a CD and an instrument/sensory toy, which is an essential part of the experience. My son and I listen to the songs in the car, and whenever Music Mary starts a new song in class, his face lightens up because he knows it. It really helps build his self-confidence, and it makes this mom extremely happy! Enjoy!~

I was extremely disappointed in Mary's reaction to my decision to not continue the Kindermusik class with my son. I told her it was too far for me and I would reconsider maybe for the next session. She would not respect my answer and continued to try and convince me to keep coming. It made her sound desperate and unprofessional, and made me feel uncomfortable and cornered. I think the trial class should be just that, and you should not feel obligated if you feel like it's not a good fit. I also don't feel like they should give you a starter kit (which costs money) before you really have time to decide to come back. She gave me one as I said, yes, I think I'd return. After my son came home from the 30 minute drive over-stimulated and tired and re-thinking the class, I decided it wasn't the best fit. Now she's demanding that I bring back a ($35?!) starter kit which consists of 2 little rattles, a book, and some papers. (I'm not sure how that comes to $35). Anyhow, I'm very disappointed. I probably would have come back in a few months but I do not believe the way she goes about pressuring new people to join the class is good business.

Our family started taking Kindermusik classes when we lived in China. When we moved back to the states, we were looking for a program here in Tucson and found Mary. She has taught, not only my two children, but I have also learned a lot from Mary as well. We love attending classes each week and always listen to the Kindermusik Cd's in the car everywhere we go. Both of my children have been taught by Mary and Jodi. My children love to play and act out the songs at home. My son is very shy in class, but as soon as we get into the car to head home he's singing all the songs he has been learning in class. Mary and Jodi are both very patient, supportive, organized, fun, energetic, and ready to teach the kids! We drive 30 minutes one way each week for classes. My daughter will begin the second semester of the Young Child class with Mary and continue learning notes, melody, rhythm, and practicing the glockenspiel. My son just finished the Fall semester in the 18m-3 year old class learning about songs teaching about baking cookies, making toast and cleaning the house!We highly recommend this program with Mary & Jodi!

My 3yo daughter Aubrey, who is now in school, had been going to Kindermusik with Music Mary since she was an infant. She loved every session singing and dancing and learning how to play different instruments. From about 15 months old she has been able to memorize and sing almost any song with the right pitches and rhythm and I know it's because of how Mary teaches and engages the children with pitch and melody and enthusiasm. Aubrey is lucky enough to have Mary as her music teacher at school once a week! She adores her and looks forward to Mary's arrival every week. We would definitely recommend Kindermusik to our friends. Aubrey loves anything musical and I know Mary and Kindermusik plays a big part in that.
