Mind numbingly boring. Sorry. Price was technically fine, but too expensive for me to give this another shot. Drove almost two hours out there because the reviews on yelp were excellent and I was really excited to go. The disappointment was pretty deflating, I ended up going to another place, same day, in the hopes of lifting my spirits. That other place was outstanding, and my day was saved. All's well that ends well, which is why I'm adding a star. I'm sure this is great for other folks who have never been near a horse.Edit: experience level, being out of town, and current riding was all covered over the phone, as well as place I was driving from.

We had a great ride today. 6 of us 2 adults 4 kids ranging from all ages. All the horses were so well behaved and even for us beginners, the horses pretty much took care of us. Got great instruction and the owner and Poncho were there every step of the way. Definitely doing this again when we come back

First time in Tucson AZ and being a lover of animals and definitely horses I felt I wanted to experience Arizona and it's landscape on horseback. Luckily we found Ron and the Double R Ranch and contacted him directly to see what he could do. Please note that our GPS def got us there and you will question if you're on the right road but it should be fine. It does get to be unpaved and a bit bumpy but just keep at it and soon you'll see a sign for Double R Ranch. Also be sure to bring a hat, jeans, so good hiking shoes or boots, and sunscreen - oh and water. It can get hot in the desert - you'll be fine...Ron will take care of the rest. Ron was a gracious host and teacher and gave us a great tour of the southern Arizona countryside. He also taught us a couple tips as we rode, galloped, and trotted around his ranch and land. His horses were very well mannered, smart, and well trained. We learned more about the breeds, the area which parts is sacred Indian land, and the stories that Ron had kept us interested and intrigued - super fun!Overall it was a great experience and we sure will be back to do more adventures in the future

Warning - this is long, but we hope it's helpful information since we couldn't find much information before our stay! We stayed at the Double R Ranch in Benson, Arizona in early October 2024. I must admit that we highly underestimated the Ranch - it was so much better than expected. My wife and I both enjoy horseback riding and taking advantage of being empty nesters, we like to escape occasionally to indulge in riding and the ranch experience. We've stayed at much more well-known "ranch resorts" or dude ranches. While amazing, they are a different experience altogether. The Double R is more of the true ranch experience (more intimate, and more hands on). Little things like family-style meals with guests, the ranch owner, and staff make for a truly great experience. We had a chance to talk about the day's multiple rides, "highlights of that day", and our individual experiences with our assigned horses. When we can be around horses, we want more than riding. We want the opportunity for more hands-on experiences like tacking our horse - that's not always allowed at other ranches. We were never asked to do this at Double R, but it was not denied when we asked. Their guidance made sure we did it correctly and double checked our work to ensure the safety of riders and horses. This was a huge plus for us. The rides were 3-5 hours, up and down hills, and through some of the most amazing southern Arizona deserts with views for miles and guides who knew the history of the area. Being raised in Arizona, I truly appreciate not only the views but the stories as well. The food was good home cooking with plenty to go around - we never left hungry. A very special Thank You to the amazing people who prepared the meals. We were surprised one evening to see they even offered words of affirmation in a note to each guest before dinner. I still have mine, Thank You! There are multiple options for lodgings. Like I said, this is not a resort, but a ranch and the different accommodations are assigned based on your needs and the number of people in your party. We stayed in a little cottage about a quarter mile away from everyone else (perfect!). It was clean and private, making it easy to feel like we were the only ones there. I didn't see the other accommodations but I talked with the other guests and they were more than satisfied with their lodgings as well. While we were there, the Benson Rodeo was happening on Saturday. The Double R Ranch was one of the major sponsors and we were given tickets to enjoy the rodeo. I've attended 7 amazing rodeos this year. But if you have never attended a truly small-town rodeo, you are missing out! You can feel the community at events like this with family and neighbors coming together. A pleasure to experience and feel welcomed by the locals of Benson and surrounding areas! I cannot express enough that their web page made me a little nervous with the minimalist approach on what they have to offer on this ranch. Okay, being completely honest I went into the trip just telling myself we'll make the best out of whatever we are going to experience and enjoy our trip. So, while they could probably use some upgrades in advertising, they do offer a great experience, and they know how to cowboy. While I hope they find great success, I hope the intimate experience never goes away. I will be back - probably more than a few times. This is a truly hidden treasure in the desert. We had such a great time that I want to tell everyone about it, but I also want to keep it as our secret place. But I must give them their due and wish continued success! Thank You!

Double R Ranch may be the friendliest place on earth. The owners and staff are wonderful, so accommodating. They have a way of matching the horse and rider perfectly. The facility is clean and well maintained. Whether you go for a day ride or a vacation package you will have a great time!

The most amazing long-weekend getaway with the best people! The cabin, the food (thanks Kelly!), riding (thanks Poncho, Billy and Hannah!), trip to Tombstone (thanks Ron!), roping lessons (thanks Trina!) and laughs (previously mentioned as well as Renee) was an experience my husband and I will never forget! If you're looking for the ultimate ranch experience, I cannot recommend Double R enough!

the worst. literally everything down to the horse riding was simple unbearable. not to mention Ron the owner is one of the worst people I've ever met. Not only does his place suck but he won't give a refund even tho we didn't spend a single night. 100% do not recommend. Save ur money. Id rather get a lobotomy than even think about coming back here.
