El Mezquite Grill & Taqueria

We dined here January 2025 , while attending a volleyball invitational. My husband and I loved the close proximity to the TCC literally next door to the convention center . We had a few cocktails and some dinner during our off time . We decided to share the steak fajitas ($35). The entree was very filling . Lots of meat and the black beans were spicy but went perfect with our steak . I had the "The Owl " mezcal drink . It was well balanced , smoke , creamy with coconut flakes and a large garnish of burnt sugar dome . Very impressive ! We finished off our night with the January drink of the month . Which was made with Pineapple infused gin . It was delicious ! The bars ambiance felt like I was somewhere else besides the TCC . The atmosphere made me feel like I was on vacation . Our servers Michelle and Victoria were amazing ! Big kudos to them making amazing drinks and service . We plan to come back for a staycation soon!

Group of 7 on a Saturday evening. We were the first people to be seated in the dining area and we ordered drinks pretty quickly but our server immediately let us know that any alcoholic beverages would take a while because the bar "was being hit hard" right now which seemed odd since there was hardly anyone at the bar and the event they were hosting was a high school winter formal. After about 15 mins our bottled beers were brought out and our orders were taken. We had an event @7pm at the arena next door and we initially were seated at 530p. Our food came out at 620p, almost an hour after being seated and there were maybe 3 other tables seated. Food was not hot, warm at best. The ribeye steak was very fatty and dry and the fries were soggy. The Caesar salad was wilted and the chicken it was served with was not seasoned well. We asked for our bill and my husband went to pay for it and we had items on our bill that were incorrect and gratuity was added at 18% (that's fine, but our server didn't mention it was auto added). My husband asked for an itemized receipt and he was told it would only print AFTER they processed payment. Well, after it was processed ($309 total) it was noticed there were items charged incorrectly. My husband asked them to correct it and the person running the register wasn't sure how. It took about 15 mins for them to reverse the charge, reinpuf our items and recharge our card. We were late to our event which began @7pm and was literally a few minutes walk away from the restaurant. Zero apologies or consideration from staff for their lack of staffing, food taking so long and their error on billing. A very disappointing dinner experience at a restaurant with prime location for events in the downtown Tucson area.

Great breakfast and service. Enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros at Doubletree in Tuscon. First time enjoying this dish and happy I tried. Creamy texture of the refried beans, perfectly cooked over easy egg, crispy corn tortillas, and vibrant salsa all married together so well.

Enjoyed an early dinner after a very long day. Wife and I enjoyed excellent cocktails: she an amaretto sour, and I the very tropical La Mala Hora (Evil Hour). Guac n chips started the meal followed by two steak frites. Meat arrived flavorful towards the tangy side but good. Unfortunately the salad was also towards the tangy side, so a tick off balance. Don't get me wrong : yummy!Only negative score here (and I hope somebody actually reads this) : No Coffee available! I was hoping to do finish the meal with a cup of Joe, but it wasn't meant to be. How can a restaurant albeit in a Doubletree Hilton, not have coffee service at dinner? Sadly, I was forced to sacrifice one of the two in-room coffee packets to satisfy this curiously unrelenting need for Java .

Definitely above par for morning breakfast in a Hilton restaurant. Really enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros and OJ... with my Diamond Status, it was even $15 off when using my daily food and beverage credit. I'll be staying here again in the future and hope to try more on the menu.

Good place with cool food. The restaurant is understaffed. They had two front of house staff. The server did well with the circumstances. The food was flavorful, but the short rib was cold and undercooked for a braised short rib ie it wasn't fork tender. The elote was flavorful, but messy to eat. The cocktail was enjoyable. For the price point this wouldn't be my first choice for dining.

We came here late one night near closing time because my husband decided he was starving. We didn't expect much, but boy were we wrong. The food was phenomenal! The service was great too.This place is located inside a hotel so it wouldn't be my pick if I wasn't staying there, but if you are, it's worth checking it out.

I've been here a couple times, and both times to the service was slow all tho the staff was nice they definitely needed to step up there customer service and it was practically dead with only a couple other tables. Should not take 10 minutes to get a drink order going and our appetizer came out at the same time as our food with a long wait . anyways I wasn't the biggest fan of their food. The presentation was nice and the atmosphere is beautiful but for the price the food is definitely not worth it and overpriced. I've tried the Carne Asada and the birria tacos and steak .As a a Hispanic it was not authentic at all. The only thing good was the chips and guacamole.

Came here with a friend on Tuesday and had thee best nachos I've had in a long time! They also had a great selection of our local brewery beers. I can forget to mention $3 taco Tuesday. I didn't get to try the tacos because I got full off the nachos. The bartender was very friendly also. Will be going back and hopefully get some pictures!

Food was great, came out steaming hot, but the service and atmosphere is what did it for me. My server Kimberly was on top of things from the moment I sat down to the moment I left. She made sure to check in frequently but not annoyingly. Very friendly and respectful. I stopped by here during my visit to the gem show thinking it would be mediocre because it was so busy but my server made sure I got top tier service and food. Very satisfied with my visit.
