For me, the most passionate book-lover I know, a small well-chosen selection trumps a warehouse ANYtime. Add a knowledgeable owner you can trust to turn you on to books you otherwise might not have considered and ... well ... you've struck gold. That's why I almost always schedule a foray to Green Valley Books when I visit my Mom in Green Valley. The store is nook-tiny and mostly crammed with used books. But my personal sweet spot is a corner of handpicked classics and new releases. I am not exaggerating when I say I could spend HOURS in this section alone. Mom picks out most birthday Christmas presents on the advice of the owner. A recent pick -- "Mudbound" -- stays in my mind. There is always a selection of bargain books out front and the store does justice to kids books and local authors. All in all, a keeper.

In my September 2018 visit to Green Valley Books, I was pleasantly surprised by their collection of local history books. Doris was very knowledgeable and made some helpful recommendations, and offered to find other books I might be looking for. They have some great collections there on a variety of topics, including hard cover versions, and I'd especially refer any local history buffs. Prices are most reasonable for almost-new books, and they offer trade-in credits for your own gently used tomes or soft cover.
