Downtown Tucson is undergoing transformation becoming more hip. The gentrification is slow to progress. What new things are cropping up seem popular. Old factories and theaters are being reclaimed. To create new storefronts and restaurants.Soon the change will go into Fourth Avenue. If you haven't been to Fourth Avenue, it's worth a trip. Transfer yourself back to the hippie erawhere BOHO still exists. Shops and restaurants will reflect the feel. Lots of great street art in both areas. Free street and metered parking.

COVID19 update: I love downtown Tucson and the surrounding neighborhoods. Since my last review was written in 2014, this update makes sense to share!Downtown continues to evolve and grow with a great focus on local merchants. COVID has impacting ALL businesses for sure, but I downtown has been hit hard. Businesses will be opening back up again on October 2nd with extended patio/sidewalk seating. Many have remained open with takeout/pickup only models. Please continue to support downtown businesses!

The downtown street event is on second Saturday of each month. Street parking is reserved for The custom cars from the car club, Door Slammers. Nice rides. Primped Properly!Tent vendors, food trucks and live music. We initially came to do happy hour at Janos Downtown Kitchen. And since the streets were full of Action we stayed and enjoyed. Kinda cold last night, glad we had jackets.

This is a awesome town! Me and my boyfriend visited here for the first time over the weekend. It's a college town but the bars and food are great. I definitely recommend visiting downtown and enjoying the nightlife.

Okay, you get a bunch of small minded bozos together to supposedly "rejuvenate" a dead Downtown, most of which has been tore to hell, then get a shit rag to proclaim how "great a job they are doing", this is what you get. High end condos and up end bistros, really helps a dead Downtown, now only yuppies will drive there. Complete and utter crap. They praise the politicians, and nothing is ever getting done. 15+ years & waiting for "Rio Nuevo" crap. They just tore down a historic old Greyhound bus depot, a historic old 4th ave underpass, and want to tear down more so they can build more streets for cars and parking lots and they call it "progress". It really is sad that no one cares for the actual fabric and history of a city.Brilliant planning a holes. Maybe in 30 years we'll get a Downtown but by then we'll all be dead.

The flavors were so unique and absolutely delicious! Food was perfect-- blown away by the service. It started with us walking in to get happy hour at the bar, but there were no seats available at the bar. After waiting for about 3 minutes the hostess offered us a table stating that it was reserved but not for the next hour. When we sat down, we did not feel rushed at all --we got four glasses of wine on happy hour the calamari, spinach salad, the most amazing soup ever and beef cheek tacos. Holy crap-- all SO GOOD. The food came out super fast and all the staff worked incredibly well together, which was awesome to see. 5 stars, will be back. Bryan was our server- he was tits

Downtown Tucson is always live and full of energy from different cultures and different communities. You can shop, eat and enjoy the great scenery Downtown Tucson has to offer. The best time to visit downtown is in the night time because all the lights light up the streets making it feel like you're in a total different place.

Thank you Downtown Tucson, you changed your ways and you changed my life!I've been here for there three years now and when I first arrived, I curiously asked several people, "How is the downtown scene?" The consistent answer was don't waste your time. It's dirty, ghetto, and there is nothing worth checking out besides Club Congress. I heeded this warning and Congress was as deep as I ever dove in to the downtown swimming pool.As fate and life would have it, I ended up staying at a friend's downtown guest house for three months about a year and a half ago. I couldn't believe how much I loved it downtown!! There was everything you could want, (except a grocery store) and all withing walking distance. Once I got home and parked my car, it didn't move until I had to go to work the next day. Then cruel fate took me out to Oro Valley... :0( Wow, what a change. It's the old saying, you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. Plain and simple I just didn't enjoy life as much way out there. So I convinced my girlfriend we should move downtown, we moved into the Academy Lofts, and life has been sooo much better ever since!High end restaurants, fun low end dives, rooftop bars, theaters, parks, dance clubs, concerts, street fairs, and the list goes on. The mix of people is fantastic a lot of 20 - 30 year old young professionals out having a great time.I will say this, whatever existed three years ago when I first arrived is nowhere to be found today. Thank you to the city of Tucson, the Downtown Tucson organization and all of the entrepreneurs that have made this the best place to live, work, and play in the entire Old Pueblo!

Get your butts downtown once again. It's on the move making a statement about the resilience of the once decaying Tucson. It's just the beginning. Make way for the newly developing chic place to be proud of. The streets are finally close to being finished. The rails are up for the monorail. Come down for Downtown Saturdays once a month held event with music and vendors galore. We went to Reilly's Craft Pizza and enjoyed it so much. Was able to easily find free street parking and just walked around enjoying the sights and sounds of an new emerging Tucson. Took some pictures to share.

Meh. Downtown Tucson still needs a major overhaul! Nothing exciting. Parking is horrible, not to mention trying to drive down there. I'm hoping the street car will bring in better businesses and keep traffic down, but don't get your hopes up
