I stayed here for a conference. Here's the breakdown:Pro: the place was clean, staff were very nice & helpful. We had a group conference and everything including the food was handled very well. If you register at the casino you get $20 to play and $10 for food. And I liked the Coffee bar for breakfast. Not so good: it's cold throughout especially in the evening. Buffet is $21 and the food is just plain. I had an Asian dish in the Diamond Cafe that was off the charts hot and I mean hot! I couldn't eat it. The air handler in the room was noisy. This location isn't close to much in Tucson but downtown is about 20 min north.I'd come back for a conference but as a hotel to just stay at I think I would look elsewhere.

The hotel staff & security behave as though they do not want customers at the hotel or casino. Very unfriendly staff & management team. Security guards appeared to be on high alert and in large numbers, so I assume it's not a safe place, although it looks new. The hotel is clean, however, the rooms are not made for sleeping. There are large gaps in the front doors & you can hear the elevator ding sound all the way down the hall, along with the ice machine & people talking in low tone voices. Their beds are Motel 6 rated. Very hard & no pad so you can feel the springs in the mattress. They have a small coffee pot in the room & only provide one pouch for one cup. The windows are cheap single pane, so the train sounds like it's across the street. Sleeping is not easy here, even with ear plugs. After speaking with management about to loud room, & one cup of coffee, it's no secret these folks are not happy with their workplace which is not fun to be around. I left there feeling bad for the workers & their native tribe members. Perhaps they are managed by a 3rd party company, and are not profitable? Perhaps they are managed by the tribe, and the leader is a royal pain? Who knows, life is too short to ever go back & unless you don't mind rudeness & zero sleep, I cannot recommend staying here or dumping your money in their casino. I'm a lucky person & left $800 ahead, but that's just me:) even with the win, I'd rather have a positive environment & a much quieter room & comfortable bed. I came here to play & sleep, not play, win, & complain. I hope this review gets to upper management & they contact me. They need changes from the top down quickly!!! Other patrons felt the same. Many of them were at the front desk complaining for a myriad of reasons.

Stayed one night. Room is large with a small refrigerator and small coffee maker. Microwave on request. Individual standard toiletries and clean towels in the bathroom. Water pressure was good. Toilet (water closet) has a door separate from the shower/bath and sink. Bed is VERY firm.Room was clean and was like staying in any aging Vegas hotel.Parking was plentiful. I noticed that security patrolling the grounds too.More parking on the hotel side. There is a coffee/pastry bar in the hotel area that opens earlier in the morning. There is a buffet at this location...with a perpetual LONG line. Complimentary coffee and beverage station in the seating room next to the casual food grill and BINGO room. There is a "priority" line if you are a Diamond status for the casual food grill line. The line is on the other side of the condiment island, easy to miss if you don't know about it.The Diamond VIP lounge is more like some executive offices with a few desks lol...don't expect the nice upscale VIP lounge like the DDC West Valley on Northern Ave has.I think there was a "smoking" area maybe outside? The casino didn't reek of cigarettes like other places (Harrah's).If I was in Tucson again, I would visit or stay here (comped room via Diamond status) with deposit.

This week I tried the Southwestern Shrimp Caesar Salad and it is my new favorite! The bowl was filled with crisp Romaine and in each corner a surprise was nestled: black beans, olives, corn, and cheese (Oaxaca, I think). Juicy grape tomatoes, shredded parm, and succulent shrimp covered the top. The dressing was a spicy Caesar and instead of croutons, a cup of chili-seasoned tortilla strips was served. Yum and yum! If you purchase this fabulous salad in the poker room, it is only $4.50!! I can hardly wait to enjoy this one again!

Lukewarm food. No attention to how meats sliced or presented. Chicken was so dry I needed a steak knife to cut it.

This review is specific to the food court just outside the poker room.Service is absolutely horrible. We arrived a bit early for a poker tournament and ordered some food. The guy who took our order said that they would deliver it to the poker room - great. The tournament starts, no food. We go all the way through the tournament - no food. It appears that their idea of "deliver it to the poker room" is to come to the doorway of the poker lobby area and shout out a number. If no one waves in the next five seconds or so, they give up and take it back. You can't even see the poker tables from here! So even if I heard you, I can't get your attention, and by the time I get up and go over there (assuming I'm not in the middle of a hand) they're already gone.Explaining this afterwards, I'm told that I'm out of luck. They only hold orders for two hours, and it's past that, so too bad - they won't re-make it and they won't issue a refund. I explained that they said they would deliver it to the poker room; they said "they have servers over there who will bring it to you." Well if I need to order from them instead then don't tell me that you'll bring it over when I order here, which is exactly what they did!Service-wise, they suck and they don't care. How was the food? No idea, we never got any. Looking at what some other people got though, it looks pretty mediocre, so there's that I guess. The poker room itself seems to be well managed, but overall I'll be driving the extra bit to go to Casino Del Sol instead. It's just better run overall.

Do not play or eat here, all around awful experience on two separate occasions! There is another casino in town, suggest trying there instead. My wife and I were excited to play at Desert Diamond because they have a lot of games and we enjoy visiting casinos when we travel. Despite the 2.5 star rating we decided to give them a try. Big mistake! An evening wasted, unfortunately. We of course do not expect to win when we play, however Desert Diamond slots and table games were unusually low paying. Many of the slots glitched, were very slow, and often did not work at all after we put out money or tickets in. Service was very slow to respond, rude, and just made the nigh frustrating and disappointing. Dealers at table games were unpleasant and security seemed to be completely lacking. Several local players commented to my wife and I that they believe the casino plays favorites and cheats somehow. I did not quite understand this but they mentioned something about "upstairs" triggering wins only for favorites of the Tribal owners. Not sure if this is true, but we lost more here than anywhere we have ever played before, which is just not very fun! Also, several scary people who were not playing but looked to be casing the paying customers walked through the casino and made us uncomfortable. We didn't feel safe.Lastly, the food was over-priced, tasteless, and my wife and I both had hours of intestinal upset after eating from the buffet one evening and then again two nights later after we ate from the cafe. Drinks were watered down, very expensive, and service was very, very slow! As we were leaving, my wife saw two dead roaches by the kitchen area. This place needs a major hygiene and food safety overhaul!Final word - skip the Desert Diamond! Unsafe and dirty environment, poorly maintained slots, very poor payout, and overall bad service made for two less than entertaining nights for my wife and I while on vacation for a few days here in Tucson.

I've played here multiple times due to it being a closer Uber ride. Last night my phone died after a 5 hour Blackjack session (max limit). I tried getting it to charge on a machine with no luck. I asked them if they could help me get a ride home and a manager told me if I hadn't lost my money I'd have a ride home than kicked me off the property. It wasn't about money, I had no way of scheduling an Uber. If you live in Tucson go to Del Sol where they're happy to see you play.

Came as a new member was excited however no one was at the front counter came in around 3:45 and waited at the counter because a sign said 30min and will return. I waited 40 mins and no one showed. When to the cashier counter to let them know. Was told a manager would go to the counter and help. Waited even more before the manager came just to say she couldn't do nothing. The manager was rude and trying to tell me I haven't been waiting over 40mins. Never got my new member card. Plus the place smell bad. Go to casino del sol instead.
