This was a nice hike on the southeast side! Lots of loose rocks so ankles beware! There were bikers and looked like there had been horses recently. The only negative was there were no trash cans to dispose after the hike. The portapotties were pristine and the trail was well maintained. We came on a Sunday morning and the trail was pretty empty. It's dog friendly too! Just make sure to clean up after them

Great hike! If you head towards the water, there is Lot of shade, too! Cool to see the train go across overhead

I've been hiking in Tucson for years and just recently discovered this trail. Quite far east of the city, the trail offers solitude and openness that other more popular trails just can't provide. Within the Cienega Creek Preserve, this is a short relatively flat trail where you can do it all, hike, bike, run and bring your pets and family of (mostly) all ages/abilities. From my understanding, you can use the trail without a permit, but need a permit to venture further. There are posted signs and gates where necessary. There is one Ramada and picnic table at the trailhead. Also, they do now have port-a-potties in the parking lot, one of which is handicap accessible, but strangely no trash receptacle so pack out what you bring in.

Nice trails, good signage. Not as picturesque as some of the trails I've been in on Tucson but still very nice. Good views of the trains and railroad tracks. Most of the trails seem to be for beginners to intermediate hikers and walkers. Didn't seem to be too steep or difficult. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area!

Great place to hike, walk your dog, bicycle or ride your horse. Gabe zimmerman was a wonderful young man and this is a fitting memorial to his spirit. It needs vault toilet and water !

Named in honor of a victim of the shooting in Tucson from January, 2011, Gabe Zimmerman was a hiker who would be proud this trail exists. It connects with the famed Arizona Trail. Park your car here but remember there are no facilities (no outhouse) and enjoy the trail. Bring a horse if you have one for the equestrian ride. I like to go down to the creek area where there is running water, and admire the bridges and see a train go by. It's peaceful, beautiful, and has great hiking for all levels of hiker.
