I recently had the pleasure of checking out Humo, a new Mexican restaurant in northwest Tucson, and I was impressed! It's a cozy spot with a cute bar, a vibrant mural, and a spacious patio that would be perfect for a nice evening out. They had only been open for about a week when we visited, but the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The menu is still evolving, with plans to expand to include more options and breakfast dishes. I tried the quesabirria tacos, and they were delicious. The handmade horchata was the perfect complement, refreshing and sweet. The refried beans had a unique smoky flavor, which ties perfectly into the name of the restaurant, Humo (which means "smoke" in Spanish). They also have some great specials! Taco Tuesdays are a must-try with $1.99 tacos, and happy hour runs Monday to Friday from 2-5 p.m., offering half-off their classic margaritas. Plus, they have a full bar, so there's plenty to choose from if you're in the mood for something else. The prices were reasonable, and they even have a drive-thru for those on the go. Bonus points for the fact that the chef is the same talented mind behind Amelia's Kitchen, and he's a 2025 James Beard semifinalist - a true testament to the quality you can expect here.I'm really excited to have a new Mexican food spot in Northwest Tucson. If you're in the area, definitely give Humo a try - it's a great addition to the local food scene!
