You can't compare this beef to store bought "grass fed" beef. There's a lot of trickery in those labels. Do your research folx. Here's the short version. We bought 2 ribeyes, they came out like crap, we threw them away and I was pretty annoyed. But, I did my researched, realized it was my fault and learned how to cook properly raised beef.Is the store bought stuff delicious? Yeah. Does it have traces of feces in it? Yeah. Is smoking relaxing? Yeah. Does it kill you? Yeah...Since my screw up I've had to relearn how to cook good food. We've tried many cuts and cooked them many ways. Charcoal grill, outdoor flat top, cast iron, oven baked, stove stop stew, slow cooker... We're currently saving to buy a quarter share of beef (should be close to $1000) and just put in a new chest freezer to hold most of it. If that's any indication of how I feel about this beef and how I've learned how to cook it, I hope it helps your decision.I've had many other "grass fed" beefs, and I can't knock them all. But DCR is at my local farmer's markets, so that's why I buy from them. You have plenty of choices, they are convenient and deliver what I'm looking for. Properly raised beef that is dense, full of nutrition and grown naturally. You know, like how our grandparents used to eat. My Grandpa is getting close to 100 and my great grandma lived to be 103. They grew up on farms and at food like this. They also drank and smoked heavily. So, what's killing everyone today?

My wife and I attended the open ranch day today with our one year old daughter. We loved the experience .You can see for yourself the love and care that goes into doing this the right way !The meat is amazing and such higher quality then what's bought at the store ! Although the meats more expensive it is worth every penny! And you won't feel bad about eating meat since all the animals are treated with respect and dignity! Unlike the mass produced meat we can buy from a local super market ! You will taste the difference in quality !

Locally produced, sustainable, grass-fed beef. I was very excited to see there was a ranch here that had humanely raised cows, in a natural environment. I bought some New York steaks from Double Check Ranch (2 lbs for approximately $28 retail price) and got out the iron skillet to pan fry them. The meat was delicious, very flavorful, and lean. Since their beef is leaner than most mass-produced beef, cooking times and temps are lower to prevent overcooking. Although pricey, I think it's worth it for both the taste and the ethics/environmental aspect of buying Double Check Ranch beef.

I LOVE me some grass-fed beef. This is always on my hit list when I visit the St. Phillips Farmer's Market. My husband and I have been getting our ground beef here for a while now, and purchased as many Groupon's as we could when Double Check was the daily deal! It is amazing how different grass-fed beef tastes from what we all grew up eating. So much better for you too! Their beef is also featured at several of the area's best restaurants such as The Arizona Inn, Canyon Ranch and Harvest. Double Check is run by educated and passionate people who really believe in the advantages of sustainable and organic agriculture. Make sure you stop by the next time you are at the market and find out what beef is supposed to taste like!

I love grass fed beef. It is lean, full of Omega 3s, flavorful, and healthy. Double Check is the best place to buy if you are shopping the St. Philips farmer's market. You can also check out their beef at places like Wilko and Arizona Inn. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of getting up close and personal with Paul's operation at Double Check. Yes, I actually got a ranch tour. And it was awesome! Paul went into every detail about how the grass is grown, how they do that in a sustainable way, how he treats his cattle, his philosophy on land stewardship, and even the butchering process. Seriously, we need more farmers like Paul. I just started a CSA with them and it has been fabulous. Paul only grows cattle, but he often has lamb, chicken, and eggs from his friend's farms as well. Support your local farmers!

I stopped by this vendor at the farmers market and I am so glad I did ! I tried other grass fed beef ranch's but this is by far the best beef I've gotten ahold of ! The flavor and quality can't be beat ! Also their farm fresh eggs are so rich in color and flavor as they should be !! Thanks for doing it the right way guys !

We purchased 2 NY strips from Phoenix Public Market farmers market, and the steaks were so tough, it actually hurt my teeth to eat. The cut and quality of the beef was inferior to a cheap grocery store sirloin. We're extremely disappointed and we're hoping to find a good source for beef sharing.

I bought the smallest available share of this meat and the only cuts I have enjoyed at all were the roasts that I cooked for a minimum of 8-10 hours. Even the hamburger was tough, and I have had other grass fed beef before that I had no problems with. There was a bone chip in the hamburger, and the actual "cut" of the meat seemed off to me. I truly wanted to love this meat so I could give them my business rather than Whole Foods, but at over $10/lb, there is no way I would ever buy this again.

Double Check Ranch grass fed meat reviewWell, we are about 19lb's into a 25lb box. So far all has been very, very tough. The only thing that seemed to be 'as marked' was the snipple of Filet in the box. The rest was, as if I were in a restaurant and ordered this meat, I would send it back and ask for the chicken. The ribs had bone fleks in it, the New Yorks I thought were very tough Top sirloins, as were the rib eyes. The burger is very Grissel, like an 80/20 on thick grind. I make my own sausage and sauces and such, in case you were wondering the caliber of this review of Double Check Ranch Grass Fed Beef Farmer. The beef seemed like the cow was made to traverse the Grand Canyon before it's slaughter! In other words Beef Jerky but tough.I am in no way affiliated with any beef farmer. The happy reviews are suspect in my opinion. NO THANKS.
