Johnny Gibson's Downtown Market

PRO: Nice deli options! CONS: Extremely overpriced on every single item!! Even for a local (non-corporate) store, the prices are off the chart!!! MISSED: It is a shame that Johnny Gibson's has NOT reopened the outdoor and/or upstairs seating!!!!! It is needed when downtown and you want something from the deli as a quick + healthy choice. SERVICE: Other than the main manager, no other employee cares that you are in-store. AMBIANCE: Originally, probably nice and something (theme-based) different for downtown. However, it is too crowded in today's time. Two separate customers cannot even cross paths between the stainless steel, rack shelves. CONFUSED: Per Johnny Gibson's own website dated 2022, they reference opening an "event center" in the back. It is now Aug. 2024; nothing in the courtyard to my knowledge.

A fun local market downtown. The deli here sells an array of comfort foods that's sure to satisfy your inner cravings. Also a great selection of cakes and cookies to complete your lunch/dinner. Staff was very friendly. Was looking for some local Tucson gifts and there were some items but wished there was a bit more selection of local goods to choose from. Definitely take the time to check it out!

Guess their deli closes in the middle of the day? As I was looking at the screens to see what sandwich to order they stepped in front of me and shut off the screens saying nothing. Still shop here because it's the only thing around.

During the pandemic I bought a gift card and I decided to finally use it. I was very surprised how small the store is, it packs a lot of stuff into it. The isles are incredibly narrow, I am of average weight and I maybe had a half a foot on each side in the aisle. The produce didn't seem very fresh, so I skipped over that. I did enjoy some of the weirder, nontraditional grocery store items like squid jerky. However, I am vegan and I struggle to find vegan items within all of the options. If you think snow, parking is very tricky. Unless you live downtown and you plan on walking, be prepared to do a little bit of walking in order to get to the store. The store also had alcohol, and toiletries. What the store is known for is their deli, which I did not partake in. I hear their sandwiches are amazing but I didn't see any vegan options.

Excellent service! Used them for catering and I feel like they did an exceptional job! The food was great! The portions were awesome, everyone was happy and excited. Thank you! I'm looking forward to using you guys again !

Just went there once so far . The food I ordered from the counter was great and it was handed to me with a smile. I thought the store was very nicely decorated and arranged . It looks modern and clean. I can't wait to go back as I work nearby. I will be frequently weekly since it is very convenient.

Great market near downtown hotels and convention center. Small produce section, basics and extensive specialty/gourmet selection. Perfect for snacks if you're at a hotel nearby. Service deli/prepared foods looked decent too.

Alright working downtown and had to grab a quick lunch. Found this place and what a gem. Lots of choices in the deli case and some seriously good sandwich and burger choices. This was a super tasty burger enjoyed on the street (because I had to). Bacon egg cheese and of course the burger. All made this fabulous. Truly a juicy run down your hand style. Only kind of burger to have. The fries were perfectly crispy, difficult to do with sweet potato fries. As good as this was I'll be back to try some of the other items on the menu when I can.

Two days ago Drug Enforcement Agents and members of the Tucson Police Department were conducting a drug investigation on an outbound Am Trak Train, traveling from California to Louisiana, stopping in Tucson.Two subjects on the train were suspected of carrying a large amount of drugs. As Agents and officers entered the train one of the suspects attempted to hide the drugs. Several minutes later one of the suspects pulled a gun and began firing.One DEA Agent was killed, a second shot, along with two Tucson Police Officers. One suspect was killed and the other arrested.This was a horrific and tragic scene for the law enforcement community in Tucson. A massive crime scene was established and officers went to Market and obtained a large amount of water, beverages and food items for the investigating detectives and officers securing the scene. The police Union asked if the employees could keep a tab and that they would return the next day to settle the debt.Today, the union representative returned to settle the tab and the owners refused to accept the money. They extended their sympathy to the fallen officers and their families and all law enforcement officers.Job well done! Thank You!

My first time ordering today. I got the hot Green Chile Chicken sandwich and it was very disappointing. It was more bread than meat. The other half was less chicken than this. The chicken was definitely frozen. And because of that I honestly couldn't eat this half because it was so difficult to bite through Saving grace was flavors were good and the sweet potato fries were pleasant as well. It's unfortunate the meat was practically inedible and so little amount of it. The place seems really nice but I would encourage everybody to not buy this sandwich.
