I've had regular acupuncture since the early 1990s, in a variety of cities in a variety of states. With the exception of some guy I later learned was a quack with no real training, Jade Star is the worst clinic I've ever had the misfortune to visit. After moving to Tucson, I needed to find an acupuncturist here, and the great reviews on Yelp made me think Jade Star might be a good fit. I made the mistake of purchasing a package of appointments before I realized how inferior the care at Jade Star was, and since I was unwilling to write off the money I spent on the package, I got to see, over the course of 12 appointments (three each with four different acupuncturists), that Jade Star provides stingy, inferior care. Here's the tl;dr: practitioners at Jade Star tend to behave like so many doctors in western medicine. They value their own expertise so highly that they are unwilling to listen to the expertise a patient has about her own body. You might find their approach adequate if you have never had acupuncture anywhere else, but if you've gotten used to being listened to by practitioners in other clinics, you can see that this place in inadequate. For starters, I disliked that not one of the four practitioners I saw stepped out of the room at the beginning of session, to give the patient a few moments of privacy to disrobe as necessary and get settled on the table. This is standard practice elsewhere.I disliked that Jade Star practitioners do not come back to check on you after they insert the needles, but instead just leave you on the table for 40 minutes. Yes, they provide you with a call button. But it is standard practice at every other clinic where I ever received care to come in half way through a treatment, see how the patient is doing, and then adjust the treatment in some way--perhaps adding more needles, or twirling the needles that are already in, actions that can be completed in five minutes or less. I asked one practitioner to do this, and she said she didn't think she could. I was so flabbergasted that she felt obligated to go ahead and do as I asked, but she made clear that she resented it. For what Jade Star charges, they should not be so stingy with their care. Two of the practitioners I saw made a big deal of telling me how they knew this or that about me "intuitively." I just rolled my eyes. It's not that I don't believe in intuition. I just wondered why their intuition didn't help them see significant problems in the care they provided. For instance, one of them walked into the appointment, slapped down a ponytail holder down on the table, and commanded me to put my hair in a ponytail so she could put needles in my ears. I said, "All my other acupuncturists have managed to put needled in my ears without making me put my hair up."She said, "Well, then you'll have to make completely sure that your hair is behind your ears." I said I could do that. The third acupuncturist I saw did not ask me a single question about my overall health or my experience with acupuncture until the end of my third appointment with her. She would ask me what brought me in that specific day, insert a few needles, and leave. At any other clinic, I would have said something about it, but I'd learned that Jade Star does not accept feedback about what they're doing wrong.I asked all four acupuncturists I saw if they would do for me something more than a dozen acupuncturists have been willing to do for me, which is insert needles in spots that I feel could use them. One refused, two were reluctant. Only the last acupuncturist I saw was OK with the idea. I liked that acupuncturist, and if she'd been at a different clinic, I would have been happy to continue working with her. But the policies of Jade Star meant that the care she was able to provide was inferior. It took me a while, but I found a much better acupuncturist in Tucson--and they're a lot cheaper than Jade Star too.

After suffering from chronic knee and shoulder pain I decided to try out acupuncture and I am hooked! The technician made sure I was at ease since it was my first time having acupuncture and it eased my pain on a short term basis so it's recommend to have several sessions. I'm not a fan of needles so as long as I close my eyes during the procedure, I did well. A couple of pin pricks here and there, no bruising and I felt immediate relief. The session lasts an hour and it's recommended to have a full stomach prior to your appointment. The best part is veterans are fully covered for 12 sessions as long as they received an approved referral from your respective VA. The only downside is the referral sessions are only valid for 60 days, so depending if you need additional sessions after the 60 days to contact your primary care provider at the VA to request another referral. Other than that, there's ample parking. The place is wheelchair accessible, just park on the back for easy access. Highly recommend especially if you're looking for a holistic way to pain management.

Jade Star is amazing from the moment you walk in the door. The admin staff are totally on it and super sweet.Need a massage from a truly gifted therapist? Please stop wasting time and money elsewhere, book with Ken NOW! He is very thorough and knows EXACTLY what he's doing. He has decades of experience from which my husband and I completely benefitted. Honestly, I'll be going back regularly for "maintenance". If you are open to acupuncture (which you should be!!!) book Danube NOW! She's highly educated and naturally intuitive in her field! I'm pretty shocked at how much her treatment has helped me recover from a fall I took last year, my RLS and MS. It's mind blowing!

I have been coming to this place for a few years now. It's quite the drive for me but it's worth it. I have a couple favorite people I see. Danube. She radiates knowledge, kindness and compassion. She is very knowledgeable and in tune with her practice so that she can give you the best results out of her sessions. She really is the best. My other favorite is Carole. For me I call her God's gift to man. She always knows what my body needs when I'm getting work done. I suffer from chronic pain and she does her best to help me. I don't know much about chakras and eastern medicine and I know this sounds weird but for some reason Carole's energy color she radiates to me is green and I feel like she's Mother Nature embodied as one. She is amazing and I find myself so lucky to have found her. Both these ladies are the best. Just wanted to give my honest review of this place and how grateful I am for them. Now hopefully I didn't shoot my self in the foot and these ladies get booked for weeks on end.

I had used acupuncture before and found it helpful to me. Even though Jade Acupuncture is not close to where I live, I thought they would be a good fit for me. It's a nice facility with friendly people at the desk. I am on Medicare and was told that they didn't accept it but I could pay $5 for an invoice that I could submit to my insurance (which does cover acupuncture). I had three sessions with the same person and it was pretty good. The first session was an intake session with a lot of questions about my health. After three sessions, I decided to submit an invoice to my insurance to see how it would work. I left a message for billing and they called me back but I wasn't available. I tried again but got no answer. Then I called the receptionist and asked her to take my credit card info so that the billing person could charge the fee and could then send me an invoice. She said she couldn't but that she would have billing call me back the next morning. No one called me the whole next day.I called and asked to speak to the manager and was told that person was not available but would - yes - call me back. And again, no one called me.So between the distance and this hassle just for a bill, I won't be going back.

Amazing service and acupuncture that really works. Lily has the most amazing skill set I have ever experienced with acupuncture. She is also a great listener to understand what your medical issues are and the best way to treat you. She was able to significantly reduce and even stop most of the pain in my feet from neuropathy and injuries. I now have full sensation in both legs and feet where it was a cluster of tingles or numb from neuropathy. I have been able to cancel a pain management surgery on my right foot, surgery that would have put me out of commission 3 to 5 months for recovery. Lily's skills in acupuncture have been a total life game changer for me. I am back to living life fully like I did in my 40's at the young age of 65. This has been by far the most rewarding medical change in my life. Jade Star Acupuncture also accepts VA referrals. To my fellow Vets, make a good solid decision for a better life and med free pain management. Lily, I cannot thank you enough. They also have a great massage therapist, Christine, who told me about the acupuncture. So glad I made the decision to go forward with Jade Star Acupuncture. Retired MSgt USAF

The five star reviews are spot on!! I've been coming here for over 3 years. Alissa is one of the best massage therapists I know. She is trained in several modalities but it's the MLD (manual lymphatic drainage) that brought me here. She is booked far in advance cuz she is that good and has multiple repeat clients. Danube in another hidden gem too! Her understanding shines in what she recommends for your personalized treatment - acupuncture plus Cranio, Cupping, Energy Movers, Flower Essences, Light therapy. You name it... she knows it!!
