Great time at the gem show! My mom comes down for it every year and I joined her for the first time this summer. I was nervous because of the pandemic but was happy to see they were taking precautions - temperature checks at the entrance, masks required, sanitizer everywhere. With that said, if you are high risk it's probably not a good idea because the workers and the shoppers who don't take the pandemic seriously come REALLY close to you (I mean, hopefully the masks are enough?). I got several cool pieces, like a beautiful ring, a wooden bison that was hand carved, and the bronze skull I added a photo of. They have a wide selection of fine and costume jewelry, individual beads and gems for those who want to make their own, and art pieces. The skull piece was from The Good Medicine Shop vendor, and they had a ton of unique jewelry and art pieces. The prices can range from $20 rings to items going for a few thousand. You won't see anything suuuuuper expensive though, I'd say more mid range. If you love jewelry and finding unique pieces, this is a great spot for you.

I think this is a great place for jewelry buyers at a semi precious price point. You won't find many diamonds or high end gems here worth mention. I found a lot of items over priced. For the individual buyer it's more of a place to browse and maybe chat with vendors. I did find some notable mentions. I found some silver jewelry fromBali but pricing was high, and a vast selection of turquoise. For myself little luck in find black diamonds, sapphires emeralds or garnets. For first timers you do have to register of you're a guest or buyer or seller. All of course involve fees.

At the end of January, leaking into February, the largest gem, rock and mineral show in the world opens in Tucson. It takes over the entire city, and very much like a gathering of gypsies it turns this high desert town into an amazing display of every of stone imaginable (and quite a few you never thought of). For rock hounds this is the pilgrimage you yearn to make at least once in your life. For those of us with businesses in gems and jewelry, it is nearly a "must go" if you want to see what is being taken out of the ground around the planet, and what very creative people are doing with them. I have been on both ends of this experience, both buying and selling what I believed others would find attractive and workable. My focus has been colored gems and stones (aquamarine, peridot, spinel, tourmaline, topaz, varieties of agate), while offering pieces that I found on buying trips to Mexico and Asia, both natural and antique. It is a wonderful high to surround myself with these beauties of nature for a week, and allow their glow to filter into the mindspace where new ideas generate. And, when not exploring the multitude of temporary shops set up in motels, or campgrounds around town, Tucson itself offers excellent diversions via great restaurants, parks, and hotels. At first I went alone and rushed back after a few days, but seeing how extremely overwhelming the show was I began bringing my family to make a vacation of it. It has become the place we most enjoy hanging out, especially when the winter drears on and on.

The Gem show is always something to look forward to. Everything is so unique and beautiful. There is always so much to see and it's so different every year. I've heard rumors that they talk about skipping Tucson every year, but i'm so glad they always come.

I have attended this show for several years as a general public attendee. The general public must buy tickets to attend and each year ticket prices have increased. Once you arrive you are given a name badge to wear which shows the vendors that you are simply a member of the general public. This show is intended for those in the jewelry business, absolutely NOT intended for general public attendees. There are areas of the venue that general public cannot even enter. If a general public member wants to buy anything the price is generally full on retail price, if not more. I was very disappointed in how we were treated at some of the vendors. Some would not even help us to see items or even acknowledge that we were standing there. They are focused on commercial customers only. So maybe JOGS should just prohibit general public members all together and stop selling tickets to us. Go to some other Tucson venue for jewelry, because as a paying general public member, you are not welcome here. I won't return and will seek out the many other locations that welcome the general public.

I have been attending the JOGS Tucson Gem & Jewelry Show for several years now as they provide many raw materials that are important to my small business. I look forward to the show and enjoy attending them every year. I have made friends with several wonderful vendors but some of these vendors deserve recognition for their advice and the depth of their knowledge about their wares. I especially want to give a shout out to two wonderfully helpful vendors...Vasilij Art Design from Poland and Jason & Mona from Starborn Creations. In spite of being so busy with so many customers, both took the time to explain the properties of their products and gemstones to the betterment of my knowledge and the improvement of my fledgling business. Excellent materiel and outstanding service!
