I like D & H. They did a nice job installing my new HVAC unit in 2013. The guys sent were pros at the install, startup and clean up. Just had D & H out for annual check, and the gentleman who did the work was also a pro. I am NOT fond of the whole 'upsales' they are required, but this technician was low key, no pressure, unlike the previous dude. However! The 3 stars versus 5 are for D & H price gouging. I needed about 2# of refrigerant.....at $110/#, D & Hprice. I was told a homeowner cannot buy this stuff without EPA license, etc. so I looked today... VERY same 5# bottle the technician used, available TO THE PUBLIC, for $95. With the recharge kit for $159.95 ( making the cost about $32/#). Both have free shipping. Do I feel overcharged? Absolutely! I think 25% markup is fair given logistics, storage, acquisition, etc. That would have put me, for the refrigerant and kit at $40 per pound, not $110, which is a 350% markup!!! I have called the office, and continue to wait for a call back. The office called and sent me snail mail to ensure that I knew the refrigerant is not covered under my warranty. Not that I thought it was, but interesting action. I await a call.., again. They finally gave me a lil discount, and wanted me to know about the credentialing and training their techs take. Hey, I've been around construction over 30 years...looks to me like the intensive training is in upselling on services.

My AC unit was running great until I paid this company to service it. Yesterday, 9 days after service, it stopped blowing cold air. When I called yesterday they wanted to charge me another 90 plus dollars for service to my house this morning. It is noon and a tech has not arrived yet. I called politely 3 times this mornin. The company has been reminded that I am disabled with a metal spine, both lumbar and cervical. I was supposed to be second on the schedule. This is an emergency and they won't respond. Just called Rite Way. Rite Way agreed to help me today as a new customer, because I am disabled and elderly. D and H will break your system and won't fix it quick enough. Do not let them touch it!

COMPLETE SCAM---Based solely on their commercials, I called D&H when our mini-split began throwing warm air. Nyle, the technician that arrived, looked over the equipment. He connected his gauges and said there was zero pressure in the system and that's why the compressor wasn't turning on. I asked about a recharge to get us going. He added a small amount of refrigerant but the compressor still didn't start. He pulled the capacitor and checked it. It was good. I inquired about a full recharge. Nyle provided an estimate of $700 for refrigerant and then tried to persuade me to sign up for D&H's maintenance plan at $500 or so annually. I quickly looked up the price on a new mini-split- $2,000. I told Nyle that a new system was only $2,000. He said, "No, these systems are about $9,000. What?!!I declined further service and Nyle said he would have their comfort consultant contact me to provide options. Repeated phone calls to me to arrange a meeting at my house were met with me stating I just wanted a quote. I finally got one. Outrageous!!!I bought a comparable unit online and installed it myself. When I disconnected the old one, the refrigerant lines nearly blew off from the pressure. Obviously, the diagnosis of no pressure was a lie. After connecting the new unit, I learned a fuse was blown. So there you have it- a complete SCAM from D&H when all I needed was a new fuse. Well, I got a new AC as well, but I'll chalk that up as an investment. " Service so good, you'll wish we fixed everything. " Nope, cause you can't even fix the basics.

I called D and H last week to make an appointment, I was told they would call me back in 5min. I haven't received a call to date. If this is how they treat potential customers, I don't want this company replacing anything in my house.

D & H installed a BRAND NEW SYSTEM a month and half ago. Turned heat on Tuesday and my smoke detector went off. Called someone came out that afternoon found no issues charged me $95 for what. BRAND NEW STSTEM They came out again on Wednesday and again nothing was wrong Thursday. They came back out and found a gas leak in the new system. I have gone now for four days without any heat this morning. It was 59° in my house, I want a full $15 K refund. This is absolutely fucking ridiculous. I will be contacting BBB and an attorney

Terrible, terrible, terrible! Tech came out quickly after calling but then left me hanging for 3 days without air. Was told I had a freon leak and that R-22 was no longer available. They would need to add a new coolant at a cost of $3000. Also said compressor was out and capacitor. Was told they could come the next day to repair to the tune of $5000. I waited all day and finally received a call back at 4:30 in the afternoon (after having called the office at 10:30) saying can't get the parts and it will be another 2 days before we can come out again. Waited for a call on Monday (nothing again) and had to call office and complain. Tech is out sick and can't come until Tuesday. Forget it! Called someone else to look at it and unit was up and running 90 minutes later for only $2100 and the R-22 freon was available. D&H is a joke. Paid them $95 for NOTHING.

After having an expensive repair done, I was told by the tech I would need a $1200 part and sign the estimate and make a downpayment before he would complete the first repair. Dishonest as the day is long.

D&H quoted my elderly parents $1,500 to replace the compressor motor in their Rheem system. Despite that price being more than double what it should cost, they went forward anyway. The technician came out Saturday, wired up the motor incorrectly, and destroyed the circuit board when he introduced power. They were without AC as a result of the D&H mistake. Come Monday, calls to D&H were not returned and nobody ever returned to finish the job. This is the kind of service they deliver to their "family plan" members. What a joke.

Get a second opinion to anything they say is wrong. We are out over $500 for a part the service man who was there for general service on the air conditioning Suggested we get otherwise our compressor would go out. Our unit is 4 years old The part that was put on, I later found out could be bought ion line for $17. I called only to be told they charge more for parts but it covers the gas, labor, etc. it took the guy a couple minutes to screw the part in & didn't require a service call charge because he was already there. I told them to come back and take the part out or to reimburse some of the payment but they wouldn't do it. What happened to their 100% guarantee that's on their adds.

Called this company when our disabled sons AC went out, told me it was the capacitor and blower motor. COST almost $2000. Then like an idiot I purchased a maintenance package and when they went out to check my sons heater they told me that there was a gas leak and that the gas valve needed replaced. COST $1200, so I called another company for a second opinion, verdict NO GAS LEAK. I called and emailed this company several times with no response.
