Menus are outdated, many of the items on the menu are not available. Service is slow, took a while to get sushi rolls. I truly wanted to like it but unfortunately the food didn't make up for the slow service.

Special thanks to owner and sushi chef Jea-souk! We experience being entertained and enjoying conversations with the chef. He made sure to offer us fresh options of fish for my chirashi bowl.The crab and cucumber salad was refreshing amd enjoying some lychee sake with our meal was everything we needed. I had such a memorable time learning how much time ans investment our sushi chef and owner dedicated towards making Izumi restaurant it is today. Definitely pretty good. I went with some friends on a weeknight and we were the only people there. Everything was clean and the environment had a lot of potential. A few TVs showed basketball games and the bar set up was conducive to a lot more people that would have brought a little bit more life to the restaurant. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful from the time we got there until we left. The food was tasty, but left a little bit to be desired. The sushi rolls were not very full, but the variety gives the customer lots of options to try new things. The udon was a tad one note, but a good amount of food. It's a safe option if you want a lot of pretty good noodles. My friend loved the chicken Katsu and it was even more food. Overall, an above average Asian restaurant with lots of satisfactory options for those who like sushi and those who are a little bit less adventurous.

We ordered a meal that was over $200.(Being in the food industry for 20 years, I do know quality. Also, a family that orders over $200, you would THINK is going to be prepared with care)I have never been so incredibly disappointed in my food, until tonight!The "teriyaki" chicken was boiled, unsalted/bland no season whatsoever. SO CHEWY, it's not edible!The teriyaki was in a plastic container on the side. So you had to pour your sauce OVER the bland chicken. (I know this is not how teriyaki dishes are prepared)The "orange" chicken: could have been tasty but had 0 And I mean zero orange sauce on or included in our dish.Our family also ordered some sushi. After being so disappointed with my ordered meals (I ordered 2 chicken teriyakis.one for me one for my toddler twins- I didn't even want to feed it to them)I tried a few of the sushi items. When I got to the raw sushi- it was SO fishy. I couldn't eat it. (Making me and the family concerned to continue to eat the sushi, too) I'm extremely disappointed in the meal we had. This was our FIRST experience with this establishment. . After this experience, we won't be dining with them again. (I should add that we did not dine in. We ordered through Uber eats. I had almost given up on finding good, fresh, healthy Japanese food in Tucson but luckily a friend persuaded me to try Izumi on Speedway. The place is roomy and comfortable. Everything about it was first rate! My cocktail was inexpensive and very nice, the agedashi tofu appetizer was crisp on the outside, light and tasty and the edemame was lovely and fresh, the vegetarian roll was perfectly-made and delicious. Moreover, the waitstaff were friendly, charming, and solicitous! They actually seem to care about their customers! Top notch!

My friend worked at this restaurant and I have never seen nastier violations of healthcode. Regularly food is set on the ground and contaminated. on multiple occasions raw meat was set on top of ready to eat food (if you can call it that).
