Park would be okay it is plenty big but that is the only good thing. Water does not work so bring your own. Their are sticker's in the grass all over the place. It took us 3 hours to groom them out of our dogs. And there are holes everywhere from dogs digging. Also no dog bags so make sure to bring your own.

We passed through here on our route from California to Texas - would not recommend. There was so much debris and trash all over, we couldn't let our pup off leash as we knew she'd try to eat the various cigarette butts, plastic ware, weeds, food wrappers - you name it. Disappointing...

We've been to this place about 5 times now, all in the morning. By "we" of course I mean myself and my 44 lb. rott/lab mix. The previous reviews cover the minimalist aspect of this park pretty solidly. Let it also be known that there are two sections on each end (more or less) that are pretty heavily littered with burrs (thorns, prickers, whatever you call them). This only proves an inconvenience (and minor at that) when pups wander over into those areas and end up with a flat tire, needing immediate burr removal assistance. It happens.Among the regulars here, I'm in my 20s, and I am an anomaly. I would put the average age of the human park visitors in the early 60s. That being said - they aren't the best at walking across the park to clean up after their dogs. Poop patrol is - at least in my limited experience here - very limited. Still, I would not call this park any dirtier (or cleaner) than any other park we've ever been to. Molly is absolutely correct, these are definitely the type of people who wear shirts with their dog's picture on it. Actually that might have happened...The people do all seem to know each other for the most part, but what's better is that they really seem to know and understand their own dog's temperament So far, it seems to be a collection of responsible, caring dog owners, who foster a comfortable, fun environment for all the dogs (and that, truly, is the take away). Of course it's the closest park to my house, but I feel very lucky in that regard.

This park has potential but it's full of goat heads and stickers. Also the inner gate doesn't latch. It just isn't well maintained. Probably won't come back.

I really like Jacobs Dog Park and since discovering it, I have barely made my way back to Reid Park. Jacobs is a dirtier, smaller, more eclectic version of Reid Park. There is some nice shade and picnic tables, but it is not picturesque by any stretch of the imagination. It is terribly hard to find, you actually have to go back in the neighborhoods behind the park to find the entrance. BUT... It's a good community, the dogs and people all know one another, it is the same people every day, and I believe the owners here are very responsible. Let's just say they are the type of people who wear shirts with their dog's picture on it. But hey, those are my kind of people.

Too bad you can't give a dog park negative stars. I would disagree with Jes about the owners. Took my dog for the first time today and the regulars sat at the table, under the tree while their dogs aggressively chased my 50 lb dog for a good 5 minutes. Very non involved, unwilling to monitor their dogs. Eventually one owner walked over but was unable to control her dog. She said "It's a dog park, they bark." I replied "Barking is one thing, aggressively circling my dog and chasing him from one side to another while barking is a different sorry." Leashed up my dog to leave and the old guy yells across the park, "Get out of here, we don't need your kind." At which point I said, "Oh, you mean you mean respectful and polite with well behaved dogs?" Seriously dude? "We don't need your kind?" And when I say "non involved," the oh so classy regulars seem to think its beneath them to scoop their poop. What a fiasco. Sending emails to Parks and Rec today after voicing concern to a park worker who said those regulars are there every morning and are always that unwelcoming.
