While I knew that a score of 6.1 on one of those On-Line sites, wasn't the best, I expected it to be a decent place. You will want to STAY HERE, only IF you are DESPERATE!Located around the corner of Tucson's old Industrial area, and on Motel Row (some closed down), this "historic" looking motel hasn't seen much improvement/modernization since it was built. The motel's appearance, gravel drive and limited parking sent the command issued by submariners to submerge the boat, coursing through my head. But, since it was already secured for 2 nights, I figured that I'd have to live with it. The owners are from India, and while I expect to have to "ring the bell" to gain entry after hours, to have to do this at 2:30 in the afternoon was weird. The wife checked me in, and she was nice enough. However, she added $4.30 to my bill without explanation (I think it was because the on-line site gave me one rate, and she charged me the regular rate, as I heard her tell someone on the phone that a room was $75.00 a night (not cheap, like the other review said)). And, since it's a prepaid before check in, there wasn't much I could do about it. Also, on-line, I use my AE card to secure the room. And at the motel, a AE welcome sign in the window. But, when I presented the card, I was told that they don't take it. Luckily, I had other cards with me.I was told that I could park in front of my room. So, I happily drove around the back. Well, the parking area wouldn't allow 2 large pick ups to drive side by side.In front of my "Queen size" room, the stoop was crowded with Foxtails, weeds and clumps of uncut grass were growing all over the place. I unlocked the door and walked into a small room that at least looked clean, even though there were scuff marks at the base of the doors, and grime around the handles.Unlike other posts, I didn't see any roaches or bed bugs (I washed everything when I got home, jic). But, the next morning, there was a dying bee (stinger still attached) in the bathroom. But, there were other problems that were noticeable right away. And, a few that came to you as time went on.The rooms aren't sound proofed, so a lot of street noise gets in. Luckily, with the motel next door being defunct, and the adjacent streets not being major thoroughfares, it wasn't too bad most of the time. But, the bed was the hardest bed I ever sat on, or slept in.Upon seeing the motel, surrounding area and the room, I expected the AC/Heater to be noisy, and the mini-fridge not to work well. But, the AC/H worked great, and was pretty quiet! Even on low, I could feel the air blowing against the far wall.I got my stuff out of my suitcase, and hung up my clothes in the small walk-in closet. When, I went to put my toiletries in the bathroom, the vanity counter top hit me just above mid thigh. And, there was very little room on the counter to put stuff. Luckily, the medicine cabinet is functional. But, the lighting is quite poor.Later on, I went to plug in my toothbrush for charging, and the outlet in the bathroom wasn't working. So, I looked at another outlet by the bed. But, decided I'd wait until morning because the outlet looked like it had seen better days.Speaking of outlets, they had a 3 plug extension cord running from the outlet to the visible side of the fridge. And, plugged in to it was the microwave, fridge and a surge protector, that had the TV and the Cable's mini-box plugged into it. So, 5 devices plugged into 1 outlet. A real risk of blowing a fuse, or worse. After watching some TV, I turned out the bedside lamp (a 3-way switch, with a single 40 watt bulb (not a CFL, or LED), and low and behold, the outdoor lighting lit up the room through the Vertical blinds. No room darkening shade or curtains here. Luckily, I was able to sleep most of the night.Early the next morning, I got up to shower and shave. As I brushed my teeth, the water pressure coming out of the faucet was really good. But, when I turned on the shower (the one post that said that the shower head is 4 feet high was an exaggeration. It's actually, 4' 6" high (I'm 5' 9", and the shower head hit me just below the lower lip)), the pressure coming out of the fixed shower head left a lot to be desired. And, the towels were the roughest that I've ever used. So, between everything I saw in those 12 hours there, I decided to check out early. And, since my motel budget was blown, I decided not to spend another night elsewhere. So, I headed home after breakfast. This is my 2nd venture where Yelp scored the places I've lower than the on-line site does. So, my recommendation is to always double check on Yelp before the cancellation period ends.

**DONT STAY HERE!!! They have bed bugs and cockroaches!!! This is by far thee worst place I have ever stayed at, the room had a strong order that wouldn't go away my entire stay, the pillows were disgusting with yellow and blood stains, the bed comforters were crusty and seemed unwashed. The carpet was gross, they couldn't even vacuum. They're kitchen was a dump with a big hole on the ceiling. The restroom was unkept with mold on the walls. I didn't feel comfortable staying here I felt like I had eyes on me the whole time here. The owners like to walk around the property, standing in front of the doors just being creeps, I assume to hear what you are doing? Lol I don't know. But please don't stay here pay the extra 10$ and stay at a decent hotel. This place is a joke.

I had to stay at a place while looking for off campus student housing. I wanted it bare bones and CHEAP!Right down the street is a Best Western that had FANTASTIC rooms with everything...for about $65 a night. So the whining pussies on here that gave this place a bad rating were simply being greedy. You are not going to get a best western or above type room for $28 a night...just not going to happen! You STAY at a place like COPPER CACTUS INN for 2 reasons: location and price and NOTHING ELSE!It is 1 block to pima community college,..... across the street from the famous MEET MARKET dive bar. ......2 min drive to the U of A, etc, etc, etc....i enjoyed handing over a twenty a five and 3 ones for my stay. I would not have enjoyed handing over 3 twenties just to have a flat screen and a cleaner room.I am giving this place 5 stars because at 10:30pm at night...my window aircon quit working. I went over to the manager window expecting to be told to wait until morning, but instead, the manager, his wife, and his son, got a BRAND NEW airconditioner out of their storage, came by and replaced it and 30 mins later, I was relaxing on my cheap bed watching my cheap tv in cool cool comfort before I passed out into la la land.BOTTOM LINE: If you are a PUSSY and a SHIT FOR BRAINS.....pony up $60 or $70 and STAY at the Best Western. If you are a REAL man that has any true grit...been in the military, not born with a silver spoon in your mouth etc....you can handle the COPPER CACTUS INN.All others: Please please please close your legs.....we can see your vagina!

PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE! My car was vandalized while at this business. When Owners were told, they were not only UNCARING, and UNCONCERNED for the safety of my daughter and boyfriend, and the fact that car could not be driven due to damages, they were ADAMANT that they would instead be charged with an additional night's stay if they were not out by 1 minute past check-out. We spent many hours trying to get returned calls from insurance company and repair-shops so we could have immediate concerns of drivability addresses. DONT WASTE TIME AND MONEY. While a young couple wanted an inexpensive night's stay, after a day of shopping in Tucson, decided to stay here. HUGE MISTAKE!

DISGUSTING, Roaches, bed bugs, RUDE owners, over charged me $10 extra for "tax", all together I had to pay $45 and a $5 deposit for a metal key, light bulbs were missing, broken blinds, broken non matching old furniture and got woken up at 9:30am from the phone by the owner telling us we need to leave. This is the worst motel I've EVER stayed in!

WARNING!!! SERIOUS WARNING!!! STAY AWAY!!! The five star review here is probably bought. I survive cheap hotel in India with no complaints. This takes DISGUSTING to whole new level. Make you pay $2 extra which is not mentioned prior to booking!!! $5 more, go to Red Roof which is just a couples minutes away. My underwear is cleaner than their pillows and sheet which is sprayed with air freshener. Mold in shower!! Room #35 where we stayed, I believe is HAUNTED!! Our bathroom door opened by itself. Could not sleep!! Loud street! Please, camp out on the side of the road than stay here. Stay AWAY. FAR, FAR AWAY!!!

I booked this place online sight unseen and ended up bailing once I saw it. The owners were very nice, and showed me a second room after I realized that the first one stank of cheap perfume (hooker hotel?????) and that I did not want to use the shower even though I'd been camping for several days in the desert and needing a shower was the main reason I decided to book a cheap motel or hotel. The second room they showed me was much better (although the a/c unit looked ancient and had a knob broken off, but it did turn on), and I almost decided to stay after all, but realized that I wasn't at all sure my car wouldn't get broken into over night since I was in the middle of a cross-country road trip/move and had a lot of belongings visible inside (covered with a blanket but still). The rooms looked clean, but this place is really pretty bad. I'm not generally afraid of poor neighborhoods or worn out motels, and have only walked away from a motel once before in my life (a hooker hotel in vegas where the owner insisted that i look at the room because they wanted me to see what i was getting into if i stayed there), but I walked away from this one. Again, the owners were nice - they refunded my money without making a fuss - but honestly if they had fussed I would have let them keep the money just to get out of there.

This place was the most disgusting and vile place I ever had the displeasure of staying. On top of having my car vandalized, the owner told me if I didn't remove my car from the lot before checkout time (I had a glass repair man who was going to meet me on location), that I'd be double charged for another night. Holes in the blinds, hot water didn't work in the shower, rude customer service, disgusting smell, outdated furniture and sketchy neighborhood. Save yourself the time and stress.

My son arrived at this hotel with a confirmed reservation number late at night after two long flights, only to be to told there were no rooms available! Staff on duty couldn't have cared less, and calls to the manager the next day to complain only went to voice mail, with no response. He ended up trying to find another hotel with a vacancy at midnight in a bad area, and found somewhere only marginally better but double the price at the short notice. In hindsight, reading all the reviews of the Copper Cactus on various sites, he had a lucky escape! Do not rely on a reservation at this place, and use it only if you are DESPERATE! Pay a bit more and stay somewhere safer and more hygienic!

Geez! Where do I begin? Do not stay here! This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I booked online and pre-paid 3 nights. I wanted to be close to University but for only $10 more, there are other hotels wayy better than this dump that needs everything upgraded. The parking lot is not paved and in order to park in your spot, you have to turn around in the parking lot but there is no room. The room was small and everything looked old. The blinds were torn, uneven, and dingy looking. Same for bedding. Stains, ripped and pillows were extremely flat. Towels are small and thin (only 2) soap is tiny, again only 2. No extra rolls of toilet paper and when I called to ask for more, I was told I had to walk to the office to get it because she couldn't leave the office unattended. it was 9:00 pm. So I walk over, you have to ring doorbell. The girl opens door slightly, I tell her I called for toilet paper she says "ok," slams door and goes to get it. Opens door and hands me one roll. I thought really? Is it that expensive? Anyway, the worst part was finding bed bugs, after one actually bit me. I wanted to abandon my final night but owners refused to refund my last day of the 3 night stay. Luckily, I booked thru hotels.com and they were sensible enough to offer me a one night credit and I quickly booked elsewhere, The difference with credit was only $16 but man what a difference. I got a good nights sleep in a clean, pleasant room. Obviously, hotels.com has kept me as a customer but this dump of a hotel has lost one. There is no excuse for a room in that condition. Only plus is wi-fi worked but had I known there were bugs, would have stayed clear away.
