As a veteran library-lover and used book hound, finding this was an absolute joy. The selection here rivals some for-profit book stores, and the prices cannot be beat! The books are categorized for ease of browsing, and the shelves are as tidy as any B&N store. Some volunteers were very helpful. Plan to spend at least an hour browsing.

The daughter has rediscovered her love of Harry Potter and wants to own all 7 books. So today we hit the open to the public sale. Huge success. She got 3 of the books, plus 3 of the movies - one was still in wrapper! She got around 10 other books as well. Total price? Only $9.50 thanks to it being half off day.We only looked at kid books and dvds, but we passed huge sections devoted to romance, fiction, history, travel, cooking, and more. Pick a genre and they have it.Highly recommend bringing your own bags, and lots of them. They do have little carts you can use to haul your purchases to the car. Next book sale is veterans weekend 2019. Enjoy!

If you love books, you NEED to be going to the monthly-ish sales held by the Friends of the Pima County Library! The prices are outrageously great, even without the discounts they offer on different days for members, seniors, and fill-a-bag days during their "sales." Soooo many books in this relatively large space! And not all crusty old books that you've never heard of, either. There's plenty of popular titles, as well as some obscure stuff. They have a variety of genres, including a generous children's and teens section. They even have a selection of verrrrrrry old books. I've picked up some late 1800's books that I'm fascinated with, that were actually in decent condition! And again, for great prices. There's also a side room called "Best Friends" that has more popular novels in older vintages. It's a bit more expensive depending on the rarity of the book, but I've found some goodies in there that are currently on my collectibles shelf! The place can get packed on the weekends, and it's an awesome sight to see so many book lovers! However, it's hot in there during the summer, and even worse with so many people around. During this past sale, I was luckily available to shop on Friday, and it was much more peaceful. Walking around wasn't nearly as bad as on a Saturday or Sunday, when it's basically impossible to be alone in any given aisle. So, go on Friday if you can! Mondays might be good, too.Go there and stock up on books! Endless entertainment!

How can I have lived in this town for almost 10 years and have only found this book sale in the last few months??? Here's the way this incredible monthly book sale works...the sale takes place the second weekend of every month. On Friday and Saturday, the prices are "the usual" (which means most books are under a few bucks- young adult books are 50cents for paperback and $1 for hardback. On Sunday, the prices are 50% off (that's right- now those YA books are 25 cents and 50 cents!) and then...wait for it... on Mondays, you get everything you can fit into their canvas bag for $10 (hardbacks, soft backs, cookbooks you name it!). Throughout the day the books are all continuously re-shelved so there is always something new! They have a rich children's section too! Tell your friends! Tell your neighbors! Also- they do collect donations as well so if you have a few books hanging around- bring them on down!

I went to the community sale at the book barn on $10 bag day. What. Yes. Everything you can fit in a nicely sized canvas bag for TEN DOLLARS. I made out with a beautiful cookbook, 11 hardcovers, and 7 paperbacks. Two of those were thick Franzens and another a gorgeous copy of Moby Dick -- you could easily walk out with 25 paperbacks for $10. What a deal!(You can either opt to use one of their plastic bags for free, or purchase a canvas bag for $1. I suggest getting the canvas bag and bringing it back time & time again! They are sturdy & can easily hold heavy books.)I second Lauren's comment about quality, too. Most of the books are in very good shape (i.e., look barely used/read). Great selection, too. Many of my picks were on the bestseller list within the past 5 years. There is clearly marked overflow parking around the corner which meant I had no problem finding a spot, despite the sale. The parking lot made me a little apprehensive about the crowd inside, but everyone was so dispersed throughout the store and courteous & mindful of others that I didn't have any issues browsing where I wanted to at my own pace. Highly recommend! It feels so good to shop local, get great deals on books I can't wait to give and read, and know that my $$ is supporting public library services and programs.p.s. Check their website for sale hours--I think they're typically 9-3, not 9-12 like Yelp lists.

I used to shop at Bookman's all the time. Then, I discovered this little gem. They have sales once every 4-6 weeks, so they aren't open often. Oh, but when they are.....it's magic! If you are a bibliophile, this is your mecca, your stonehenge, your great chimichanga in the sky!Happy reading; and Stay thirst, for knowledge, my friends.

If heaven has a bookstore, this is it.Friends of the Library has a booksale at Country Club/Grant every so often and sell off donations and old library books and DVDs at amazingly low prices. This is absolutely the place to go for titles. And you won't be alone: it's packed. I've never seen it when it wasn't packed. It's swarming with people. And for good reason,. because if you like books and DVDs, you will find titles. Go ahead and fight the horde of people and look. Subjects will make it easy to find titles. Prices are up front and cheap. They give you bags to carry. There are special days where you can fill up a papersack for $5. And other kinds of sales, including if you join as a member and get to go in without the general public.I am blown away by the good stuff here. It's a chance to load up on every kind of book, from auto repair guides to scary novels. Teens, childrens, romance, you name it. Go early in the sale and get the best titles. Amazing sales. And the proceeds benefit much of the library and its programs.

Not friendly "Friends" in the least! This listing needs to be clarified that while they may be "open" for donations, this is not a traditional retail establishment and as such, probably shouldn't be sponsored on Yelp. Seriously, if you are a visitor to the area such as myself as type "records" they are literally the first result. With that, today I walked in to an open door, said "hi" to a few semi responsive folks busily working with some books at desks. I found where records were located, and began looking through a few. A woman moved a box over my head and literally gave me a "heads up" to which we laughed about, as I was crouched below her.A few minutes later, a woman brusquely approached me to ask what my name was and where I was from. Responding to her, she told me I "couldn't be here" and that they're not open, except for volunteers. No signage out front stated as such, or else I wouldn't have walked in as I did, as I'm not a jerk.Realizing I literally had nothing to do for the next hour until the posted noon closing, I absolutely volunteered literally right then and there, stating verbatim that I'd be glad to work and help out. I was told "well there's a bit more to it, I'm sorry if it's disappointing. There will be a sale this weekend which you are welcome to attend." I won't be in town for that, and if I were I'd be hesitant to attend knowing such rude individuals may be present. I'm a bookish introvert myself, but let's please work on our people skills too not be so harsh to someone who attempts to right a perceived "wrong" that they were not aware they were committing.

Excellent selection of books, quick to communicate and very friendly. I purchased a book online and contacted them to see if they would sent the book as soon as possible since my son's classes required it and he was starting soon. They sent the book out the same day I bought it and I received it the following afternoon. They were quick to respond that they would place it in the mail immediately. Excellent customer service.
