I have not used the community center facility, but this is my favorite public pool in Tucson! It is serene and beautiful, surrounded by a natural/undeveloped desert park area with cacti, mesquite, and views of A Mountain and Tumamoc Hill. The pool itself is nothing fancy and could use a paint job but overall clean and simple. There is a diving board, waterslide (in summer) and adjacent shallow baby pool. Sadly, it closes sometime in early November until early April.Outside the pool there are several benches and picnic tables with grills and a nice playground, plus a big covered basketball court which is even lit up at night and seems popular with kids and grown-ups alike. Great community resource!

I grew up in this neighborhood and came up to the local neighborhood center all the time. I have many great memories of this place. Great staff, great programs and activities, met a lot of friends, went on some great field trips. I even continued to play basketball on their outdoor courts as I got much older. The facility provides a place for the youth to go during the summer and also after school during the school year. They have an indoor facility with different game rooms and areas to do different activities. I'm not sure if it's still there but I remember learning to play pool there. Speaking of pool, they also have an outdoor pool where you can free swim, swim laps, and jump off the diving board. There are trained life guards on staff and I believe they provide swim lessons.

there is no shade around this pool. The life guards we're not allowed to remove their T-shirts because one of the board members has such strict moral standards , that she does not want them to show their arms. They will not allow them to have small fans to cool themselves. It was 106° when I went swimming. Whomever that board member is does not belong on the board. You do not let your personal values affect the safety of your employees.
