Serving Thanksgivings Feast on the street on this beautiful morning. This is my families annual event. Anyone wanting a warm lunch will be served and they can pickup a nice pair of shoes or toiletries. There is a line before it starts and everyone is given a plate of food until 2pm. All the staff and volunteers are very nice.

This is a better alternative than the slinky night culture. The staff are well groomed personally and the visiting preachers are emotionally uplifting with no brainwash science involved. Clean cloths everyday comes with the building like good food, a loving staff and good comradary clients.

Gospel rescue mission first of all leads people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. They also provide food and shelter, medical and dental care and job training. They are not perfect, but they provide help where needed and hope for the needy.

Having a place to regroup when faced with a negative life event is a very good thing, however some of the staff are incredibly rude & condescending, and the food is not only horrendous, but downright dangerous. Several people have gotten food poisoning repeatedly including myself. An obvious lack of culinary experience, as well as safe food handling practices are glaringly apparent. So to summarize, with the abhorrent demeanors of some employees (you must unswervingly obey any directives reasonable or otherwise or they are quick to threaten you with being thrown out... and there are no grievance procedures when a guest is mistreated here either) I would suggest only going here as an ABSOLUTE last resort.

While this is the best shelter, I do have conflict of interest & my intentions are in the hopes this becomes a better environment to find balance within. While I like the basic plan of the workforce class, it lacks a great deal in many areas. Many of us come from homes, where balance of a loving environment & desire & are seeking balance. It doesn't teach how best to do applications & resumes: they expect everyone to know the ropes already. While we are hard & work, trying to do what it needed to acquire a job, the teacher is often found in & out of class & the balance needed isn't found & when the variables in the in & outs of the class shift, we become used to a teacher who is absent quiet a bit of time & I find myself forgetting to ask for passes as a result. I imagine it may throw others off do to an inconsistent schedule. They have a drug & addiction program which is ideal @ two locations. And while it covers trauma & abusive issues, one must be addicted to drugs or alcohol in order to take these classes. What does this tell the person who chooses not to be addicted to drugs or alcohol? It tells them in order to be a part of there program, that you must have an addiction in order to get help. While not everyone is patted on the back & encouraged to do better, there is a good ol boys club, that shuts others out. From the perspective of an empathetic person whose experienced these things. My only hope is that this business becomes a better place who desires to meet the needs of the people.
