El Corral is an iconic steakhouse that absolutely lived up to its reputation during our visit to Tucson! The filet was cooked to perfection--tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. While the sides were delicious, I did wish the portions for the potatoes and veggies were a bit larger, but it truly didn't detract from the overall experience. The service was good; it may not have been outstanding, but it was certainly attentive and friendly. One of the highlights of our meal was the charming ambience, showcasing the classic old Tucson architecture that adds so much character to the dining experience. Plus, I was thrilled to find real sarsaparilla on the menu--a nostalgic treat! If you're in Tucson, El Corral is a must-visit for a fantastic meal in a wonderfully unique setting. Can't wait to go back!

I was so excited to have a great chef prepared steak for my birthday... well boy did I pick the wrong place. What a major let down... It's been YEARS since I've been here but it was on the to do. A friend recently went for her mom's bday and said it was good... well she's ever the optimistic or I ordered wrong, which I never do. I ordered a martini, Half a martini arrived. She said they ran out of vodka. The spinach dip was beyond runny. I ordered a medium steak again half a steak arrived and looked worse than a TRUCK STOP DINER STEAK FOR $9.98 with eggs and hash. She asked how everything was the second she put it down and you always say ok then try it and discuss it to make sure you're not crazy. when she came back I asked why it was half the size it should be and she said that's why I asked if it was okay admitting she knew it was wrong. She said the chef was rushed to cook it because the system doesn't work and she has to press extra hard so it never took the order?!?! Meanwhile the restaurant was pretty empty so there was no rush needed and her excuse didn't even make sense. She took it back Then brought a new steak. I cut it open and it was rare. I asked her if it was medium and she said no. You can see the blood in the pic. Never again! Since then we have heard stories from other friends about how bad it has gotten. Now I understand the 3 stars.

We came back to celebrate good health news for my wife after the France Incident. MRI was excellent. We had the prime rib , filet mignon and all the sides. This is a realty big restaurant and we wound up at the back windows. Very very Western decor and pics of Cowboy Heros of the 1950 era everywhere. Nice service.

We've been going to El Corral for years! It has a great western ambiance - nice for special occasions or for taking out-of-town guests. In addition to steak options, they have chicken, salmon, and salads. As far as sides, I recommend the mushrooms and tamale pie (definitely got to get the tamale pie! ). The quality of the house salad ("table toss") had gone down but I was happy to see/taste that it had improved the last time I was there (included mushrooms, sunflower seeds, and a tasty dressing!)

Driving by this place it looked quant and when looking it up they claimed over 50 years experience in making prime rib so I'm sure something was right. Our server Lisa was very nice and attentive from the beginning. It wasn't busy at all on a Thursday night but upon walking in you feel like you're walking into the set of a western movie. The food was good, very simple, not over seasoned. The prime rib was the star of the show, the salad was very simple, green beans were done well, I could have passed on the mashed potatoes. The tamale pie wasn't what I was expecting thinking it would be closer to corn bread. We had a mud pie for desert and it was very good. Everything seemed fresh made which was great. I would return for the prime rib most definitely.

Service was excellent and the cocktails were awesome. The green Chile appetizer was the best thing we ate. The steaks were just okay, a little too smoky for my taste and was more medium than med-rare.

Still the best place to come. From the moment you walk up, you smell that delicious smoke. The ambience has like it always has been. It's a place where you come back into history, into nostalgia. They no longer make the salad at the table, which is disappointing. But the salad was fine enough. And it comes with every entrée. The tamale pie is the best and I would highly recommend it . Came with several people so we ordered prime rib, steak, a chicken Caesar salad with shrimp, and I ordered the poblano chili, which is stuffed with corn and possibly quinoa. All of it was delicious. The poblano is vegan, which is great. The bread was so good. El corral used to not have the greatest bread, just white dinner rolls. But now they upped their game. The bread almost feels like you're eating a biscuit.
