One of Tucson's better art galleries, with an emphasis on photography. It's in a nice space in an old downtown barrio. It isn't very big, so it gets crowded during openings; the old space was a lot roomier.

I came to Etherton Gallery from PHX for the Jay Dussard exhibit in 06/2022. The gallery highlighted Jay although photographs of other legends such as Ansel Adams and Steve McCury were on display. Arriving a couple hours before the exhibit began, it was pleasure talking photography with Jay who in my opinion, belongs on the Mt Rushmore of photography. It was super cool discussing the stories behind some of his photographs. Most photographs shown were western themed, although I absolutely love his black and white landscapes. The event began in at 7. As we arrived, fashionably late at 730, a couple hundred people were already inside floating around the gallery and outside listening to the Dusty Ramblers (who were electric). The gallery was beautiful and the night was a ton of fun. I plan on coming again soon.

Oh my!!! The new space is incredible and much more light than I expected. Caught the Yoga show right before it came down. I loved the old space but out with the old and in with more history in Convent.

On a recent visit to Tucson my husband's father brought us to the Etherton Gallery to browse. What a wonderful space! I can't believe nobody has Yelped it yet. Located above a restaurant in downtown Tucson, Etherton is a large loft space. Most of the art is in one main room, but there are a few smaller rooms that house photography prints and Native-American art. On our visit there were several different artists showing contemporary drawings and paintings. Something for everyone I'd imagine. A quick visit to their website shows that exhibits tend to stay up for around four months. I'm excited to see what new things they have up the next time I'm in Tucson. Oh, and a note. Sometimes I feel awkward going into galleries knowing full-well I have barely enough money in my bank account to pay my mortgage, let alone buy a painting. Etherton was not one of those galleries. Nobody followed us around (or even came into the gallery from their lobby area while we were looking). It's a very mellow space and I'd imagine that you would feel comfortable coming just to browse.

What a treat to your senses to visit Etherton Gallery. I had heard that that we showing some of the finest photographers in the US. The last week in August will be the last showing. We were mesmerized by the beauty and simplicity of these talented artists. What a gift they have to show their works. Amongst some of the greats, to name some, Ansel Adams, Phillipe Halsman, Annie Leibovitz, and so many others. A great Gallery to give a boost to your artistic part of your brain. Much enjoyed.

This is located next door to Downtown Kitchen & Cocktails (and up the stairs). We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in. There was lots of interesting art to look at and had a good feeling about the place.

Terrific contemporary fine art photography gallery. Always worth stopping by to see what is on exhibit. An absolute must do when you visit Tucson. There is no other place quite like it. If you think Tucson is just a dusty little desert town, you will more than impressed. Serious art enthusiasts will not be disappointed.

I found this gallery totally underwhelming: from the exhibit of tedious Chamillard pen and ink drawings (on accounting paper) to the decades-old, overplayed journalistic photo images. It's not a photography museum at all, and certainly fails to showcase the work of brilliant Tucson photographers who don't kowtow to the owner.

I was expecting to see inspirational work that broke new ground. I did not. What I saw was a one dimensional opinion of what good photography is supposed to look like, brought to you by the owner. Most of the B&W work was flat with insufficient contrast. There were a couple of prints that were well done however, which signified a good eye of the shooter and excellent printing. Showcasing documentary/photojournalism is fine but photography is so much more diverse than this. The owner comes across as a photography snob, replete with hubris and swagger. I got the feeling that quality of work was not the guiding principle that drives this business. I'm betting that cronyism is what does.
