KG's Westside Cafe

Great service, amazing breakfast menu in a classic diner setting. Whats not to like? Been there over a dozen times and they never disappoint.

Omg. This place is the bomb of diners-a must go to!! Whether you're in the mood for pancakes or posole, a breakfast burrito or chicken fried steak-you have come to the right place. It's on the Westside right off interstate tucked away in a little strip mall. I'm salivating just thinking about their posole, which they only serve on Saturdays & Sundays. They also make white and red menudo on the weekends. I've had their chicken fried steak as well - also top notch, along with their perfectly cooked home fries and biscuits. You really can't go wrong with anything on their menu. Breakfast burritos come with a side of the best frijoles in town. My friend raves about their corned beef hash. Love the wait staff and love the atmosphere. Just be prepared to wait, like all good diners.

It's been forever since I've been here, maybe a decade? On the west side of Tucson, we have lacked culinary options, but KG has been a fixture. Perhaps that is the strongest statement about KG - a stable fixture. Serivice is nice, comfortable, and familiar. The food is also comfortable, without surprises; no fancy pretentious names.My friend did mention that we were the youngest by far. That is another positive, I suppose. If you are feeling old and tired, visit here to be reaffirmed that age is just a number and that there are many people older than you. They are living alive, and they might even start an introduction by saying "when I was your age..." So, here is to KG and many patrons who have many more decades of breakfast left.

The hiking disciples held our power breakfast conference at this establishment. The coffee's were full and the french toast was on point.I consumed enough carbs to catapult me in the work week! Thanks for showing us some Westside love. We were able to discuss the logistics for our next summit! KG's for the win.

Two things stood out about this place, weak coffee and weak service. My partner and I sat for at least 8 minutes before anyone welcomed us or took our order. To be fair this place is a "seat yourself" kind of place but I know they saw us because I had made eye contact with at least 2 waitresses. Just when we were about to get up and leave, a waitress finally came over to serve us. As far as the food goes it was just ok not worth the $32 bill for just eggs, bacon, hash browns and a biscuit w/gravy. My partners hash browns were burnt and my biscuit and gravy was just plain tasting with no sausage bits. I think they just use the same gravy they put on the chicken fried steak. Also, I couldn't help but overhear the waitress tell a Hispanic customer "of course this is your plate" as she served her chorizo and eggs as if her white companion didn't eat chorizo too.I kept waiting on a refill on my weak coffee in hopes the next batch was not as watered down but they never came back around to serve us. Not coming back here not due to the food so much but the hospitality was mediocre for not being that busy. Giving two stars only because the food was edible but just not outstanding for the price paid.

Service was good the place was clean and busy. Food was ok nothing special it wasn't bad but there was nothing that stuck out. The portions were also ok I definitely feel like I didn't get my moneys worth and that's the reason for the 3 stars. It was expensive for just me without tip was $18.37! For chorizo and eggs with a soda.

Good basic breakfast and lunch foods served here but if you want a touch of the chef's gourmet options, those are available on the whiteboard. This is another mom and pop place but that's what makes them soooo good! The service is excellent and fast but you don't feel like the staff wants to rush you out of the place. Easy casual dining.

I was in the area yesterday and decided to give KG's a try. Being close to their 2:00 pm closing time, I ordered a relleno burger as a safe choice. The portion was generous including the fries and the garnish. The service was good and the ambiance acceptable. Overall I would rate them as earning 3 1/2 stars. If in the area again I would return but I would not search them out. I should add that they appear popular.

From the looks of this place, and their name, you would not think they have delicious mexican breakfasts, but they do!Honestly, I took some people from out of town here and also to mosaic cafe while visiting, and they prefered the huevos rancheros here!

Neighborhood go-to cafe with solid/traditional homestyle breakfast-lunch offerings. Terrific staff. Can't begin to count the number of times we have been here.
